Is Bray Wyatt's Gimmick Ruined?

I think everyone has an opinion on this one, and I, just like the rest, have an opinion about it. As a huge, and I do mean HUGE Bray Wyatt fan, I was very upset at the booking of his match for WM31.

My question is this: Do you think his loss has ruined his gimmick? Typically I would say NO, but this isn't a normal circumstance. We aren't talking about someone like Edge or Big Show, etc, who have what I consider to be "normal" or "average" gimmicks. We are talking about a man that portrays himself to be the new leader of evil, the most feared man in the world, etc etc. Yet, in his Mania debut last year he got beat by Cena and then went through a few PPV's where he lost consecutively before finally (and I do mean FINALLY) scoring a victory over Ambrose.

He practically carried the Taker feud with all of his promos, and has shown that he's a great worker and the crowd obviously love the guy. So why would WWE let a 50 year old man that can barely walk half the time beat a 27 year old guy whose future hangs in the balance? It makes no sense. The "Taker can't lose twice at Mania" argument holds no water because the streak is dead. There's nothing to defend any longer. If anything, it should have made it easier to beat Taker. I'm a huge Taker fan but I am just calling it like I see it, and personally, I think Bray's future is now in major jeopardy with his current character after yet another loss at a PPV, this one being the BIG ONE. It took forever to build him up, and now, they are just putting him back down.

What do you guys think?

I think Bray should have won the match in 8 seconds flat, completely destroying Taker.

Probably Bray would slap you for saying that, fans this days have no fucking respect for the Undertaker.

As they shouldn't, he hasn't earned it. He took a dump on the face of the best talent on the roster and said "fuck you, I don't have to do SHIT but show up and pin you after you carry the entire program". Disrespect begets disrespect. Undertaker is a selfish, arrogant, broken down old has been who can't give it up, who doesn't give one shit about the next generation of stars and helping the company that made him thrive. It's always all about him.

As for Bray Wyatt, it's obvious they've either given up on him, or were never really high on him to begin with and are just doing the same thing they did with Rusev. He's run his course with them, even though you could get many, many high quality, productive years of him as a major main eventer, but that's not what they want.

I honestly don't see this as Taker being selfish. The way I looked at it was that it was Vince's decision so Taker can be a bigger draw for his retirement match at wrestlemania 32. Its business first.

In reality creating a big star for the next 10 years beats one match at wrestlemania....but not in WWE's shortsighted view.

To answer the question of this thread: If Bray doesn't get a big win soon, the fans can easily stop caring, similar to Ryback's situation.

I'm in your position OP. Huge Wyatt fan here and I'm extremely disappointed in the events of Wrestlemania.

Most of my concern is with the injury he suffered which prevented him from being able to carry the match. I didn't think the actual loss was as bad as the performance was. I think that it is bery disappointing and inconvenient that Wyatt got injured before the biggest match of his life and for that reason k am worried about his future.

I'm a big Wyatt fan, but i don't see how his gimmick can survive. A cult leader/possessed who jobs to half the roster? It doesn't make any sense. Imagine if ministry era Taker got beaten up by big boss man when he tried to hang him etc. I love undertaker, i have since i was 8 years old, but its time to move on.

If I were hellbent on doing Bray vs Taker with a clean finish at Mania, I put Bray over there and have Taker appear Monday to tell the fans he evidently has nothing left in the tank after two consecutive losses at what used to be his place of reckoning. He'd be interrupted by Sting making an appearance from the rafters/stands with the bat pointed directly at him. Before he's permitted to retire, he has one final match next year. Obviously put Taker over there and both icons ride off into the sunset, capping off their careers in front of 100,000 in Dallas with the match millions of fans have clamored for and begged to witness for over a decade.

You turn the loss into a positive and since both men are around the same age and fell at Mania, neither necessarily looks better than the other. Everyone wins. Don't know why they did Bray vs Taker in the first place. If your promising 28 year old doesn't go over your 50 year old who is on his way out the door in two calendar years or less, it better be a damn good reason as to why he didn't.

Sorry but this is fucking redonkulous, why would sting need to put him over? He needs to be put over CLEAN in a long feud by a member of the CURRENT ROSTER. When will people realise that?

#44 ·
He needs to mercilessly f*ck with somebody until they legitimately follow him for the next couple of years, only way his backwoods cult leader shtick can recover now. He needs to do everything he says he will in his next feud.

Re-unite the family, have him go after Kane again and actually convert him this time. Maybe even work an Undertaker angle in to it, he's going after his family as revenge.

Fast forward a couple of months...

No more corporate Kane, but a new Kane. Good for everybody

Harper & Rowan have a purpose again. Good

Wyatt looks like he actually does what he says, and has 3 monster heels behind him. Great.

