Beginning of a Boom ?

WM 31 as we know was a fantastic show .. had everything you would want in a Mania. All over social media WWE has been getting rave reviews from the show they put on from fans & general on lookers alike. Actually getting healthy & lenghty coverage from ESPN. Celebrities that actually is "in" tweeting about the show. That has me thinking could last night be the night Wrestling rises from the ashes ?

I'll start off by saying that Vince did the right thing & had the right people retain / win the titles. Cesaro & Kidd are so crisp as a tag team and are looked at as a fresh breath. Daniel Bryan winning the IC title was a bone thrown to the IWC but also a chance for DB to carve out his own niche with the strap. Cena winning was for the non IWC members of their Universe. ( I'm a Cena hater & somewhat fan of Rusev )but it was time for the streak to end so we can get a fresh take on Rusev character. Putting the WHC on Seth was perfect he has owned this year since the turn on the Shield & its joy to watch as a fan as you see a guy that deserved it rewarded. That also is a positive sign for the lockeroom ( just maybe the Brass Ring can be obtained )

That leads me into my next point .. Seth as a future pillar of this company. Im calling him the HBK lite of this generation. He is young , can work , has a distinct look , mic skills improved , generates legit reaction whether it be boos or cheers & can be someone both the Internet & higher ups agree on. Then you have the rest of the roster ( which is the best talent wise since 2002). Ziggler , DB , Harper , Ambrose , Rusev , Bray , Reigns ( I wasnt a fan of his push but when he is pushed right he has legit potential which cannot be denied ) BNB , Cesaro. This is a wonderful cast to actually put a great product in the ring which will only be aided by these guys ...

The NXT 5. Imo the boom begins when all 5 of this guys are finally on the Main Roster. You have Owens the ultimate badass , Balor the quintessential star ( imagine the coverage if he brings out the demon at AT&T Stadium for WM32 with close to 100 k in the building) , Zayn the ultimate babyface/underdog that people love without being cheesy , Neville the guy who is a master in that ring who with Vine being popular can be a instant attention grabber for non fans & Itami as the international sensation who is legit within the ropes. There is something for everybody within that 5 reminiscent of the AE where you had Rock , Austin , Mankind, Taker , HHH leading the way. You group the NXT5 with the heavy hitters on the Main Roster then add into the fact all the talent who will be in NXT once they make the jump ( Crowe , Uhaa , Corbin , Joe ) ready to jump as well you have a loaded roster who just need the right buttons pushed ...

( Off Topic but as I'm on NXT. They will supplement the MR with quality Divas who can put on a show. Bayley , Charlotte , Banks , Lynch , Bliss , Emma. As long as Sara is the trainer the future of Divas are in good hands. )

My next point how should the company handle the promotion going forward ... First off RAW should be 2 hours beginning by 2016. You want your customers begging for more rather than wishing it would stop. 2 hours is easier to get through and leaves the door open for fresh matchups with the talented roster above. 2nd Once HHH starts to gain more control & if WWE gains popularity he can start to tell them that he will be easing up on scripted promos. Give them bullet points & let the guys who portray these characters come up with how to fill it in. Scripted promos come off as cringeworthy and doesnt help the product. If the popularity comes I think they start pushing the limits of TV PG or the jump back to TV 14. WWE resorted to PG because of the older fans from the AE started to flock away in droves so sensing you cant accommodate both they might as well market to the kids & soccer moms as they would be ones willing to purchase their type of product now. That leads into this .. those kids who were the focal point of TV PG are now starting to grow up and if stayed with the product will become rabid fans looking for something new which why I can see them push boundaries. The minority will soon become the majority. Once again as HHH gets more power I think he takes off the leash for what people can and cannot do in the ring. Just to fit the overall direction this company has taken with their indy feeling approach. If the in ring action is great from top to bottom people would be less incline to bitch and moan about stories ...

That transitions into my final point .. Embrace The Reality Era. WWE & Trips arent stupid they know over half their audience reads the dirt and have to deal with smart fans. A Smart fan will watch the issue tho the issue is getting the non fan to sit down and watch a fake / scripted show. If WWE gears their product to showcase what happens in the ring is the most important and the stuff outside the ring is not they can bring in new fans. Hopefully this partnership with WWE is the start of a long beautiful will be great because im telling you now the upcoming E:60 will be the perfect chance to show the "fake callers" what really goes on in this business and whats its really about.

