WWE's biggest misstakes in 2015 IMO

1. Beating Rusev so soon. Rusev should have been on a long undefeated streak, eventually winning the WWE championship.

2. Pushing ROH-talent that can't draw (Ambrose, Rollins, Bryan).

3. Having John Cena feud for the US title and not being in the main events.

Edit: 4. Banning the Curb Stomp

Raw on monday had the 2nd worst ratings since 1997 (outside holidays) according to Meltzer.

This thread needs to be closed. The OP is obviously just trying to start arguments because he's just making crap up now. For the unintelligent that need clarifying:

1. Bryan hasn't been "pushed" this year. Bryan has been injured. The only time he was not injured saw him competing for the IC title amongst R Truth, Wade Barrett, Ziggler etc. Mid card fodder in other words.

2. Bryan is a proven ratings draw. Check the numbers chief, Bryan segments never lose viewership and have shown to consistently gain viewers since late 2013 or so.

3. Ambrose was never in ROH. He was in CZW and DragonGate.

4. Rollins was in ROH, and yea his title reign has been on the dull side. But who is to blame for that? Who scripts him to cut these monotonous 20 min promos when a nice 3 minute one would do the trick? Who books him and writes shitty nonsensical feuds?

5. John Cena has already feuded with every single person on the roster in a main event role. You can't keep going back to the Cena well forever. You need to build new stars. That's what they are trying to do here bud, in case you hadn't noticed.

6. Kevin Owens was ROH champion and he's also easily been the best part of the show the past month or so.

7. Ambrose is one of the best talents in the WWE but even he can't conteol the horrendous booking they have given him. Even with that booking he still consistently gets the best reactions and that's what matters.

8. You can't change ratings over night. It's impossible. You need 9 months or so of top flight programming to start gaining viewership. That's what happened with WWE in 1997. WCW undoubtedly had the better show in 1996, but by 1997 WWE had gotten off their ass and were consistently producing a better show week in and week out, only the ratings were still being won by WCW. It took over a year of WWE having a better show for them to finally catch WCW in the ratings. Once they did, they never looked back, and the rest is history.

The point is, having 1 good Raw a month does dick for ratings. They need to string together 6, 7, 8 months straight where 3 out of the 4 Raw's in each month are great shows. Only then will it start to get noticeably better. We all know in the current environment WWE is incapable of having even 3 straight Raw's be great shows, so the ratings are just gonna be what they are gonna be. A 1997 version of Stone Cold Steve Austin could walk through the door right now and it would mean fuck all for the ratings because NO ONE WILL KNOW THAT ITS WORTH WATCHING AGAIN. You could get a time machine, get the 2000 version of the Rock, make up a new name for him, make him WWE champ, and the ratings wouldn't budge more than .5 point or so.

So quit dumping on the current talent, they are working their asses off trying to make the crap they are given on a daily basis work. Reigns, Ambrose, Rollins, Owens, Cesaro, Wyatt, etc are all big time talents that can draw eyeballs to the product if given something good to work with for a extended period of time.

So Bryan and rollins can't draw.. lets compare these none drawing guys to huge stars shall we

First 3 months of 2015 with Lesnar as champion raw averaged 4 million viewers live (12 weeks)
Past 3 months with rollins as champion raw has averaged 3.9 million viewers live (14 weeks)

So taking the belt off Lesnar has resulted in a massive 2.5% drop in viewers during a period most consider the post mania lull where people switch out anyway and watch final 4, NBA and stanley cup playoffs.

Rock as champion in 2013 raw averaged 4.65 million viewers live
Bryan as champion in 2014 (up to the point he announced he was injured) raw averaged 4.49 million viewers live

1. Lettig Roman Reigns main event WrestleMania.
2. Making Reigns look like a Superman and the next golden boy instead of a ass kicking guy.
3. Making Rollins look like shit that cant win on this own.
4. Ambrose fighting in the opener of WrestleMania while his Shield buddys are in bigger storylines and in bigger matches.
5. Daniel Bryan coming back before the Royal Rumble instead after.
6. Rusev & Lana breaking up.
7. Cena vs Rusev Feud. Lets say its the Cena Curse. Rusev lost everything after that feud i mean everything. Dont just blame Cena.
8. Banning the Curb Stomp.
9. Kane & Big Show in the last minutes of the Royal Rumble as the unstoppable force.
10. unclean PPV Finishes on nearly every PPV.
11. Lesnar looking strong in the Triple Threat Championship Match at the Rumble made the WM Main Event implausible.
Rumble had me like: You can give Lesnar 50 Cena Finishers but the could be on his feet again while Roman gives him Spears & Punches he cant even walk. Logic?
12. Nikki Bellas Title Reign and not letting atleast one NXT Diva being called up in to the Main Roster.

