OFFICIAL WWE STATEMENT ON REY MYSTERIO

By Mike Johnson on 2015-02-26 16:30:17

PWInsider.com contacted WWE regarding Rey Mysterio's status with the company as he was moved quietly to their Alumni section today.

WWE responded with the following statement:

"Rey Mysterio is no longer under contract with WWE."

So, Mysterio's long run with the company is officially over

Re: Rye Mysterio Moved To Alumni Section On WWE.COM

He and WWE have been on bad terms for half a decade now. Wonder what happens from here. Last thing I heard was he's joining El Patron down south. It's sad to see a wrestling legend like Rey being so mistreated and not even receiving a proper send off. Shame on WWE.

Rey Mysterio is a guy who I think a lot of us have mixed feelings on. On the one hand he was basically a John Cena in a mask, defeating guys twice his size and using absurd/spotty moveset (619). On the other hand when you pair him with someone of similar size he can perform some great matches. His matches with Angle and Tajiri were excellent. Basically everything pre WHC was tolerable atleast. He should have stayed in the cruiserweights and he should have got rid of the 619 finisher.

Overall though I have respect for the guy.

Not surprised, but sad to see him go I guess; he was always entertaining.

If this is true, then he needs to go to a company that will give him the respect that he deserves. I have been a fan of his ever since his days in WCW. I have had chances via ordering video tapes of Lucha Libre of seeing him in his natural element of Mexico. I have a tape of The Super J Cup Tournament in Japan in 1995 i think where he faced off against Psicosis in a match for the ages. I suggest you all watch that one. I will post it for you now:

He is without question one of the greatest of all time. He is someone that i respect, and will continue to cheer on. Even though he will, (or at least SHOULD be missed in WWE), i do live in a area that gets TNA, Ring Of Honor, and Lucha Underground. So if he shows up there, i will continue my support. Viva REY MISTERIO JR.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked his little fued w/ psicosis their matches were always great from their early matches in ECW to WCW to even their ECW one night stand match. I read that they trained together w/ Rey's uncle and legit wrestled each other 500 times.

Actually his last memory was getting booed against Bad New Barrett the night after Mania.

Hopefully he gets an induction to the HOF, was great in his prime.
