Face of fear? How exactly? By ambushing wrestlers and coming out when the lights are out? His spooky-like promos? Not really. And what is he supposed to be? He's portrayed as a cult leader who at times has supernatural powers. Why is it only sometimes though? I don't get it. And that cringe-worthy spider signature he does in the ring. The commentators are spooked by it but how the fuck is that spooky? Any gymnast can do that move. It's a dumb gimmick and he should just be repackaged into a dancer gimmick.
I've called him the new facepalm of fear. He needs real wins to give him an aura of authenticity. Right now, he is just an ineffectual crazy guy, shouting at the sky, and losing any major feud he is in.
He is boring. The gimmick/character hasn't progressed. It is now a complete and utter failure. He has no purpose. I'm happy for Bray to fall further into oblivion. :shrug
Well you said it, he's a cult leader that has supernatural powers. How is that supposed to make sense? The spider is like Undertaker's situp, it's just a signal that shit is about to go down.
Anyway, Bray would be great if they booked him to win some feuds. Losing to Taker and Cena in back to back Manias didn't help his career a bit but if he could get a slight tweaking, maybe turn tweener and go against the Authority like his original gimmick was, I think it would be a huge success. His gimmick is the least of his problems.
I used to watch his promos for the first few months but now he just gets fast forwarded. His character was going nowhere, same rambling week in and out, no progress, no development, no nothing...just a talented guy stuck in limbo.
Forget big wins etc. He needs an actual storyline, to build his character. Find out more about sister abigail, maybe you could have the Undertaker resurrect her in the form of some other female "nxt" wrestler, maybe find out what the buzzards are and where they lead. Just anything
To be fair you're exactly right on the NXT thing. I think Vince is saving that one up for whenever he gets a Diva he doesn't like too much. So expect Bailey to be the one sacrificed to appease Vince Satan.
I've said this for months now - Bray has never committed a vile, heinous act on television to establish that base of why people should fear him. He has a character than lends to amazing creativity in that regard and they've never capitalised.
Bray is the epitome of a guy who NEEDS a stable. His character makes little sense without a stable behind him. He's a cult leader with no cult who looses all of the feuds he's in and still runs around acting like hes some huge threat to the roster. Creative uses Bray as the "oh shit" wrestler who is supposed to be scary to the other superstars. When the Authority wants to kayfabe punish someone they say "You're opponent is...Bray Wyatt!" like thats supposed to be a big deal. They try to book him as a scary character like the Undertaker but he loses too much to be taken seriously.
The Wyatt Family was my favorite stable of the past decade and it was perfect and I actually saw them as a threat to the roster. 3 huge ass guys who dominated people and pulled creepy cult type shit like kidnapping and whatnot. Bray needs his family back now and I hope they give it to him soon. Luke Harper and Eric Rowan are impressive for their size as a tag team and they can stay a tag team but they can still rejoin Wyatt to help his character out. I for one would like to see him actually pull the "evil" out of somebody and win a feud and slowly start collecting a following of superstars and form a legit faction of 4 or 5 other guys. They can even keep kayfabe alive and say that Bray couldn't influence the stronger minded bigger stars like Cena but can easily turn the weaker minded lower mid carders or something. I'd like to see him kidnap his brother Bo and slowly infect his mind with hatred instead of the inspirational stuff. A character like Bo would be perfect for this.
Wyatt is fine but he is no Undertaker, that's the problem here. Everyone keeps saying he supposed to be the "new Undertaker" but I haven't seen a damn thing to warrant that sort of expectation.
Just because he's a dark character doesn't mean he's the "new undertaker", he doesn't have any supernatural powers or anything like that.
This is what happens when fan expectations and reality don't match but in this instance the expectations are too high and not only that but are virtually unattainable by any reasonable standards.
You can't simply just recreate a character like Undertaker, it's a totally different character with a totally different person portraying it. He should be judged on his own talents, which are different from Undertaker's and no more.
And once again this is only his SECOND YEAR on the roster and dude is young as fuck he is nowhere near his prime and at this point people are still getting acclimated to the Bray Wyatt character.
It's ridiculous to expect a 28 year old man to be able to match the legacy of a character created over 20 years ago. It's ludicrous.
Whatever. Everyone will be on his dick again when they start the build towards Mania. Rinse, repeat.
Y'all can call Bray Wyatt "boring" week in and week out but you'll still cheer for Seth Rollins
:eyeroll
A guy can be totally unoriginal and uninteresting, book him good and all of the sudden he's "omg the best heel in the business".