It was obvious he was gonna lose but he should have destroyed taker after match. He won't be on TV for a few weeks through injury so id have some masked guys come out during Raw next week and interupt The Ascension during a match destroy them and kidnap them. Then the following week The Ascension come out and do the sane to Bo Dallas. Then at Extreme Rules when the Authority is doing all they can go help Rollins put away Orton the lights go out, Dep!! Lights back on, everyone is down but Kane is missing. Following night on Raw Kane with mask takes out Big Slow, Dallas attacks Cena and The Ascension attack Kidd/Cesaro with no explanation. Maybe similar on Smackdown (maybe Harper attacks Bryan in his match). Next Raw it's The Ascension, Kane, Dallas vs Cena, Cesaro, Kidd and Slow in the main event. As Cena team is about to win via 5 moves of doom the lights are off, Dep. Everyone's down at ringside including J & J and Rollins who accompanied Show. Lights off and on again Wyatt appears in the ring flanked by his family, using the Ascensions illuminati/devil worship gimmick he talks about how he has brought his family together to tear the Authority down and take all the gold and theres no one to stop him and his family. Bryans music hits and he says whilst he hates the Authority Wyatt will never take his belt, as he says this on the stage Luke Harper attacks and throws him off the stage and through a table. He grabs the intercontinental belt and brings it to Wyatt. Wyatt falls to his knees with his family stood behind holding ALL the belts. Lights off, Dep, lights on, All gone End show. This way you have the Wyatt Family as tweeners/heel faction, Wyatt vs Rollins(fresh), dark Bo Dallas gets a push for US title, Harper for intercontinental and The Ascension for tag team push in their original gimmick from nxt(should never have changed). This way Wyatt gets his deserved push, to do some awesome promos and you get a decent stable apart from the Authority, Kane can have a final run as a monster who protects and is controlled by Wyatt plus he's feuding with Big Slow so no up and comers are destroyed by him and in my opinion the most beneficial part of all this there is some actual direction for talent like Harper, Dallas and The Ascension and those that they feud with. That's what I'd do but hey that's just me.

Obviously I'm not expecting that but I do hope Wyatt gets Taker and wins at Summerslam in a buried alive or casket match.

The problem (imo) is that Bray Wyatt's character just isn't very intimidating. He's just a fat guy with a Duck Dynasty beard wearing a Hawaiian shirt and white pants. How is that the "new face of fear"? Forget losing to Undertaker, a character like that should lose to just about everyone on the roster.

He needs new attire, and a new ring style. There simply is nothing interesting about him beyond his rambling mic work and one move that isn't even a high impact wrestling move (the spider walk). That's really it.

They could have propelled Bray to the sky and it's a fact that nobody deserves it more than him. This should have been the passing of the torch for Bray and establish him as the new fearsome character. Could have also made a lot of drama over Taker losing his second match in a row at Mania and speculate on he's gonna come out to retire and then you just bring Sting in the equitation. I'd rather see a match between them after both lost at Mania but nah Taker had to get another pointless win for the benefit of nobody.

It's not like the entire feud got carried the shit out of Bray and Taker didn't even show his face. Also people expected something different from Taker in his entrance at Mania but we saw a fucking generic bunch of nothing. Guess after losing at Mania and making such a big fuss about everything.. well he doesn't really give a shit anymore and they didn't bother making anything out of it? Such a grand company.

People like Bray and Ambrose are simply too talented for such a retarded company.

Wyatt is salvageable. For the next few weeks he should stay away from the mic, I'm sick of his rambling at this stage. For the foreseeable future he should 'show' the roster that he is the new face of fear. It should be chaos, in random matches the lights should go out and once Wyatts music hits somebody is going to be made an example of. Even the authority should be scared of him. Make us want to see what he has to say. Reuniting the Wyatt family would be a nice touch. As many have said adding Kane could be cool

Bray is Ruined, there's no doubt about it. All he's gonna be known for was the guy with the creepy gimmick that gets beaten by Main Eventers. Basically what Kane used to be

The problem isn't losing the match, the whole Bray Wyatt gimmick is great in promo's but in everything else it just doesn't work as a singles wrestler.

When the Wyatt family was together it was ok especially vs the shield but every singles feud he has been in has been flat especially in the ring except the Bryan match where he put over like a star.

They need to do something with his gimmick, i would keep his wrestlemania attire full time for starters.

I honestly think he will do well to recover this time round but only time will tell. They did well building him up after the Rumle etc but they can't keep having him defeated in EVERY feud (apart from Ambrose) and still be OK after it.

His gimmick means he NEEDS to be dominant and he is far from that at the moment. He has the look, the mic skills, easily good enough in the ring, charisma, intensity, the gimmick. What more do they want?

They have got a f*cking gem in Bray Wyatt and they better realise that before they ruin this guy forever. He is too good to waste away and become a non entity.

Compare The Shield and how they have been handled to The Wyatts and it is nothing short of disgraceful. Two amazing stables yet WWE only seem to care about one of them. Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper are two of the best in the company right now and should be treated as such.

WWE have fucked up with Bray Wyatt oh my god. He was so hot before John Cena buried him last year and now when he could have redeemed himself Undertaker has to be glory hog and didn't mput him over WTF. Bray's epic on the mic he should be top heel but Vince is to senile to see it.

Bray vs. Brock for wrestlemania 32. Book it Vince :vince
