I Like The Ascension Now

When the Ascension was in NXT I thought they sucked. Their promos sucked, their matches weren't memorable because 99% of their tag title run was squash matches. Konnor sucks in the ring still. Physique-wise, they both look run of the mill and Konnor has tits. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I almost died laughing when I saw their first vignette with the new gear and face paint.

But with all of that being said, this throwback gimmick they're doing has made me a fan. Ever since they cut that promo on the LOD and Demolition, I've slowly started to come around.

Their gimmick makes me miss the early 90s when I was a kid and all the wrestlers just screamed random shit for 30 seconds when they cut promos, but it just felt intense. Anybody that can go on TV and utter the words, "We were born and bred to rip and shred!" without corpsing is okay in my book.

I've always liked 'em somewhat. A real legitimate throwback tag team.
Let's take a look at our current tag team division:
- The Usos: Goofy because they're silly samoans that love to have fun
- Gold & Stardust: Goofy because it just is
- Miz & Mizdow: Goofy due to the fact that it's a comedy gimmick
- Los Matadores: Goofy due to being matadors with a midget dressed as a bull
- New Day: Goofy due to being shuckin' and jivin' preachers
- Cesaro & Kidd: Goofy due to the involvement with Adam Rose
- The Ascension: 2 dudes who want to destroy everything in their path.
I'll take it.

Yea I like them as well.

Their theme is motherfucking awesome, they have an interesting look which is primarily a throwback & they have a simple objective which is kick ass & take names.

Same reason why I love Ryback is the same reason why I like these dudes: They remind me of the old era.

I'm not a big fan myself.

It seems they're trying to push some Illuminati theme with them while going in a completely different direction with their behavior and attire. When I think of the Illuminati I think of devious men in suits, not gorillas in shoulder pads and eyeliner.

There is no such thing as whatever it was you mentioned. Unless you really mean gorillas in shoulder pads wearing eyeliner. That I would agree is ridiculous.

I wish I could like these guys but no matter how many chances I give them, I can't help but see them as goofballs trying to act tough. It also doesn't help that they seem to be mediocre at every single thing they do.

Also their finisher freakin sucks.

I always liked these during their NXT days because they always felt intense. In NXT it was subtle but now it's just outright "we're going to destroy everything".

I think the new gimmick is good. I was skeptical at first but now I see how refreshing it is in the tag division we have now. They're not a tag tam aimed at kids like The Usos and their not goofy like Los Matadores, they're an old school, destructive, tear your head off tag team and I'm starting to like it.
