Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston - Package them individually?

Ok, I'm not going to get into a deep conversation about the New Day gimmick as such because it's been done time and time again about it being stereotypical and all things like that but the New Day gimmick doesn't seem to 'really' be taking off regardless of the reason, sure they've gained a bit of that go away heat, which is at least a reaction but when push comes to shove, this New Day gimmick doesn't seem to be meeting it's expectations so the life expectancy on this is debatable.

So, with all the conversations that have been going on round here about them and the gimmick, I thought it would be interesting to see what you guys thought about them as individual talents and how YOU would package them, gimmick wise, image wise etc.. if you were Vince McMahon, what would you be doing with them baring in mind that you HAVE to give them a push (dropping them from the roster is not optional), so what are your thoughts?

What would you do with these guys individually to make them have a great impact on the roster and have some great success?

It's just weird that this group with even 50% of the same booking as The Shield in terms of what goes on in the matches themselves could actually go over.

They've got a similar dynamic as The Shield did.

The main difference though is that they're not either HHH or Vince's chosen ones.

All they need is better booked matches against the upper card. That's it. Good matches against other top tier talent (where they go over once in a while and have a few PPV wins against upper card talent) is really all that is needed to put any kind of shit as fuck team over and that's really how simple it is.

In the end, it's never really about gimmicks, but what results that gimmick is booked into.

Wyatt is a perfect example of this. Great gimmick, great character, shit as fuck booking that nullified everything.

I know what you're saying about the gimmicks thing but I think to a degree it is, look at the shit they've had over this whole New Day gimmick that's been given out there, before they even had their debut and they were showing the vignettes, people were already saying this about them so I think to a degree the gimmick does matter, but I do get where you're coming from about the booking also.

They don't actually need to be broken up and start as individuals again. All the New Day
needs to do is go Heel and revert back to this:

If they were to be repackaged individually (which I hope they're not):

I can see Kofi going back to the whole high flying-Jamaican character. He could be a solid intercontinental title threat with a few wins. He definitely has the style, the look and the moveset, so I don't see why not.

Big E goes back to the 'enforcer' gimmick. Have him as a bodyguard (like the Ziggler/AJ/Big E stable). I can't see him with a title, but as a new authority figure maybe?

Xavier Woods can fit well in the Matt Striker gimmick, minus being a 'teacher'. Have him as an intelligent individual who gets in the minds of his opponents.

Other than having them as individual wrestlers, I think the whole "business suit" character for them as a stable is a great idea.

i don't think they need to break up actually. Right now they already have some heat and if they turn heel now then beat the living hell out of a fan favorite, they'd be a legit heel stable with actual heat. Portray them as a perfect team in every area, Woods as the brain, Kofi as the speed and Big E as the muscle (and they can actually legit back it up). The whole clapping with "New Day sucks" chant will also be over with the fans. It's actually good that they're getting heat this way, it works better than debuting them then have them squash jobbers.

Xavier - Malcolm X-like mouthpiece who manages

Big E - The strong silent type who bulldozes anyone in his way (maybe wear some sunglasses or something LOL)

Kofi - Cocky, athletic centerpiece of the stable

And they all dress like this

Gotta disagree with AG on this one, I think New Day should be kept together, something is definitely there. Even if it's X-pac heat, I think it can be channeled properly. The big thing is, these guy's weren't ever really getting over despite Kingston and Big E actually getting decent pushes. If they split them up, we'll go back to seeing Kingston and Big E losing to upper midcarders and beating low midcarders or guy's who are on losing streaks prior to character transitions.

I'm fine with New Day losing for a few more weeks, but they eventually gotta start racking up consecutive wins, but the whole idea of these squeaky clean baby faces learning to cheat by being so fed up with losing... IMO it's a cool concept. Like the way they had Xavier Woods kind of approving Kofi Kingston kicking that one "Lucha Dragon" dude or whatever his name was, that's something they can build off of.

Nah, I get where you're coming from on this, specially after reading some of the responses in the thread, I don't actually feel they should be broken up but the image they had before hand, probably would have worked better, it would have definitely eliminated the whole stereotypical criticism they've been up against recently with the gimmick, though now they have this, along with the heat they've got, if they are clever enough they could turn it round, the only thing is, it will have to be done right and not too apparent to the point it makes the gimmick fail, maybe a change in attitude would do it, or being a bit more heel could also work in their favour, to be fair, even before they had this gimmick they seemed kind of heel and I thought that worked and was quite exciting, I was never opposed to this gimmick as much as some people were ... but I can see how it could have been better in other ways than coming out and clapping and being all how they are at the moment, I wasn't too keen on Big E when he started doing the preacher thing before he got into the whole New Day stable too, I actually thought he was better as a heel or a straight up babyface did work for him too, he actually could be a pretty decent face if pushed properly and given the right booking and support :)

Kofi, I've always felt will play a great heel, if the frustrated kind but I know a lot of people have disagreed with me on that as he's been a face for so long, you can't see anything different but I've been able to see this in him for a long time, Xavier also could probably work better as a heel than a face, but I think he has the talent to do both, a little bit like R-Truth really who I feel was very good at adapting to the roles he was given :)

I'd just turn them heel.

Especially Kofi. He needs something bad and heel may be the best thing for him. Plus, it could provide interesting matches on the mid card, especially Kofi/Cena, which I been wanting to see for a long time. As a collective, he should stand out.

Nothing against Big E & Xavier, the muscle & the mouthpiece, but with those traits, they can really make Kofi so much better by being his hypeman and his brute.

They can be NoD 2.0 but why not evolve them? Why not make Xavier a speaker like Heyman is, how great would it be for Woods to call out HHH and ask why Big E or Kofi doesn't get a Championship match? HHH responds and Woods simply says it's because the WWE doesn't want a black Champion, play up on all this stuff. People hate Jesse Jackson and Sharpton types, why not make them a heel group that will go as low as it can to get what they want? Make them smart, ruthless and cunning with their words and actions. We all would know it's simply just a ploy, why not use these tactics?
