I'm watching the rivalries episode of haitch vs Shawn and watching his debut it just made me think.... Wow, going from that to practically running the company, I don't think any of us could've possible predicted that when he turned up on the scene. People give him a hard time cos he married steph but the guys work ethic and his current work with NXT is something to be admired and when he wantsbto be he reallynis the GOAT heel. One of the best of all time no matter what Bret says.
Triple H is a Tier 2 legend along with Shawn Michaels, Undertaker and Bret Hart IMO. One of the greatest heels of all time. Great rivalries with Foley, Rock, Shawn, Batista, Bryan etc. Leader of two of the most famous stables in WWE in the last 25 years. Has been doing extraordinary work with NXT. Haters will always hate but he is undoubtedly a legend.
haters gonna hate. Hunter's always going to have an asterix to his name but everone knows hes a legit star and those who hate him have to deal with him on top
For my money the greatest heel ever. People will obviously disagree and start linking me to YouTube videos of black and white clips of shit boring heels.
Paul's first baby steps are just like Vince after Vince's father passed he torch Vince. You can see Paul is thinking forward and making he company better and better.
His character? Again amazing. Some awesome matches, with Foley, Rock, Austin, Undertaker, etc. the list goes on and on.
People will hate simply because they are jealous. It is what it is.
There's positive HHH threads every day, citing how he should take over for Vince because...NXT. And then running down his paper legacy of WWE propaganda like he's a legend.
He's the guy that worked with the guys. No more. And no, it's not all because he married Steph. It's because he's a master politician. He was carrying Shawn and Nash's bags to get ahead. He made his connections early, and that's how he became what he became. Steph just ended up giving him ultimate power.
From a personal standpoint, sure, I respect that. Here's a guy with zero qualifications whatsoever to be near the salary he's making, but he gets to make it because of the games he played backstage and who he married. Good for him on that. He got ahead when he's not the most talented person, or even one of the 10 most talented people.
I view the "HHH is a legend" shit as a joke. He's a 'legend' simply because he's still THERE. Because he has to be there. Because he's Stephanie's wife. All of the other actual LEGENDS from his era, have moved on. But he's still there with the million dollar propaganda machine that is the WWE, making sure to remind the audience that HHH is a living legend at all times.
HHH is a legend, a great in-ring talent with superior psychology and technique than most of his peers. My problem with him is that he stayed in the ring too long. He should have unofficially retired after he passed the torch to Dave. I wish he had moved to being a part-timer in 2006.
Not everybody can't even be THAT guy. People who say shit like this have no concept of psychology (and yes I know you got this from Cornette).
What this means is he isn't talented but worked with talented people, so what I'm being told by this line of logic is that if you scratch HHH out of those big matches and those big angles and replace him with someone else it would be just as big...that is FALSE.
HHH is in the Roddy Piper paradox position. Piper gets no credit for drawing Wrestlemania but him being such a hot ass heel merits him getting some of the credit. It's not like Vince could have put anyone else in Piper's spot and things would have been just as good, it wouldn't have.
The hottest heel vs the hottest babyface will always make more money. HHH never would have been the best babyface but he could and was the best heel, end of story
I enjoyed watching him come up. I got on board with him from the beginning and only grew disenchanted with him during his reign of terror. He was def. one of my favorites and would have made it w/o Steph, though that surely helped grease the wheels.
One of the things that most bothers me is that this thread is going to be closed. Not because it is a bad thread but because of the jealous towards Paul and that he has never been a fan here.
On the other thing, people will get on their knee's and literally "Suck it" the way he is handling NXT.
triple H gets a lot of undeserved flak around here. Yeah he married the boss' daughter but so what? I think he would have been a legendary wrestler no matter who he married. If you ask me Triple H is among the top wrestlers of all-time.
As someone already stated, he'll always have the asterisks next to his name.
HHH hate will only get worse, when he runs the company everytime an IWC favorite doesn't get pushed all the hate will be directed at him.
Spread plenty of rep in this thread, HHH is a top tier talent just under the megastars in terms of popularity/impact etc and an amazing talent. That he's not up there with the big 3 is always seen as a detraction to his populairty and ability but if 2000 HHH was active today he'd be easily the best overall talent on the roster.
Hated HHH in 2000. Which is why he was awesome. Unfortunately after his first quad injury, his politicking went way up while his match quality went way down from like 2002-2004
Also he still holds grudges and puts his friends first.
Aside from that. I have grown some respect for him over the last few years. Aside from the aforementioned time period he is a great worker. Tremendous heel.
Thank you for making this thread. H has always been the best in the company. He didn't have the personality of The Rock, HBK, or Austin, but he played his part and definitely in a lot of ways put the The Rock and HBK over with his heel persona. I remember that match with Jericho, where he continued to match with a torn quad or something. (I actually stopped watching the WWE, when he went out.) The man is a GOAT. I will be a HHH fan, even when the WWE caves over and finally realize their crap ain't worth putting on television anymore-- like TNA should do now. Not only did he establish himself as the greatest heel of all time, but he also helped others become big names in the E. There is no Randy Orton or Batista without my man, Triple H. X-pac, the new age outlaws and Stephanie-- they would be no more than footnotes if it was not for Paul Levesque.
I saw his documentary. Witnessed his work, his respect for the company, his influence, the ideas he pitched to writers about how he should go about playing his character. Triple H was a creative genius. DX is hot garbage without H. I always through Michaels was a corny sissy, but Triple H kept the gimmick interesting.
Fast-forward to thousands of years later and Triple H is making talent no-one would've never heard of (all at NXT) relevant. There is no Shield without Triple H. He saw 3 boys at NXT and thought they would go together well. Triple H! That was all Triple H! If McMahon quits today the company would probably fall off the map, but creatively, Triple H is still a genius and deserves to be applauded and respected by all WWE fans for his hard work throughout the years and effort.
HHH is one of the best of the Attitude/Ruthless Aggression Eras.
Either as a face or a heel he had what it took on the mic and in the ring to get over (massive pops as a face with DX and nuclear heat during the McMahon-Helmsley Era.)
I've always considered his so called "reign of terror" to be the best part of the Ruthless Aggression Era, which I thought was otherwise bland. I don't like some of the booking decisions during that time. I'll always believe that Booker T should have gone over in their feud. And some others should have gone over HHH occasionally to give them a bit more of a rub. Maybe we wouldn't have been quite so bad off during the Cena era if some other stars had been built at the expense of a little bit of HHH's dominance. But HHH always did his job well during that period and I always found him entertaining whether it was cheering him as a face or hating him as a heel.
And one last thing for all those who say he only got where he is because of who he's married to: HHH's push starting with WM15 came well before he was married to or even dating Steph. They had already been married and divorced in kayfabe before they got married in real life. He was always going to get a big push because Vince liked him.
I always say that despite what people say about his marriage, HHH proved himself on his own. He came back from those nasty ass quad injuries without his wife, he got that huge 2002 MSG reaction without his wife and when he had good matches, it was him in the ring not his wife.
I may not agree with everything he says or does, but attacking him because of who the mother of his children is seems low to me.
I like Triple H. I think he has always been overrated, but I like him nonetheless, and is my favorite part of today's shitty product.
