After this morning, WWE really needs to broadcast more international shows

WWE showing Beast from the East was such a breath of fresh air when it came to the audience and the setting. I know it was a normal arena like every other, but the vibe of it being in another country and having a whole different set of fans who's mentality is different of the USA's brought something really special to the show and you could see it in the performance of the talents.

Which is why I think WWE should do a lot more if their shows from other countries. I mean come on, WWE markets itself as an international brand which tours around the world, so aside from two RAW/Smackdowns a year from the UK, why is every single show in the US?

Not only that, but WWE tour the same cities 2-3 times a year and that's just on television, not including house shows. WWE probably work each city in the US about 5-6 times a year. And people wonder why the crowds aren't as good anymore, I mean not only are they mostly composed of soccer moms taking their kids for most of the cities, but the special feeling of WWE being in their town is removed because they're there so much. If you miss Raw in Atlanta, don't worry they'll film Raw there again in 4-5 months, or if you can't wait for that, they'll be doing a house show there in another 2-3 months.

When WWE does these video packages about touring Italy, Spain, Ireland, Mexico, Japan, India etc... Why can't they just stay there for that week and film Raw/Smackdown or even a PPV from there?

It makes WWE look even more like the leading dominant brand because it's shows are everywhere.

It makes the events even more special because they're only in that country once or twice a year if they're lucky so the fans are going to be going crazy to actually see the wrestlers and they'll be hot all night to see someone low on the card.

Surely it'll be SO much easier on the wrestlers themselves? I mean how fucking harsh is it that they tour a foreign country and do shows nearly every night but then have to catch a LONG flight back to the US just so they can get back by Monday to do RAW or Sunday to do a PPV? Just let them spend the week, doing WWE events in Italy for example, then fly back the weekend, let them rest up for two days like they usually do in the US schedules, then back to work.

I mean, at this point in time, with the fanbase WWE has and the money they have it's fucking ridiculous that they still have to tour places like nowheresville, Kentucky to crickets, when they could be doing a show from Barcelona and getting a HUGE reaction for a normal episode of RAW and Smackdown.

I was literally going to make this exact thread, you are spot on. For all WWE's bragging about being an international brand they rarely put their money where their mouth is. Especially when you look over the other side of the fence at UFC, they have events in Europe and Australasia and other places several times a year that are broadcast live - WWE don't broadcast anything outside of North America/UK (and even then, that's only like four RAWs a year.)

Network exclusive "special events" are a win for everyone involved and will actually help WWE become legitimately international.

I hope these special network shows happen every month or two, and keep having them in international settings from one of their tours. Places like Sydney, Beijing, Dublin, Berlin, Paris and Moscow. Even when they do the UK tours they could film RAW & SD in the usual London and Manchester but make these specials in Dublin, Belfast or Glasgow.

I now hope WWE does a special edition of RAW in the Tokyo Dome and make it a big event like RAW 1000 with a WWE Title match, that would have an excellent atmosphere, Wrestlemania style!

i think they will. there is an australian tour in august so you can expect at least one of those shows be it sydney or melbourne to air live

the next european tour is november and it would be something to see a show air live from dublin or belfast as i can't ever remember a wrestling promotion airing a show from either of those cities..though ufc have done a couple of shows in dublin and one in belfast

a live broadcast from the middle east in say uae, qatar or saudi arabia would also be unique as well, especially given women are banned from performing so wwe would get in all kinds of shit from people online for airing said show :D

wwe held about 320 main-roster live events last year and only 116 or so of those aired on tv or ppv so they have a huge amount of stuff they could air on the network if they wanted for little to no extra money

wwe cross-over events in mexico (with aaa) and japan (with new japan) would be something to behold if they could make it happen

Unique settings really help to make it feel like a global product and something special when you see this kind of different show. That's part of the reason that NXT is so popular, the unique feel it has to it.

Doubtful, you can do video streaming with ease from your own room if you have a decent internet connection. Getting stuff boradcasted from Japan shouldnt be much of an issue in the 21 century.

I assume the cost comes from getting your guys, gals and gear there.

it was kinda neat, the audience chanted both face and heel, they would boo or hiss the heel but then cheer for him to get up when he was being beat down too much.
I found that way different to US/UK crowds.

They did the new day sucks and still cheered Kofi, when Brock was laying into him, they cheered for Kofi to fight back, and they asked "one more time" on the suplex :p

so it was little odd seeing them cheer both sides and chant for the guy getting ass beat to get up and fight.

It was definitely a fun show, especially because of the major contrast put on display in the NXT title match. I don't think it'd be as much fun anywhere else though... It's not like WWE Live from Sri Lanka is gonna be a special show.

I'm all for it, the best part of that show was the fans. So sick of the smarky American crowds with their silly self absorbed chants and nonsense like that. The Japanese fans didn't care if you're from da indys or the WWE system they were there to be entertained not to shit on certain wrestlers just because.

Because WWE wants a uniform look and feel to their traditionally televised product, and moving the RAW and SmackDown façade overseas is cost-prohibitive for a lot of countries.

If they start airing RAW's and SmackDowns from minor foreign countries with makeshift arena setups, people are going to start thinking they're going out of business and trying to do stuff on the cheap.

Not that I'm opposed to airing punched-up House Shows on the Network. Its just if they can't have the façade and production values, its a non-starter for WWE to have RAW and SmackDown broadcast that way. And just FYI, I like the WWE.. but not enough to stay up until like 4:30 am... no matter how good the Balor/Owens match was. I'll catch that show when I resub just before Battleground.

This is the same company who have cut pyros from the opening of the show/ a bunch of guys entrances and stopped using custom stages for PPVs. They're doing more than enough to make it look like they're going out of business already. This shouldn't be an issue.
