Ric Flair talking about why NXT is better than TNA and Ring Of Honour

Controversial maybe, but to be fair, I have to agree with Flair on this, I can't comment too much about ROH as to be honest, I haven't watched enough of it but in regards to TNA, well for me personally I could never get into the product, I felt the talent was fantastic down there but the actual product itself always came across as very amateur to me and that's why I couldn't take to it, personally, however NXT hooked me soon as I started to watch it properly, as opposed to catching the back end of it before Raw as I used to often do.

I will say though that from what I've seen of Lucha Underground, I do really like that, I prefer WWE over it simply because LU strikes me as more of a CSI type show as opposed to a wrestling show as such, however it's very different and very good and the production there is fantastic and very impressive.

However in regards to TNA (again, I can't comment on ROH really), NXT absolutely blows it out of the water for me.

Anyway, what are your thoughts, again, keep it respectful to other people's opinions, there is no right or wrong if someone prefers ROH to NXT for example, or vica versa, however what are your thoughts in regards to things here, I thought this could be pretty interesting :)

LU=ROH>NXT>TNA>WWE

For me, LU and ROH have the best weekly TV shows out there. LU delivers the best storylines and ROH has the best in-ring action. NXT is starting to stagnate a bit for me, the major events are still good but I'm finding the weekly show harder to watch. TNA has it's moments for me but it just too bad consistently for me to get into it. WWE's weekly programming is shockingly bad to the point where I can't watch it at all.

I like LU from what I've seen also, I just feel it's very different that comparing them doesn't seem right to me, sure it's based around a wrestling show and has matches but the way it's presented seems quite non wrestling to me, if that makes sense, it's hard to explain what I mean.

But yeah, LU is very good :)

Yeah, I think it's just down to opinion as some people may enjoy those products more, which is fine of course, I just think it's interesting hearing Flair's take on things here and the things he mentions also :)

I think the thread is ok, it's not a comparison thread as such but more about Flair's take on things and our thoughts on that, if the mods feel it should be closed then that's ok, though as long as people keep it respectable it should be ok I think, it's more about Flair's thoughts and insights here which I thought people might like to hear :)

I was just saying to a friend about this just now in regards to LU, I do wonder how it would fair as a product on mainstream TV though I do feel it would get quite a following.

Although it's based around wrestling, from what I've seen it kinda feels different to a wrestling show and that's simply with the way it's presented for me, it feels more like a soap opera (for lack of a better word) than it does a wrestling show, and even though I know primarily that's what wrestling is (a soap opera) it feels like a different thing for me completely, it's wrestling, where as LU doesn't feel like wrestling, even though obviously it is.

That's what I mean about how it's really hard to explain, it's like I'm not a fan of CSI or regular soap operas (which for me are considered things such as Eastenders in the UK) yet LU is presented so well and has such nice production too, I could no doubt get into it pretty well, it just feels more like watching Walking Dead than it does watching Wrestling, if that makes sense that's why I can't, personally, compare the two because they feel completely different.

It's really hard to explain, though I'm sure you know what I mean, it feels completely different to TNA, WWE, WCW, ECW etc... it feels more like a TV show than it does a wrestling show basically.

I think it would do pretty well in the UK if it was given chance but it's not even on TV over here as far as I'm aware and if it is, it's not on mainstream TV which is where it needs the exposure, give it that and I think it could be really successful, non wrestling fans and fans that wouldn't even go anywhere near WWE I could see watching and getting into LU.

I like it though, I was very impressed with it when I watched it after the Del Rio thread that was here a while back :)

I agree with you here except I think ROH has it's fair share of good promo cutters. Martini, Jay Briscoe, Lethal, they can all hold their own on the mic. I think NXT can actually be quite lacking in the promo department sometimes but they have the better segments overall.

And Kaz's "hotter than Tatooine, cooler than Hoth, Jedi on the streets but a Sith between the sheets" promo had me cracking up the entire way through.

..Isn´t it kinda obvious? WWE have been scavenging the indies and other promotions for some time now to get the best talent, and they don´t need to hire backyard (cheap) wrestlers to fill up cards.
And they have the entire WWE production machine behind them.
-I´d say that it´s a no contest..NXT´s only limit is creative and how the talent will be booked on the main roster.

TNA has been garbage for years. I tuned back in for a couple of shows because so often people claim it's "gotten better" and my god did it stin. Quite possibly worse than apocalyptic WCW.

Lucha Underground is just ok. Pretty bland and basic. No really great speakers or personalities. Hasn't lived up to the hype.

In terms of the product they are selling:

Lucha Underground and NXT are the best.

I like TNA and Raw equally, but WWE gets edge obviously, but I am equally excited to see theirs shows each week. Those who don't like TNA are really missing out. Its like alternate universe WWE, with many of the same people, from announcers, wrestlers to refs.

As for ROH, I got about 1-2 months in now, but I didn't pay for the PPV so I didn't see how great it was, but I like the show each week.

Which leaves Smackdown, the red headed stepchild that isn't worth a pound of crap. I rather watch WWE Superstars than Smackdown at this point, and Superstars is generally weaker than ROH.

Everything > Smackdown

:Rollins.
Wait, did you just say those who don't like TNA are missing out and that you like TNA and Raw equally? If it's as good as Raw then I'm not really missing anything.
