Pre-show: WWE announced a Twitter poll stipulation for the Roman Reigns vs. Big Show main event. Reigns's mention got a big pop.

Overall, surprisingly decent crowd given the huge lack of star power on this show compared to the New Mexico show. If I were to eyeball it, I would say around 5,000 in attendance. The lower bowl was full and the upper level was mostly empty with pockets of sold tickets.

(1) R-Truth beat Tyson Kidd. Cheap heat for Kidd wearing a Calgary Flames jersey in Edmonton. Truth won with downward spiral. Decent opener. (**1/2)

(2) Darren Young beat Adam Rose. Nothing match. I spent most of the match trying to figure out which local wrestlers were Rosebuds tonight. Young won with a roll-up, then Rose attacked Rosebuds after the match. (*)

(3) Ryback beat Kane. Lots of punching and kicking, then Ryback won with Shellshock. (1/2*)

Connor the Crusher promo. All the feels.

(4) WWE tag champs The Usos beat The Miz & Damien Mizdow to retain the Tag Titles. Mizdow got the first really strong ovation of the night. Miz cheap-heated the crowd ripping the Oilers. Usos then cut a promo about how no one likes Miz and everybody loves Sandow. He mentioned going to WWE.com to sign up for the Network, which drew boos since we still can't get it legally in Alberta. As for the match, Mizdow's act is super distracting and hilarious in-person. Fun match. Usos won after a superkick party and splash. (**1/2)

Chris Jericho came out in his gear for the Highlight Reel. Great ovation for Jericho, who cut a good Jericho promo. Cesaro interrupted to talk some trash in English and Swiss, which led to...

(5) Chris Jericho beat Cesaro. Cesaro doesn't get a whole lot of time to shine on TV, but he thrives on house shows with plenty of time in his matches to showcase his actual personality. Excellent back and forth match won by Jericho with the Codebreaker. Always great watching Jericho because you never know if/when he will be back. (***1/2)

[Intermission]

(6) Naomi & Emma & NXT Women's champion Charlotte beat Summer Rae & Cameron & NXT'er Sasha Banks in a six-Divas tag match. Quite interesting teams. Charlotte got a bunch of Woos and worked as a traditional babyface. The NXT girls are so great; Death Ray is doing great work in Florida. Naomi won in about six minutes pinning Cameron with the Rear View.

Big Show promo. He got a good pop and the first line of his promo was: "You're going to boo me now?" Funny. He talked trash about Reigns.

(7) U.S. champion Rusev (w/Lana) beat Erick Rowan via submission to retain the U.S. Title. Rusev got a surprisingly mixed reaction. Lana ripped on Canada to turn the crowd on them before hyping Fast Lane. Decent pop for Rowan. Typical big-man power match that Rusev won fairly quickly with The Accolade. (*1/2)

The Main Event was Roman Reigns vs. Big Show in a Street Fight. Very strong pop for Reigns, the former Edmonton Eskimo.

(8) Roman Reigns beat Big Show in a Street Fight. Pretty much the same match we have seen forever on Smackdown. Big Show has such as strong presence live and is still a very good big man. Tables, steps, and other plunder were used. Fun WWE main event-style brawl that the crowd was quite invested in. They teased a Reigns spear through the table a few times, then Reigns won with a spear through the table in around 15 minutes.

Quite a fun show even with the lack of star power. House shows are always very fun to attend.

Biggest Cheers:

- Roman Reigns
- Chris Jericho
- Mizdow

Most Heat:

- Tyson Kidd
- Big Show
- Rusev/Lana

I don't know what's going to happen to Reigns, but he also got booed hard in Hartford, nevermind the Rumble in Philly. Not a great sign. Besides, Cena gets cheered at house shows at MSG, for God's sake. That was as recent as the day after Christmas a couple of months ago. And that was NYC, smark capital of the world. House shows are mostly attended by kids, for some reason. I'm not saying Reigns is going to get booed at every Raw and Smackdown, or anything like that. Just saying that house shows are weird like that.

But I was told Roman isn't over and the world is ending because he got booed by smarks :maury
He didn't get booed, he got brutalized. Biggest moment of his career and not even the Rock could stop him getting shit on by an entire arena full of "smarks." That's one thing Reigns marks don't understand. Reigns already failed. No matter how many accolades WWE force on him, it's all bullshit and built on nothing. His push is as hollow and superficial as his fan support. So enjoy, I guess.

They do a terrible job of splitting the roster for house shows.

I figured since Bryan was back they'd have him headline one while Cena headlines the other.

Look at the lineup for this show and compare it to the other one that has Bryan, Cena, Rollins, Ambrose, Ziggler. The Bellas and Paige are off this weekend but they've also been a part of that crew lately. Natalya as well.

If I saw those rosters compared, I would be pissed if I were in Edmonton.

I love that Reigns got one of the biggest reactions of the night at that house show. I thought everyone said he/and WWE were doomed because some guy got eliminated early from the rumble match?

Reigns will reign! I cannot wait.

Thank you @Keepin It Stylish. I'm a grown woman with a degree, far from a "brainless girl" on Tumblr who needs pity just because I don't fall in line as to what other people like and think. If I wanted to fit in with the cool kids around here, I'd only be a Byran fan and cry in every thread because he's not main eventing Wrestlemania. It shouldn't matter to so many why I or anyone else like Roman Reigns. Different strokes, different folks. But for argument's sake, let's just say that my interest in him was based only on the fact that I want him to spear me all night. Unless someone here wants those honors, stop trying to figure out why the man has fans as though it's the answer to the meaning of life.

As for the house show, it's cool he got his pops. In the short term, his reactions will range from good to mixed, but he'll return to his stride later on in the year. He's paying his dues. He'll shore up his respect with most.

i don't think that is quite true. wwe don't really push people based on tv reactions. cena is by far the most popular guy in wwe in terms of merch sales, ticket sales, quarter hour ratings gains and social media followers but he gets almost 100% postive reaction at houseshows and 50/50 reactions at tv

some footage from last night

WWE house shows are like pantomimes; when a bad guy comes out he doesn't tween, there isn't any mixed reactions just boo's, same with faces; the good thing about faces is they high five the crowd whilst heels don't. Plus you ain't going to out hustle an arena full of high pitched women 'n' children;

I don't particularly dislike any wrestler, if I did i'd still cheer I guess if they're in my hometown, whilst at a LIVE RAW there's a hivemind where others next to you, a row down, across the arena share opinions they can vocally express worldwide.

5,000 fans vs 20,000 fans is a different story. We want things to work out for Reigns but I wouldn't count on San Francisco cheering for Reigns at WM 31.

Roman Reigns got heavily cheered in this house show which is good cause this builds him more momentum going into Wrestlemania next month. And people thought he was going to crash and burn. Charlotte and Sasha Banks at this house show and Charlotte got the woos just warms my everlasting heart.:reigns2
