As of now, there's barely any credible stars in the WWE. The rumored winner of MITB is primarily either Ambrose or Reigns. After Ambrose's bad booking by WWE, it's weird seeing how he's one of the 2 primary choices for the MITB. Because there's no one credible enough to have it. Barrett's ruined, Ziggler's time has passed, Rusev doesn't seem world title material, and the list goes on. So where do we go from here? Say, if Reigns wins the MITB, he most definitely won't win next year's Rumble. So who will win the Rumble? While many people hate the fact that part-timers are grabbing the spotlight, like Rock and Batista, it's very unlikely they'll win Rumble next year. So who will win? Ambrose is a primary contender. It can also be Wyatt for some reason. Which can be a good thing for him like it or not, because he'd be a fresh addition to the main event scene. The times where Cena and Orton win matches such as the Rumble are over. And while WWE is looking bad right now, they will very soon be FORCED to give the opportunity to new stars. It could be Neville, Owens, Zayn, Ambrose, or even a salvaged star like say, a repackaged Rhodes. And there will also be MITB next year. WWE won't only be giving Reigns and Ambrose opportunity. Sooner or later, new stars will really be born.
It's a good idea for WWE to push wrestlers, because there's a few young main eventers. The older guys won't be around for long, so with that, it's the right time for WWE to push new talents.
Honestly I think the company is in great shape building around all 5 of these under 30 talents. Pretty interesting that the top NXT guys are older than this group.
Problem with their main event scene is that there is no drama, spectacle, or bigger picture around anybody wrestling. I don't really know if that's an indictment on the talent (or lack thereof) or if it's just the creative aspect of things. Make no mistake, the Authority has destroyed the main event scene for over a year now, it's hard for anyone to get over with that bullshit looming over everything.
The storyline/feud/match aspect of the main event scene is so fucking lifeless and it's been that way for a long time. I can't buy any of these guys as rivals, nor can I really get behind anyone, Ambrose included. Because at the end of the day, the Authority angle is all that matters.
You can put as many different and more talented guys as you want in the main event, it's not a talent issue when everything regresses back to "Who is the face of the company!" and Kane, Show, Steph, HHH being the ones put over.
It's not a credibility issue. While yes, jobbing EVERYONE to EVERYONE in the undercard definitely hurts. But stop and look at Reigns, who was booked super strong from day one. Is he any more credible in the main event scene? Does he make the main event scene credible? No, he doesn't. Because nobody believes in his booking. And it's hard to have chemistry with anyone when you're booked twice as strong as them.
Fixing the main event scene is not as simple as "new talent". It's as simple as getting HHH away from TV.
