Harper is arguably one of the best talents on the main roster that WWE has right now. He is great in-ring, has a unique look and a gimmick that can be done with so much more then they have done so far.
When Harper was "set free" by Bray Wyatt late last year i expected good things to happen for him. Not soon after he won the IC title, but instead of a lenghty reign he got some crappy transitional reign that noone will remember 5 years from now. He even got neglected to Superstars! for a short while untill his involvement once again in the IC title scene this past Wrestlemania. After that we got the feud with Ambrose that only lasted one PPV and once again came out on the losing side of a feud.
So what's next for Harper? Will he only be used for mid card feuds with no payoff in the end or will he eventually get some sort of push again, because let's be real he is just way too good to be wasted with small midcard feuds. Hell, this should be the next monster type big men, but it seems WWE doesn't see it that way and that's a damn shame.
Did they lose every match? If Kane and undertaker had come up in this era and lost as much as harper and rowan do they would never come close to having the careers they did.
It may be fake, but wins do matter, especially in an era where heels can't attack the faces and leave them bloody.
He's the most talented big man they have (outside of Lesnar). Easy to assume that he will get a big push as some point down the road, just too good not to...
Absolute worst case scenario is he always has a job and can reunite, along with Rowan, at anytime with Wyatt to form the dominant faction in WWE.
Maybe a spot at the money in the bank ladder match but don't imagine that he will win. I don't see big feud for Harper and that a shame cause he is so talented and do things for his size that is not usual and all of that for our pleasure. A U.S. Open challenge that he wil lost, series of matches vs Reigns that he will lost... Unfortunately for that very good talent, I don't see anything good soon for him.
He should have never left the Family but honestly, he and Wyatt should be the new Kane and Taker, not gimmick wise but pretty much playing these roles. Harper would make an excellent Kane type guy, Wyatt would be great as a Taker type and put him on a limited schedule so his appearances and promos are worth something. Atm WWE overexposes their talent to the point nobody fucking cares.
If WWE needs jobbers they really need to bring in local guys or give jobbers like Rose, Fandango and Ryder more screen time.
They could have kept them more relevant, if they made them a long-term tag with Rowan instead of leaving them directionless as singles. Make them a dominating force with winning in the ring and making random beat-downs on people backstage. But nah they decided to ignore the safe, good and right decisions in order to split them and leave them directionless. They should have been tagging in the same way Cesaro is doing, until he can move forward on his own and have a certain direction to follow.
They have to tweak him some. Get rid of things like the sweaty shirt. Stuff like that just speaks low card material in the E.
His character and mic work, when he gets it, needs new life as well. His image is too much like Bray's. Made worse by Bray struggling himself these days. It's too easy for fans to just accept Luke as a follower version of an act that talks big but accomplishes little.
I have always wanted to see him get an American Badass 2.0 sorta gimmick, he sure has the right look for it , but I guess with he product being PG then it would be pretty watered down if they were to give him such a gimmick.
I really hope they start pushing him soon, such a waste of talent otherwise.
Dude is crazy good, one of the most talented big man in recent memory (I said one of because there's Brock freaking Lesnar). I wish they build him as an unstoppable monster who want to hurt people and hurt them bad. They were booking him right in his feud with Ambrose and if they let him destroy a few more jobbers (by jobbers I mean actual jobbers like Adam Rose and R-Truth) then build Ambrose as a courageous challenger who doesn't fear pain, Ambrose could have been elevated way more and Harper losing wouldn't hurt him that much because he's still a monster. Yet they barely give that Haprer Vs Ambrose feud any time and make him lose to Ryback and Neville right afterward.
This is and had always been his look for many years. The best thing for him now is a reunion of the Wyatt Family and he and Rowan finally winning the tag titles as they already, rightfully, should have done,
Week in and week out Luke Harper puts on above-average performances. He is one of the best young workers in the company. His sit out powerbomb is one of the most devastating moves at the moment (doesn't hurt with guys like Ziggler selling it). I enjoy his huge lariats/clothesline (sp).
I'm just not too sure if it's just me marking out for the guy. Do you guys think he's great? Maybe I just love his move-set. He also is quietly ver athletic)not quite Undertaker, but he can fly).
Anyway...that's my 8,000 cents. What do you guys think?
He's great, and even at 35 he still has time to become an important part of the company next 5 years if he stays injury free. But I wouldn't call him young. Fresher might be a better description. Or younger than the dinosaurs still putting up a show.
Cena said himself on Twitter that Harper is the most under-used superstar on the roster with immense talent. Harper is a very versatile wrestler, he is so big yet so mobile.
I like the feud with Ambrose, that will probably end at Payback when Ambrose wins. He should be pushed 100%.
When I look at Harper I see a guy who could be something like the Undertaker. Needs a new face gimmick if you ask me, rather than drifting back to the Wyatt family.
if they didn't completely botch the Wyatt breakup (pointless and no main reasoning behind it), they could have done a big build to a great Harper/Wyatt feud. Instead they just let Harper and Rowan drift aimlessly into mid-card purgatory (as well as Bray).
Also...I think they're gonna have the Wyatt family come together for a face turn for one of them. Most likely Harper. Bray will probably put him over before he goes over Taker next year(WM{all guesses}).
Harper is great, but such is the state of WWE that he will continue to trade wins and losses in unimportant matches with others in the midcard. He won't be involved in anything of consequence for a long time.
Harper is one of the best talents they have. It annoys me no end seeing him wasted. I would be VERY surprised to see him pushed properly, and fully expect him to be misused until his premature release from the company.
Harper should be given room to grow on the mic, or given a manager and given a slow burn push to the main event. He's big, athletic and has a great look. A DAMN SHAME!
On the plus side he has nowhere to go but up after losing to Ambrose, Ziggler and that guy that enjoys doing cartwheels.
