Am I the only one who finds it hard getting behind 99% of the babyfaces in wwe?

The second someone turns face its like they lose every little thing that made them populair in the first place. They come out smiling and pandering with a please like me attitude. I cant explain what it is but its like they lose the hunger. The heels are easier to get behind for me personally. A guy like Kevin Owens doesnt care what anybody thinks about him and he wants to prove he,s the best. If he were .babyface he,d come out differently, stand on the turnbuckle and pander to the fans. I cant explain what it is but the babyfaces are freaking pussies for lack of a better term.

It's because most of the heels in the WWE aren't even really heels, they are baby faces. Heels are supposed to cheat and used underhanded tactics because they are inferior in skill level to the baby faces, they win matches because they are willing to do whatever it takes whereas the baby face has to stay within the confines of the rules, the only exception to this is Eddie Guerrero with his lie cheat steal gimmick.

The heels can't cheat because the rules aren't enforced as they should be and because it seems like WWE doesn't want their guys doing that for God knows what reason.

So, we are left with "heels" which are really guys just being themselves with their attitudes turned up to 11, and "baby faces" who are just fucking Boy Scouts that bring new meaning to the term "cringe worthy". Which one are you gonna root for? The guy who is kicking ass and taking names and acting like a bad ass or the goody two shoes Mr. Smiles-All-The-Time? Come on. It ain't even a fair fight.

Let Dean Ambrose just be himself, stop with the lunatic fringe nonsense, stop with the cringe inducing segments and just let him be is odd ball self and he will be the biggest baby face in the company.

Let Roman Reigns be his arrogant, conceited, "I'm better than you because I'm rich and famous" self and have him cheat in matches and do underhanded shit and he will be the biggest heel in the company.

Let Cesaro be himself and for God sakes let him cut some promos, even if it's just 30 seconds back stage right before the match starts, and he will get over big time and be a real player.

Make up your fucking mind with Bray Wyatt. Either let him be the most evil, sadistic, self serving son of a bitch in the world and push him as a top heel, or just let him be himself and make him a baby face. But you gotta make up your mind, and you gotta give him some purpose and let him beat some big names, by cheating if he's a heel or clean if he's gonna be a face. Dude is SO talented it's unbelievable how badly they have botched his career since 2014.

This shit ain't rocket science. Heels need to cheat to win and not be allowed to have any character traits that are likable, baby faces need to be organic and natural and allowed to cut promos and connect with the audience, and the baby faces need to have some bad ass in them because for christ sakes it's 2015. Our heros are Tony Soprano, Omar from the Wire, Tyrion Lannister, Daredevil, Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne, and Rust Cohle. Flawed, edgy, REAL.

I think it all goes back to Vince wanting all faces to be Cena clones. He saw that Cena was successful, so guys like Sheamus, Del Rio, and the Usos all get turned into Cena-lite when they turn face.

There's very few faces, like Orton, who don't act like that.

But yeah, this is one of the reasons people cheer heels. All the faces are dull Cena clones these days. At least Cena was original, all these others are just written as imitations.

It's because they're all the same. There's only 2 types of babyfaces, you got your smiling, goofy babyface, and you've got your serious, ass kicking babyface. Every heel is different, you got Seth, who's your traditional, weaselly, backstabbing, cowardly heel. You got Owens, who disrespects everyone he comes into contact with, but justifies his actions to try to blame the other guy, he's also a family man, you got Wyatt, who is your crazy, psychotic heel who thinks he's the answer to all the worlds problems, you got Rusev, who is your anti-American heel, you got New Day, who are your comedy heels who think they're babyfaces, you got Sheamus, who's gimmick is that smaller wrestlers aren't real men. Every heel has some differentiating quality. The babyfaces just have guys who smile and are happy to be there, or serious, stone faced ass kicking babyfaces. Brock, Reigns and Orton, just to take 3 examples, are the same character. They may have different looks and different accomplishments, but they're all just angry ass kickers.

Well said. I, too like the different types of heels and faces. Can't stand when every face is the same or every heel is the same. Different forms of each alignment is best. With faces right now, it seems they're all varying degrees of John Cena lite. It's a shame.

I think a lot of us are in the same boat. This is why I have a strong preference towards heels. There's the rare case like Rollins who just screams babyface, but for the most part, anyone who was great as a heel absolutely sucks as a face, or they're too boring for you to care either way. They seem to be turning Sasha Banks face on NXT and I'm worried. I don't want her to lose everything that makes her special.

