Is Kevin Owens only impressive because he is fat?

Legitimate question. Now I know he's good on promos, I'm not talking about that. He definitely has charisma as well. I actually think he's a pretty well rounded performer. I'm a fan. I like the guy and all... But as far as his in ring ability, is he only impressive because he's fat and can still do all the athletic things he can do? I don't know if he was normal size he would be as impressive because alot of fit people can do what he does, yet few people can do it at his size. As much as people harp on his weight, that's a big part of his appeal. If he were normal sized would he just be another guy? Or at the very least overlooked?

Not just tryna make another "Owens is fat" thread just for the sake of it. This probably has a risk of being closed just for that alone but its a legitmate question and I would like to see people's opinion on this. I do believe him being fat coupled with his wrestling ability/athleticism is what makes him special and sets him apart from the pack. Lets not forget when Wyatt debut people were really impressed by his speed for his size. If not for him being a larger man this wouldn't really be impressive at all, it'd be expected. I think the same goes for Owens, if not for his weight I don't think he'd be nearly as impressive in the ring. Is this true like I suspect it is?

Look at it this way, you have a fat guy in your neighbourhood being able to do 20 push ups. 20 push ups aren't impressive at all when an athletic guy or a skinny guy does it but it's impressive as hell when a fat guy does it.

The question is a little bit weird, that sounds like "Everybody is impressed when the one-legged man Zach Gowen or the big man Vader do a moonsault but if they were like Shawn Michaels that wouldn't be impressive at all" or "Everybody is impressed by a poor guy from the streets becoming a millionaire but would it be impressive if his parents were rich?"
A big guy who moves around the ring like he is built like Edge is impressive and you answered your own question

I guess it does in a way cause he's so impressive with his agility and what do we say, for a guy his size, Shawn Waltman does it and it's expected.

But I think it's a case of he's a monster that can do this too kinda thing, imagine what he'd be like smaller, so yes it does I guess, in a good way though, it's impressive to see these people and with that they're believable too cause it's like wooah.

Think of Vader and Bam Bam for example.

His in ring work is more impressive because of his agility absolutely , but he already was a strong worker if he removed those aspects of his in ring. His promos are already top notch and can hold his own with the best of them so while his body type makes him more impressive, he's already pretty damn good overall regardless if he was skinny or fat

Kind of a stupid topic.

If a guy like Kurt Angle does a moonsault, it's a bigger deal to most people then somebody like Rey Mysterio Jr. doing it. Obviously cause he's a bigger guy doing it.

Meanwhile if Rey Mysterio was to press slam Ultimo Dragon, it would obviously be a bigger deal then if Scott Steiner did it to Ultimo.

This line of thinking can be applied 100x over to a good majority of wrestlers so I don't really see the big deal.

Agreed. Yes he is impressive because of his agility for his size. Same goes for any other wrestler that ever existed. Big guys with the agility of smaller guys will always be more impressive then a small guy with agility. It's just so much harder for a bigger guy to be athletic then a smaller guy. They have to move a lot more weight and they can hurt themselves or the opponent.

Part of the package, yes.

It's the same reason eyes were drawn to the likes of Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow. You look at them and you're like okay. But you see them in the wrestling world and they are astonishing athletes. They have a unique charisma about them and will draw you in with the way they are in the ring for their size.

The fact he gets wrestling and knows what it takes to be a star, presents himself like a star and can kill it on the mic with the best of them make him a damn near complete package, especially to be a top heel. It shows how good he is when all he did was show up on Raw for 10 minutes and have numerous threads made upon him.

Well let's put it this OP:

What's more special? A 12 year old performing a technically demanding guitar piece or a 32 year old?

Of course there's some 140lbs indy guys that can do everything Owens can do move-wise, but they don't have that high Impact and Wow-Factor. At his size, whether shredded to the bone of fat is impressive when you can do the stuff he does. It's much harder doing the moves he does at his size than when you're small so the wow-factor is warranted.
