I hardly even need to post, you hit the nail right on the head.
Does it piss me off that WWE could have made the HoF truly special and make it representative of the true all time greats in our business? Hell yeah. Does it make me mad WWE inducts guys like Koko B Ware and Rikishi while guys like Vader, Stan Hansen, Finlay, the Midnight Express, and the Rock n Roll Express, guys who were legitimately among the best of all time at what they did and deserve to have their name in the HoF? Of course. But you know what? Never, in a million, billion, gazillion years would I ever choose to voice my displeasure at a HoF induction ceremony through asinine chants. You're a Class A shit head if you do that and you should be banned from all future WWE events for pulling a BS stunt like that.
You're right, regardless of the impact or careers of the guys being inducted, they still gave their life to wrestling and wrecked their bodies for fans entertainment. They deserve our respect and admiration, even if we don't believe their careers were HoF worthy. You know why? Because none of us have taken so much as a single bump in a wrestling ring, we can't do what they did, and they did it well enough to earn at the very least a respectable fan following. Shut your trap, listen to the speeches, and give a warm, heartfelt applause at the conclusion. That's all you really need to do.
I disagree though that fans should not be allowed in. They CAN help make the experience a lot better, and it gives fans the opportunity to express their gratitude for the people being inducted. What the WWE SHOULD do is have anyone who wants to buy a ticket to the HoF presentation be required to sign a waiver that says "If I chant anything derogatory or do anything to interrupt or negatively impact the show, I will be banned for life from all future WWE events. I will only cheer, clap, or chant only positive things" and then strictly enforce it with extra security for the first few years, fans will get the hint the HoF is not the time to be a callous ass hat and learn to act like civilized, decent people.
I really hate shit like this because it makes all wrestling fans look bad. Wrestling fans are capable of doing some truly awesome things, like chanting "YOU DESERVE IT!" At Bryan during the Raw after WM 30 last year, or giving JR a prolonged, 5+ minute standing ovation when his HoF induction was announced, or even chanting "Thank you Taker!" after the Streak ended last year. It sucks that a small segment of the fan base are such air headed fuck sticks who think they are entitled to chant stupid shit and get themselves over at the expense of the show. There is a line, and if you are a decent human being you shouldn't need to be told where it is. Chanting "Daniel Bryan" throughout the entire slammy presentation whil WWE was trying to bury Bryan is okay, chanting "WE ARE AWESOME" or chanting "CM Punk" at wrestlers after Punk walked out or chanting negative stuff to wrestlers being inducted into the HoF is definitely not fucking okay and it's embarassing that people need to be told this. As fans we can definitely be part of the show, but we should NEVER be the MAIN part of the show. The wrestlers are the focus of the show, we are there to enhance the experience not to detract from it.
Ugh.