Because birds of a feather flock together. Nice people will like nice people, & douchebags will like douchebags. I find that a lot of people who only like heels because of their "heelish" ways are rude, nasty, bitchy assholes themselves & are always mad about something, at least in my experience, & considering I could label most of the "IWC" as that, I can see why it's hard for WWE to get their faces over.

Yeah I get what you're saying OP, the whole Babyface/Heel system in the WWE is pretty fucked up. Babyfaces are all Cena lite, and therefore, come across as fake and cringeworthy. Then we have the horrible Divas Division, where everyone is both heel and babyfaces, making it impossible to follow their storylines. I mean, the main roster should have more freedom when it comes to character development and their personas, it's not rocket science but WWE fails to see that because they're a bunch of idiots.

The guys should all be natural and develop their character. I don't mind when a babyfaces shows a bit of a edgy attitude, that's REAL ffs. Never have I hated the main roster for these reasons so much like now, because I know they can do better than that.

I have never been a big face supporter, from the early days of my childhood. In WWE, it's even harder because their characters are as underdeveloped as Vince's chin. You get the crowd ass kisser faces and the bad ass faces, who are few and far between, and only reserved for the select few who the company really like. Heels have more variety and just seems more entertaining to me.

WWE babyfaces are generally shit. Dean Ambrose loses to Seth Rollins in a one on one match fair and fucking square. Next night he comes out and attacks Rollins and whines and complains :drake1. Why should you cheer for a face when he can't accept he lost clean with no interference.

There are different faces just as there are heels

R-Truth: comedy face, & one of the only delusional faces they have.

Randy Orton: Arrogant & deadly.

Dolph Ziggler: Ladies man.

Dean Ambrose: Crazy, spontaneous, & unpredictable.

Roman Reigns: Resillient, short fuse, family man.

Ryback: Always...hungry?

John Cena: Pro American good boy.

PTP:...They don't really have much personality, but besides New Day, The Usos, & BRC, none of the tag teams have personality.

Brock Lesnar: We don't even know what he is right now.

Neville: Little guy who flips & stuff that gravity forgot.

Daniel Bryan: Regular old Joe & a yes man.

Those don't all sound the same to me.

I tried to think of whether I agree with OP or not, but actually the thread has made me realise that I have no opinion on the vast majority of the roster. Pretty much everyone outside of Kevin Owens (and Cesaro, to an extent) is just there.

It's not a matter of whether a wrestler is face or not the reason it's so hard to get behind them nowadays is because of Vince's stupid booking of what a face should be.

In Vince's mind a perfect face is an 80's Hogan or...if you like John Cena. If there not smiling, promoting the network and pandering towards kids there not a face.

Personally I prefer a face with a little attitude like how Rock, Austin and at times Punk. The whole concept of face and heel's in this day and age is boring anyway...it's far to easy on who is the 'good guy' and who is the 'bad guy' I much prefer to choose who I want to cheer for rather than be force fed on who I'm meant to you know.

Do away with the whole concept. Let the guys br themselves, let the fans decide who they like.

Give everyone good merchandise, let the numbers and crowd reactions sort out the pushes

This^

There is one word to describe majority of todays babyfaces. Unorganic. Punk in the summer of 2011 was organic and people wanted to get behind him but a couple months later he was the same as every other face. Telling lame jokes and being a cornball. Hhh can I please wear your blazer fpalm. Everything that made him populair during the summer they changed because guess what your a babyface now. This is how a babyface is supposed to be. Another example Daniel Bryan. Started off organic. He was in team hell no, people wanted to see him mainevent. He got the mainevent at summerslam against Cena and won the belt. That was amazing and totally organic. But somewhere between that and wm 30 it started to become about branding the word yes and forcing it down everyones throat. He was no longer organic it started to feel forced when he came out with the yes chant. It started to feel forced when he was cutting a promo most of the time because wwe have a certain formula they want there babyfaces following which makes everything seem dry and phoney.

Heels have alot more freedom thus a more diverse persona you know like an actual human being. A real person isnt happy all the time. He isnt an asshole all the time either which is why the whole babyface-heel system sucks. People want reallife people because thats relateable. There is nothing relateable about Cena. He,s like a robot. Conor Mcgregor is how a babyface should be. Sure he can be cocky and an asshole at times but thats because he wants to prove to everyone that he,s the best. There is also a softer side there of a kid from dublin chasin his dreams. Thats fucking relateable. Ziggler coming out smiling with his goofy ass shake trying to sell me a t-shirt is not relateable its not fucking real. Its phoney and hoakey.
