CBS Detroit recently interviewed Scott Steiner at the Motor City Comic Con in Detroit. Below are some highlights:

* Steiner called wrestling today "hard to watch."

* Steiner called his time with the nWo the best time to be in the business. He noted that they were going to stadiums, and that he's glad he went through that. He doesn't see a boom period like that ever happening again.

* He once again said that wrestling is hard to watch, and said it was "brutal." He said to people who still watch, he's hoping that "maybe they'll snap out of it and get a brain cell."

* He said that he's been asked to return, but didn't say by whom. He said that there's no money anymore, citing Rey Mysterio and CM Punk quitting. He said that WWE is a monopoly and that the company doesn't want to pay anybody.

* Steiner was asked about Brock Lesnar and noted the Lesnar brought in a different audience with his UFC career. He said that Lesnar is legit and wrestling needs more legit guys like him and not midgets. He said that Lesnar is being used correctly.

Shame to see badasses like Harper, and Cesaro being totally wasted. I agree with a lot of what Steiner said, I want to see more wrestlers who are legit tough guys or have an amateur background. WWE says that they want Divas to be like Ronda yet they waste talents like Natalya, Tamina and Phoneix..... The fuckin hypocrisy!!!

As if shit that went on during the Attitude Era didn't make you question the people watching and their "brain cells"? I'm not defending today's product, but holy shit was there dumb shit during his time as well.

I do however somewhat agree with him when it comes to the LEGIT guys like Brock vs the "midgets". My problem is not that there's too many "midgets", it's more that there's just not enough BADASSES anymore.

Also I think there very well can be another boom, it's just so many companies are presenting their product so bad for that to happen ATM.

Pretty much. But I guess if someone can enjoy drivel then more power to them.

After Steiner's terrible 2003 run in WWE, he has little place talking about wrestling that's "hard to watch".

Honestly though, I wish he had a better run in WWE. He started to pick up momentum later in the year, turning heel after feuding with Test- where the matches started shit and slowly worked up to decent, and he played a decent role in Team Bischoff vs. Team Austin at Survivor Series. He's another guy like Goldberg, Ultimo Dragon, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, that I wish had better runs in WWE post WCW. Imagine if the mid-2000s in WWE had those stars running around? Plus you had face money in Razor Ramon waiting. But I digress.

It's sad to hear him trash WWE so much, and even sadder to hear him discredit the current talent as "midgets". Yeah, he was a larger than life guy, and that's great for him, but there's plenty of different ways to entertain. Plus, I've always hoped to hear "Holla if ya hear me!" blare out on Raw one day.

Shame on you OP for putting words in Steiner's mouth with the midget crap! Don't try putting your own twist on someone else's words to make it say what you want it to say! Steiner in no way buried WWE, he stated his own opinion for which some will agree and some won't. Personally I don't give a f**k what Steiner says and he can choose to live in his own era which has come and gone. People change, likes change, styles change, nothing stays the same. The day of the "big guy" is over. That isn't what people are looking for any more, outside of a handful of nostalgic fans who are into bodybuilders . They want to be entertained and see talent. A big guy can be a good special attraction but they are too slow and boring for today's fans. Only a few of them are needed and a lot of fans are turned off by the roided up bodybuilder look. It's laughable that Steiner made the brain cell comment because the general consensus among most people is big, bodybuilder = dumb meathead.

Only if you're still living in the AE.

What is missing from wrestling today is story lines and intensity not steroid abusers

The 'midget' slayers are just in the closet homos lusting over bronzed steroid abusing men covered in baby oil
Quite true.

Eh I think he's right. With a couple of of exceptions this modern crop of guys are not real life tough guys and people can see that.
The same can be said of a lot of guys from the past as well. Just because someone is big does not mean they are a "tough guy". Right now we have Ryback who technically should fit the role, big guy lover's, want. However, he is not as over as one might think he would be. Some downright won't watch his matches for disliking him so much. WWE doesn't seem to really want to pull the trigger on him and he's been very up and down. Often his catchphrase is what people like about him, practically being silent when he comes in until he starts them chanting. He doesn't appear to be a very "tough guy" either, often botching moves that require feats of strength.

Someone should let him know that steroids are frowned on these days so thus all the "midgets". Maybe he has a problem with them as they are a reminder of how he use to be.
Exactly. People don't like the steroid jacked up look these days.