Smarks flock towards a guy who is decent and propped up by good booking. And they'll abandon a guy who they used to call excellent when his booking begins to fail him.
Rinse, repeat. Can't wait for the same people in this thread to be jerking Bray off when he's getting his next push.
I've totally lost interest in Bray Wyatt. I fast forward his promos everytime.
He just is plain boring and I just get irritated when he shows up.
Did not believe that would be the case a year ago, but I really couldn't care less for that guy, the way things are going now.
Bray Wyatt needed a win over a wrestler that matters. It's his talent that he is still relevant after so many high profile losses. Losing to Cena was a setback. A loss to a washed up Taker was a crushing blow to his career. He needs a high profile feud that ends with Wyatt winning.
Bray hasn't made much sense since his feud with Johnny Boy last year. Leave it to Johnny Boy to ruin a good young wrestler. I fear he has done the same with Rusev this year as well.
It just pisses me off this guy is not a babyface, he could have an epic face run with the crowd fully supporting him. Right now, hes an annoying heel who rambles on about random shit, and randomly attacks babyface superstars without reason. He moves on to feuds so quickly, that I facepalm when I see him inevitably attacking his next target. He needs a summer feud with The Authority.
Once again Bray fanboys and the ''he needs real wins'' bs, even if he was undefeated the Bray Wyatt character would be the same thing we are getting, problem it's how one dimensional he got, the guy has produced zero decent feuds and that not gonna change., he already feuded all the faces the remaining ones are Orton and Reigns and I bet those two feuds are gonna be bad.
His feuds are lackluster because they don't have any direction. Bray Wyatt character has no ambition, he is content with randomly attacking people without any logic or reason.
Basically, Bray needs a big win or do something really big to establish himself as the "new face of fear". He isn't going to do that by beating jobbers like Ryback in random feuds with 0 building and being a personal jobber to part timers like Undertaker.

Samael (Hebrew: סמאל, "Venom of God" or "Poison of God," also Sammael or Samil) is an important archangel in Talmudic and post-Talmudic lore, a figure who is accuser (devil), seducer and destroyer, and has been regarded as both good and evil. Rabbinical writings describe Samael as the guardian angel of Esau and a patron of Edom (or, the Roman empire).
In The Holy Kabbalah (Arthur Edward Waite, 255), Samael is described as the "wrath of God", and is listed as fifth of the archangels of the world of Briah. Also in the Kabbalah, Samael was said to be the Serpent who tempted Eve into sin. He even seduced and impregnated her with Cain. Samael then became the consort of Adam's first wife, Lilith, . He created with her a host of demon children, including a son, Sariel, the "Sword of Samael" (or Asmodai).
Those that enjoy reading, even fantasy based on reality lore like "John Constantine" often fought with Samael eater of worlds, who was enamored with a little girl who was bullied and an outcast orphan Abigail.
Bray Wyatt is reminiscent of Jake Roberts with the religious overtones to the character. I guess it's too much to ask individuals to look beyond simple comparisons "he's suppose to be the new undertaker", no he isn't. He is Bray Wyatt, you can link certain aspects of the character to other individuals but it's a brand new thing and it seems he's constantly going over people's heads. Shame considering these same folks say they are "smart".
If they give Wyatt two wives, some kids to serve as distractions, Luke Harper and Eric Rowan back, he would be the most interesting character on the roster. Instead, they water down his gimmick, he does the same lame speech, the same lame ish and the same lame one or two moves in the ring. When creative sucks this bad, wrestlers need to grab the "brass ring" as Vince says it. Even John Cena said something along these lines on Jericho's podcast. He said he tries to tell the talent to take risks, entertain the audience, but the talent is so afraid that they are gonna get demoted or buried as a result of talking risks and that's why they continue to stay boring. Oh well, at this rate, I'll give WWE about one or two more years, before it falls apart.
Daniel Bryan tried to be edgy, he choked Justin Roberts with tie "hanging" him it was brutal and great entertainment, but Daniel was fired. He was rehired cause Vince bipolar. Kevin Dunn will get any wrestler that tries to take risk and deviates from script, assigned move sets, or doesn't stick with choreography fired or suspended. Jim Cornette has said himself that any wrestler tries to wrestle Dunn gets them fired.
Cena is a liar and says shit like that to put himself over and make it look like its not wwe creatives fault but the roster's.
But the roster can't take risk or they are released, fired, suspended.
And we have proof of such in thousand of interviews with current and ex wrestlers online