I got this on a subsection of this website im on ( Shoutouts to Boxden ) but if the general public can start to get off the perception that wrestling is a fake sport and start to grasp this idea

"You are competing ask any wrestler in the back it IS a competition ... only thing is it's not about actually winning the championship but you're competing against the fans to cheer you by either your work in the ring or salesmanship on the mic. And from there you are leading yourself to a championship. I think the general public don't understand it's more about what happens between the bells than before and after. It's the beauty of pro wrestling .. fighting to be the guy that draws in the money for the company."

Add that general mindset with the loaded talent and in the words of JR "Business will indeed pick up "

Im sorry if its a bit long but im just so pumped off last night I wanted to get my views out into the Wrestling community.

P.S I just started to pick up my YWC channel check me out : KnickMet2

Nothing has changed.

Fundamentally this will be the PG Era as long as WWE's first priority is being politically correct and has the audience one would expect from a politically correct company. If the fans' mindset is the same as it was half a decade ago, just with less opposition to Cena, then nothing has changed.

The only thing that will change this is if they make it adult again, as well as fire Michael Cole.

Nope.

Lets not forget this was the worst build up to a Mania in history.

For me the best moment was dx vs the nwo :p

But I do get the feeling there is like a new kliq coming through. Before it was HBK, HHH, Nash, Hall, Xpac, Chyna. And like it or not they changed wrestling and were a huge part of the boom of wrestling. Hall and Nash probably did more to ignite the atittude era than anyone which was a huge boom peroid.

I think there is a new kliq...judging from both onscreen actions and offscreen rumours.

Seth Rollins has always been HHHs protected guy. He has apparently been given the chance to protect one dude and to push one dude and its rollins. he admits defeat on things like cena squashing Bray wyatt, but he will go to bat for rollins more than anyone else.

APPARENTLY, there is one other dude who is similar and thats Owens. HHH made both his champions really early in NXT. So I think we can expect Owens to join HHH's backstage kliq when he gets called up.

Before it was: Nash, Hall, HBK, HHH...
Now it is: HHH, Rollins, Owens, Orton

That is what it seems like anyway. I am happy if it turns out this way. I love Owens and Rollins. I am glad HHH is so into them too.

Great post and I agree 100% BUT I think Tyler Breeze should be included in that NXT5.

Except a great match

That leads me into my next point .. Seth as a future pillar of this company. Im calling him the HBK lite of this generation. He is young , can work , has a distinct look , mic skills improved , generates legit reaction whether it be boos or cheers & can be someone both the Internet & higher ups agree on.

The casual fan doesn't give a shit about Rollins. He gets tepid at best reactions. He's like Edge but without any charisma and is just annoying. He isn't a draw.

( Off Topic but as I'm on NXT. They will supplement the MR with quality Divas who can put on a show. Bayley , Charlotte , Banks , Lynch , Bliss , Emma. As long as Sara is the trainer the future of Divas are in good hands. )

Yep because people really give a shit about toilet break divas matches. No, THATS The thing that will create a boom. A bunch of weak wrestlers who cant even run the ropes convincingly.

My next point how should the company handle the promotion going forward ... First off RAW should be 2 hours beginning by 2016. You want your customers begging for more rather than wishing it would stop. 2 hours is easier to get through and leaves the door open for fresh matchups with the talented roster above.

Agreed but its all about the money

No, WWE is in SERIOUS trouble. WM31 was loaded up and padded by pensioners and over elaborate entrances. The roster has little star power. The number one draw is still Cena and he is despised. Daniel Bryan is now officially a mid carder. Everyone else is failing to step up.

Nah. Boom period doesn't happen just from a good Mania. There have been plenty good Manias since the last boom period has ended and none of them have been able to create another one. The closest they got was the period of success they had from 05-08 but even that was far from the boom period of the Golden Age and Attitude Era. The most that happens is they get a little bump in the ratings. That's about it And, I doubt the NXT 5 do much either. WWE hasn't been able to prove that they will book those guys properly. Tho, they might get booked good but I don't think they help start a boom period.

Let us start smaller OP :ti

How about two consecutive weeks of good quality programming and booking.

Lets try that first. I can't remember the last time they achieved it.

Also lets not forget that they could completely undo of all last nights goodwill by the end of Raw tonight.

They are more than capable of it.
