People saw the writing on the wall; WWE have no interest in pushing him. All logic pointed towards Mizdow defeating Miz and then going forward as a more serious wrestler, WWE went the complete opposite direction and clearly have zero plans for him. WWE are brilliant at killing crowd support for guys; look at Ryder, Ryback, Ziggler, Sandow, etc. Guys who were once crazy over with the fans until the WWE demoted them so badly that the fans just stopped caring.
I don't think its so much "forgot" as "gave up all hope when he was allowed to be serious for all of about 5 minutes and then turned into Macho Mandow"
Yeah, pretty much this. Think we've all realized WWE's never gonna do anything substantial with Sandow, so we're all just hoping he goes to another company or at least down to NXT, where his talents can be utilized correctly.
It wasn't so much that Sandow was a phase, but he's pretty much telling us that he's content with being a comedy jobber for life. I'm not going to fight for anyone that won't fight for themselves.
Sandow would make the best corporate heel champion. The promos would be fantastic. He wouldn't even need to be good in the ring because he could get his ass kicked the entire match and win with assistance from the Authority.
Huge missed opportunity by putting someone with zero charisma in that spot instead of Sandow.
A serious, heel Damien Sandow feuding with Ryback for the IC title wouldn't only be interesting, it' d put some prestige back onto that belt by the time those two were done with it.
Sandow's popularity is sadly over. He was just a phase like Ryder and Fandango, and I'm sure there will be more people to join that list in the coming years.
He was wildly popular while he was on television doing something highly entertaining (to most, I thought it was ai't).
He's now barely on television and when he is, he's doing something utterly lacklustre.
It was never Daniel Bryan levels of "We've watched you be an amazing wrestler and brilliant character for years" - he still had to move past comedy babyface and that didn't happen.
But yeah, shame on all of us because we're totally the crowd you're watching and judging.
Seriously, The Intellectual Savior could come back tomorrow night on Raw and I would be totally okay with that. Everything that he did which literally buried this character in the first can easily be forgotten. The Intellectual Savior was that strong of a heel when he was going strong in his debut. Remember he was given the MITB contract, but we all know how that failed. Bring back what made him one of the best heels in the WWE.
Some of them jumped off the bandwagon. They see that he'll probably never be a legit main even yet so they kinda stopped being fans. Some people are just fans of those who are successful.

Yeah, smart people who want to enjoy what they're watching.
I would happily do that if I could, but unfortunately, I'm tethered to my need for the top stars to be great on the mic, and Vince hates mic work.
I still want Sandow to be successful but I let it go because it's never going to happen. When he lost the cash in to Cena, that was the death knell, and I didn't even watch the Mizdow character because it was too painful to look at.
A lot of people were a fan of the Mizdow gimmick. The gimmick ended, like we all knew it had to and would. I don't know why anyone expected Sandow's next gimmick to top that one.
Pretty much this. At least with Bryan beforehand, and Ambrose now, we still have hope that the push we are/were hoping for will/would finally materialise.
With Sandow, they didn't even give him the payoff that he deserved and that the fans wanted. Having him go over The Miz was the most logical thing to do, not to mention the EASIEST booking decision to do right, as all it required was the right match outcome, but they couldn't even get that right.
The fans have just given up. Despite his huge reaction at WM and the months leading up to it, they never followed up on his soaring popularity. Not even a blow off match at Extreme Rules against Miz.
I wouldn't say I forgot him, but he has certainly dropped in popularity once that mizdow gimmick died.
