Longtime lurker of this forum...I expect to get a tremendous of amount of hate, but lets face it, it is a real concept in the wrestling world...Daniel Bryan is the definition of Vanilla Midget...A throwback to "The Radicals"-- Benoit, Saturn, Malenko, and Guerrero, got paid millions, and contributed nothing to the growth of the industry...

Pro-Wrestling has always been a niche with a few mainstream breakthrough talents/concepts...Daniel Bryan is a good technical wrestler for the Indy geeks, but not a Rock, Steve Austin, nWo concept...Will put on entertaining matches, but will not bring out the best of the industry...

And Roman will with his constant 1 star or less matches? Yeahhh. Bryan and 4 star + matches doesn't do anything, doesn't bring in fans, doesn't improve ratings.. aye?

Midget maybe. Vanilla? No. If you wanna talk about vanilla look no further then reigns. Vanilla giant.

Daniel Bryan is more over. Better talker. Better worker. How is he vanilla? If he actually had the chance to be the guy and was marketed as such he would bring in tons of money.

I agree with the idea that "vanilla midgets" shouldn't be the main guys. I'm one of the few around here that think the main event scene should consist mostly of huge monsters of men instead of everyday people like Daniel Bryan. That being said, Daniel Bryan as a character is already miles ahead of Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn.

Dean Malenko is my all-time favorite ring worker, so I don't mean to downplay his career, but he was nowhere as important in the grand scheme of things as Bryan has been. Bryan is Dean Malenko with Steve Austin's push. I can only think of one or two times Dean Malenko got a pop anywhere near the level of what Bryan gets on a weekly basis. In my ideal world, he'd be in the midcard putting on clinics with people like Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, but he's already a main eventer.

With the fan support he has, it's either main event or nothing. I really don't think any amount of bad booking will kill Bryan's fan support, so he's a special occasion where I'm fine with a little guy being the focus of the show.

The "Vanilla" concept may be real, but the "Vanilla Midget" concept is absolutely not real. It is the product of the sick mind of Kevin Trash, the worst wrestler in history.

Roman Reigns may not be a midget (cruiserweight) but he is most definitely vanilla. He has no charisma, no personality, can't talk and doesn't get as big of a reaction from the crowd as Ambrose, Bryan and Ziggler.

When the Big Man, Kevin Trash, was face of the WWE, it was the worst year in the history of the company. They almost went out of business. His success in WCW is circumstantial and he was riding Hogan's coattails.

John Cena has been on top of this business for 10 years. The ratings for Raw have been on average 3.3 - 3.8 ever since the Monday Night Wars ended and they have not gone up thanks to Cena.

"it ain't about the size of the dog in the fight, it's about the size of the fight in the dog"

all i gotta say, bryan works his fucking ass off and has been doing so for YEARS, he earned his shot, vanilla midget or not, he is one of the best wrestlers on earth.

same with cm punk.

you wanna know why people hate on reigns? he is having everything handed to him because he has "the look" that all the people you mentioned HAVE. He isn't half the wrestler bryan is.

You know what I just realized?

No one calls the "non-vanilla" guys chocolate.

You just :buried yourself.

Those guys have brought much more to wrestling then you can imagine.

Vanilla midget is a term coined by the biggest vanilla giant in sports entertainment, Kevin Nash.

But Chris Benoit could headline, despite WWE today making him pretty much non-existent.

Eddie Guerrero could too.

Perry Saturn, I don't know what happened to him.

and I still wish that slut Lita would have broke Dean Malenko off some (booty) back when was googoo eyed over Matt Hardy. Heck I think Dean pursued her before even Matt caught her interests.
