John Cena: WWE messed up only pushing me.

I just stumbled across this.

Around the 10 minute mark he starts talking about the split reaction he always gets. He says that he thinks WWE dropped the ball for years because they were focusing on only pushing one guy (him) and thus it meant people weren't interested in other superstars but only him.

He then hilariously says that he thinks WWE is on the brink of an all star line up because there are young guys about to break through which are really making noise or about to make noise.

Yeah John, those guys like oh I don't know... Wyatt and Rusev? The two guys you have fucking buried at the last two Mania's?

Quite funny though that even Cena knows WWE fuck up only pushing one guy as a face.... Then they do the same again with Reigns it seems.

He also says that the locker room is scared for their employment so don't take risks.

What a fucking joke... yes they fucked up Cena. But so did you. You could have played hard ball with Vince and demanded to put guys over. You didn't. Rusev, Wyatt, and now Ambrose are just the most recent examples.

Cena's right about that and the All-Star lineup. He's on his way out, so I'm not too worried about them getting buried. I'm not sure why ANYONE is surprised about Rusev since we all knew he had a 1 year shelf life with that awful gimmick, but Wyatt losing to him at Mania was inexcusable and ultimately lead to nothing.

I've come to respect Cena in a lot of ways. I still can never like him for being on top so long and being a huge reason behind the product sucking for a long time.

The Cena era is the dark ages for WWE/WWF. They've been slowly moving out of it, but it's been take 1 step forward but then 1 step back.

Cena has the dedication, work ethic, personality that is perfect for the business and deserves to be commended for being at so many shows and doing so much for kids, etc. But you can't deny his character and the push it got hurt the business. I don't mind Cena winning a lot now, as long as he isn't in the main event picture all the time.

This reminds me of those guys who rat on someone to get less jail time and they always say, "I knew what we were doing was wrong but I needed the money but now that i think about it, I shouldn't have done it." Well it's too fucking late.
Now I don't put all blame on John Cena for the whole WWE booking. He can't control that, but what he COULD control is his character's development which basically has been none existence IN YEARS. I don't count stuff like with Wyatt last year because that was just feeding off Wyatt's character traits.

Fans were demanding him to turn heel and he admitted he didn't want to do it. So, I'm going to have to agree with these two quotes above. He is saying this now after seeing the writing on the wall when fans booed him out of the stadium for winning back the title from The Rock and now carrying around the US Title.

It's the same way HHH started to NOT book himself in the main event title matches after that abysmal title win against Orton at WM 25.

It's the same as Nash and all the other politicians in WCW who say they could or should have when they didn't.

I'm saying this and I like Cena. I also agree with something Austin said before and that was Cena needs to know when to just tell creative no with the dumb crap which actually hurt him too.

If he didn't have the clout of a 10 year main eventer, there might be a point. But he has the ability to pull the reigns on Vince at least a little and he doesn't. He is happy to let the booking stand because he really doesn't give a shit about building anyone else.

Does Cena need a reminder that he beat Wyatt at Wrestlemania, lost at Extreme Rules due to two other men and a fucking demon child, and then won at Payback in a last man standing by LITERALLY burying Wyatt under a giant box which he stood on top of.

Cena you ass, you know you could have changed the finish to the Payback match at the very least to let Wyatt look someone strong.

Nope, instead you basically killed all his momentum.

At 21 minutes, Austin tells Cena his STF looks like shit :lol

Cena should embrace fans telling him he sucks. Kurt Angle did, and he ended up over as fuck.

I respect Cena's dedication to the business and what he does for sick kids but as far as actual wrestling goes Johnny Boy has enough clout to say you know what I'm 37 38 years old, my time is coming to an end but we got Wyatt and/or Rusev here. They're the future, I'm going to put them over on the biggest stage of them all. Johnny Boy didn't do that so he's no better than the people who constantly ram him down our throats.

