Re: Pushes where you were like "why are they pushing that guy"
The Miz without a doubt, a guy with the body and the face of a 15y old holding the biggest title in the biggest promotion in North America main eventing the biggest show of the year in a storyline about the return of one of the greatest pro wrestlers of the greatest era of all time
I don't know if i'd say he was championship material but I think Miz makes a good heel not just because he's a decent wrestler but he's easy to hate and makes you want to see him get his a** kicked (just like a good heel).
Reigns. People criticize the Ryback push, but in 2012 Ryback was more over than Reigns has ever been at any time in his career (and is likely to ever get.) What makes this worse is the fact Ryback is better than Reigns in everything except for "DA LOOK." And even then, Reigns doesn't have a great look as a pro wrestler, considering he looks like a shampoo model; Ryback looks like the big goon that leads the group of other goons that all get beaten up in a Kung Fu movie. Neither is a great look, but Ryback in a heartbeat over Reigns.

Oh, bullshit. Compare Reigns's weekly reactions from the time The Shield broke apart till the Rumble this year and you'll see that Reigns was every bit as over, if not more so, than Ryback was in 2012.
As for the thread, Mabel's push in 1995 is probably the worst offender. What an awful time to be a wrestling fan.
Reigns, easily. His push has been more damaging to the product than any other push I've ever heard of. WWE has basically butchered their entire roster in order to make that fuckhead look strong.
Great Khali, B00by Lashley, Roman Reigns, Ahmed Johnson, Rusev, MVP, Deuce n Domino, Eugene was getting way too much TV time in 2004 instead of the champ Benoit and Gene Snitsky
Undeserved? Miz was crazy over, great on the mic, good in the ring and he's a very dedicated guy. He deserved that push. I'd say guys like Seth and Ambrose Main Eventing and feuding with top guys from day one is undeserving.
I can't believe people are saying Reigns. People will always over-react to what they have to go through currently. How quickly we forget Del Rio, the man who was pushed to a total of 4 world championships, a 40 man Royal Rumble win, and won a MITB briefcase, all without getting ANY REACTION from the crowd one way or the other. Jesus people, stop over-reacting.
Billy Gunn in 1999 winning King of the Ring and then especially around Summerslam 1999
One of the all time great tag wrestlers no doubt but as a solo guy? Never saw a match better than average from him.
What was worse was that WWE could have had Jericho and The Rock at that Summerslam but went with Billy Gunn/Rock instead. Head scratching to say the least after Jericho debuts with awesome verbal exchange with "The Great One"
The Great Khali - I mean, I know why they pushed him (7+ foot size, marketing ploy to India) but he didn't deserve it because the guy is just god awful and boring in the ring
The Miz - Great heel but definitely not main event caliber. Just couldn't take him seriously as world champion. But, on the flip side, I at least give him credit for taking the ball and running with it, so maybe he's not so bad.
Roman Reigns - Happy to see he is improving and he's a work in progress, so take this choice with a grain of salt. It's just too much too soon for him.
Jeff Jarrett - When he won world titles in WCW and booked himself to do so in TNA, I just thought, hmmm. The guy is the definition of mediocre wrestler and absolutely nothing about him stands out. Double J gimmick is the icing on the cake too. I just always saw Jarrett as a parody of himself really.
I'm sure I could think of more but these came to the top of my head.
I was sure his gimmick would make him a certified jobber within 2 Weeks of his debut, but nah he went on a legitimate run. Even beating Jericho at Mania :lol
