Is The PG Era Even PG?

Let's be real. WWE keeps selling whatever this stuff is as the "PG" era, but what's PG about it? Most of it feels like straight up G rated with occasional mild swear words like "ass" & "bitch".

When I think of PG movies, I think of the Star Wars franchise, How To Train Your Dragon, Big Hero 6, etc. I don't get any of those vibes from the "PG" era. It's bordering on farts & burps. The wrestlers literally have slap offs in the middle of a fight, most of the mid-lower card has an embarrassing gimmick, & on Raw, Dean perpetuated Randy's "Justin Bieber" mock while Rollins told him quote, "shut your mouth AMMBROSSE". I was like what the fuck?

Is this really what PG is nowadays? I'm not asking for Agents Of Shield but at least give us something that doesn't seem like it was written by an 11 year old boy.

Anyone else feel this way?

I've felt this way since 2009. The product is so pussified now, we can't even get a good Hell in a Cell Match anymore, and the Hardcore Matches feels so tamed compared to how they used to be. You have wrestlers saying that they will leave another wrestler in a pool of his own drool instead of blood. You have wrestlers telling people to shut up instead of shut the hell up. I literally wanted to shut off the TV when it got to the point where they would stop a match if a wrestler starts bleeding. I don't even think Austin can throw up the middle finger anymore when he appears.

They should've never publicly traded the company. Now they have to please all those board members. Another problem is they shouldn't have joined all these groups, in hopes that Linda McMahon wins the senate seat. They are on-board with all these anti-bully, anti-LBGT, pro-woman, fight-cancer, anti-drinking, anti (insert) programs that it is hard for the talent to say something that will not offend at least one of their sponsors and one of these anti-groups they choose to support. It benefits them financially because their are more families and children attending WWE events than ever before. The crowds are much different than the rowdy crowds they had in the attitude era, which was mostly 18-49 year old men losing their minds over Stone Cold. Now it's just families who are not getting too caught up, because it's a family function, not guys hanging out.

Imagine the opportunities WWE could've had with The New Day, in the middle of the Ferguson and Baltimore crisis. They wouldn't take that risk because the board is afraid to hear from Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson in the morning. So scratch off. How can they be as effective as Nation of Domination when they are not capitalizing on real issues? They are just a caricature of NOD.

Imagine the opportunities WWE could've had if Rusev had side-kicked Lana. I'm against domestic violence, but something like that could've boosted more interest in Ziggler and more real hate towards Rusev and the Bulgarians. However, WWE couldn't take that chance because the board members didn't want to hear from Susan G. Komen and the pro-woman groups. They can't even tell a simple gay joke, without gays assuming that they're homophobic. I don't think it's gays and women as much as it is these opportunists in these sleazy anti(something) groups. God forbid, they tell a black joke. Everybody is so sensitive these days.

Bruce Jenner thinks he's a chick now. Imagine the success of a similar gimmick in the WWE? The LBGT group would lose their minds, I guess WWE's stock-holders aren't having that.

They don't have to go back to the cursing and over-sexualized product of the attitude era, but at least make it entertaining. I guess they still benefit financially, so I shouldn't complain too much about it. But it sucks. Even Spongebob is more PG than WWE. WWE should be rated G.

Hour 1: They should donate 1 hour of RAW to NXT or development, while including promos or segments from the current talent.
Hour 2: The PG hour.
Hour 3: It's 10 o'clock, put the kids to bed. This needs to be the TV-14 and hold nothing back, hour.

Like i understand not having a TV-14 product anymore but WWE feels like its one step away from having championships decided with a game of duck duck goose. OMG EXTREEEEEEEEEME RULEZZZZZZ let me get a weapon and hit my opponent in the arm and stomach instead of anywhere that would actually cause damage.

Wrestling is violent, there is no way around it.

Well it's certainly not PG. You're still talking about simulated acts of violence, mild language, and scantily clad women.

They are certainly more driven to making it an entertainment entity, which is why the entire WWE brand is so diluted. (In other words, they were essentially PG pre-attitude era, but they let more go, and weren't afraid of wrestling.)

It's basically G rated in all but name.

Yeah Rollins is your classic "Disney Bad Guy", question, did Disney buy WWE or what??

Rollins and Authority and WWE is so Rated-E for Everyone, with the baddest of guys are Rated-G at best. Seth is the classic grimy, sneaky bad guy who is a coward.....He is so Rated-E, that his fights with Ambrose, make Dean look like CM Punk 2.0, aka they set the rating so low, that even the most basic of dogging, makes your guy feel so hardcore and cool.

If Ambrose the Lunatic Fringe was put in Attitude, he would look like J and J, Hardcore Holly would stuff him so far down his own throat that he would dig in like an Alabama tick, and Al Snow would take the scraps. If Rollins was thrown in with the bad guys, he would feel like a gimmick. Guys like Rollins wouldn't exist if it weren't for MITB. Which is why I love and hate MITB.