I don't see how Cena can be held accountable for what clearly is a long standing talent issue which is only now starting to slowly be resolved. Their developmental/recruitment output simply hasn't been good enough, the fact is the likes of Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Jack Swagger, Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler and even to an extent Daniel Bryan have either held the major belts or been part of major event programmes tells you that. None of the aforementioned talents would have been anywhere near the main event in previous successful eras and when they have also given major titles to traditional mid card talents like Mark Henry and Christian it tells you that there is something wrong with the talent pool. People can blame Cena all they want, they can ignore the fact that it's not the job of the face of the company to put people over but they are only deluding themselves if they think the aforementioned wrestlers are genuine main event attractions.

I actually agree with this, although I think in years time we will find out the backstage politics of Cena.

The roster isnt good enough. Everyone has set their hopes on the ex shield members but you know what? Reigns isnt the only one who needs shitting on. Rollins has very little charisma and a very whiny voice. Dean Ambrose isn't all that great in the ring.

The roster may have a lot of depth but how many of these are household names? I bet a lot of the guys who watched WM 31 after a long pause to see Sting thought "who's that black haired guy with the blonde streak in his hair?".

Cena was still young, why should he be putting everyone else over just to satisfy the egos of a vocal minority?

I bet half of you shitting on Cena for 'not putting guys over' are the same people that cringed when they started using the old man tag on Cena in his build to WM31.

Enough with the Cena-hate. It isn't 2008 anymore.

How often do you guys expect the top face in the company to lose cleanly? If he puts everyone over he puts nobody over. I don't love the way that Cena is booked or anything but when someone pins him cleanly it's a pretty big deal. Punk ended up with a year plus long title reign after he went over Cena in matches that they had together and Bryan main evented Wrestlemania and left with the title after he went over Cena.

He also goes over people but let's them look super competitive with him. Nobody should be complaining about what happened with Ambrose last night. He was in the ring with Cena for a long time and was able to hang. He didn't cheat and he came really close to beating him. A similar thing happened with Ceasro a while back where they had a great match on TV that Cena ultimately won. The problem with Ceasro and the potential issue with Ambrose is what WWE does next.

Yeah there are instances where Cena goes over and makes his opponent look bad. Like his feud with the Wyatt family. Him winning 2 out of 3 matches wasn't the problem. It's that at Wrestlemania he beat the entire Wyatt family and then at Extreme rules he was ready to beat them all at once again and only lost because of some creepy kid.

I also feel like some people have unfair expectations of Cena. They want him to be superhuman. He's booked super strong and at the top of the card and you guys expect him to go to Vince and tell Vince that he's winning too much? What top guy in the history of wrestling would ever go and do something like that? The only one I can think of is Bret Hart because he had matches with lower card guys where he made them look amazing. His match with the 1-2-3 Kid comes to mind. But even so, Bret won that match. And if Cena were to go and have a similar match now I feel like people would complain about how he buried the 1-2-3 Kid. Also I guess it's possible that Bret would have tried to get Vince to let him drop the belt to Owen for a while but that's a totally different scenario unless Cena has some close relative on the roster.

Well Bryan is his potential future brother in law so there's that. :p

It really sickens me the excuses ppl use to Justify Cena's burial of young talent the past few years. The truth is a young talent being in a feud with Cena is the worst thing that can happen to them as they are always booked like shit while Cena laughs everything off yet he is always the underdog.

Cena's booking has damaged the product beyond repair and even worse is Reigns is going to be the next Cena 2.0. Vince is to stubborn in his ways now to ever change course. And the sad thing is there are so many talented young guys on the roster that could reach great heights but it's never going to happen as long as Vince has his hard on for Cena.

Cena deserves just as much blame for the lack of new upcoming stars as Vince and the creative team are. I don't care what anyone says every top star in the business has a say in the direction of the character and storyline's and Cena if he cared to could fight Vince on putting over young guys. Truth is despite his goody 2 shoes on screen persona Cena is very selfish and only cares about himself which once again has damaged the product.

Now I can't fault the guy fully he is making loads of money while banging a bella but I just wish he finally decided enough is enough and it's time to make this more than just about him.

Since 2009/2010, he has put over Sheamus, Miz, Punk, Bryan in championship matches. He has given Barrett the spotlight only to have Barrett buried by CM Punk completely. Cena was still in his early thirties when this started.

You can bitch about his reign in 2006 to early 2009 but don't blame Cena for other guys not stepping up or be given opportunities in the past half decade (there were two belts back then too).