I think the biggest contributing factor is booking. I know thats an easy thing to say, but it is true. It's hard to just pinpoint well they did this wrong and that wrong etc. Booking talent is dealing with a large puzzle. It just so happens they build something up then break it down too quick, then take something that just isn't going to work and push it like crazy.

This year I'd say they've made some improvements, Owens is doing phenomenal. He's quick witted, and can move very well for someone his size. I know you said ex ROH guy is a problem, but theres no denying that he has gotten over with the crowd very quickly. Still has a way to go, but I can see him going really far.

Not having Brock Lesnar sign a full-time contract.

WWE as a whole has dwindled in ratings for the past decade and then some for a bunch of reasons like crappy overall booking, both short and long term, and the failure to capitalize on hot talent.

To put a large chunk of the blame on "indy" stars doesn't make any sense really.

#23 ·
Most people went through an indy at one point, its just ridiculous to think that their past history in other promotions means anything to them on TV now. They do not acknowledge it and without the indies there would be no WWE. Are they supposed to sign people based on their looks alone? So its bad to have experience now? The Rusev thing and Curb Stomp thing I agree with.

Biggest mistakes of 2015:

1. Continuing the authority angle.
2. push the Bella Twins.
3. Sting losing at Wrestlemania to Triple fucking H
4. Cena holding the US title. He has no business being the champion.
5. WWE as a whole from the creative staff needs to be taken out back and shot.

#27 ·
So your blaming ratings that have been poor for 10+ years on guys from the Indies, Ratings will never be good again until WWE become mainstream and have a great product week in week out that isn't over saturated, I don't see wrestling ever being mainstream off of WWE's back alone, they need another rival the size of WCW and that's just the start of many things that would need to fall into place

To make any superstar on the roster a legit draw you need a good 12-18 months of solid character development, booking, and favourable storylines. Something the WWE can't do these days

The best example I can think of WWE management just generally not caring or being bothered to put effort into their show was the whole tune it halftime rubbish during Cena/Lesnar I think it was when they were up against NFL last year

OP's biggest MISTAKE is this thread, his second biggest MISTAKE is spelling MISTAKES, MISSTAKES!

#29 ·
They treat the active wrestlers like chicken shit. They should job the part timers and move on unless they have a contract and even then they shouldn't get superman booking.

They need to improve the pacing of the show. Book the show like you have 5 hours of material and need to cram it into 3.

Say what you will about Russo but he knew how to pace a show.

Allow more experimentation in matches. Just because that's the way it's been done shouldn't mean that there aren't other alternatives.

All these "indyguys":lmao Like all indyguys are the same.

You dont see a difference between Rollins,Owens,Ambrose and Bryan? Cmon. If it wasnt for the "indyguys" wwe would suck worse then they already do.

No Sami zayn who had the 2 best matches in wwe last year. Arrival against Cesaro who is another indyguy and R evolution against Neville who is wait for it... another indyguy.

No Rollins or Ambrose which means no shield and no shield means Roman Reigns would probably still be called Leakee and come out to the ring as the usos bodyguard.

No Owens which means no Owens vs Cena which has been the only interesting feud in the past few months.

No Balor no itami no Joe no Uhaa. Fuck nxt would be Mojo Rawley vs Baron Corbin maineventing the show. Yeah even Tyler Breeze and big cass are indyguys. One is 7 feet and one 5'10 but theyre all the same right? :lmao

Dont even get me started on the women. Paige,Sasha,Lynch,Bayley,Natalya,Emma all non existent. Yeah Charlotte doesnt have an indy background and she,s great but thats about it.

No Sheamus,Barret,Sandow not even Rusev.

So unless your idea of an entertaining show is watching Cena vs Orton and Miz vs Ryback for the rest of your life I suggest you stop blaming "indyguys"

Im not even going to touch the whole ratings bullshit since other people have proven it to be bullshit.

The biggest mistake wwe have made this year and many others is bad booking simple as that. Guys that could be stars are instead directionless. They have 135 minutes of non commercial tv time every week on raw with the average bell to bell wrestlingtime is 30 minutes. Where are the other 100 minutes going? Authority rambling for 20 min. Then Rollins rambling for another 10. Cena rambling. Heyman rambling. Kane rambling. Thats 70 minutes of rambling right there with 15 minutes of michael cole plugging and 15 minutes of entrances. You cant do a 10 minute opening promo and then have 20 smaller 3 minute promos for guys like Cesaro,Neville,Ziggler etc. Let them talk about themselves and what they are doing. 3 minutes is a long time. Some of the best promos ever are shorter then that. More storylines and more character progresion for guys and girls top to bottom. Thats it.

Technically Making Nikki Divas Champ this long has been a genius move. Shes hot, great attires, gets pops, over (when shes face haha). Don't really get that hostility. Biggest mistake this year has not been whos champ, but the booking. It has been absolutely shocking.
