So Bryan Wins the Title. Then?

So let's say hyopthetically Daniel Bryan won RR and went on to win at Mania. The most appealing thing about him is that he's small, full of heart, and is an underdog. We root for him to overcome all that. So when he does, and is now champ, and no longer an underdog, what else is there? Can he have a long, successful title reign? What would keep him appealing? And would WWE want their champ to still base his whole title reign on still being an underdog trying to hold on to his title? Not saying I know how it'd go, Just something I was thinking about. Any ideas?

Lose the title at MITB or Summerslam to Rollins/Ziggler/Bray/Ambrose.
Wrestlemania XIV-Triple H's first reign saw the rise of wrestlers capturing titles for the first time (save Mania XV and Undertaker's reign). We need a period where we get first time champs crowned. No more Cena/Sheamus/Orton.

In a perfect world? He would have matches with CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Bray Wyatt, Damien Sandow, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and some of the great NXT talent that is bound to come up in 2015.

What fans would appeal to is the great fucking matches they would be gifted by arguably the best talent on the roster.

Exactly. So you he'd go from a guy we all want to see succeed, to a guy we can't stand the sight of, and not Bc he's a super heel, but Bc we're tired of the same old sh*t. The strong, confident champion ala Brock works. The undersized, underdog champion is tougher to believe, and to STAY behind Bc there's seemingly only one way his run can go.

Here's a novel idea:

Perform wrestling matches with other wrestlers on a wrestling show owned by "World Wrestling Entertainment".
I guess I'm overthinking things though.
Yeah but does he wrestle a garbage man or a cop or a construction worker or an Indian or a Navy vet or something? What non wrestler gimmick tries to beat him. We can't just let him wrestle a wrestler with a wrestler' s gimmick. :vince

We haven't even seen Bryan as a champion, we saw it for 2 or 3 weeks.

He was still looking like the underdog to Kane and when your so over as a babyface no matter who you face your gonna be cheered.

Any heelish traits shown towards Bryan could be seen as him going against the odds, the whole "underdog" tag would get repetitive but the way I see is there are so many amazing feuds ahead if he ever became champion again.

Too bad I don't think he will. fpalm

Then let's hear it man. That's the point of the thread. Nobodies saying he doesn't have something about him people love. But that doesn't change the fact that he'll still always be 5'9" and 180lbs and generally things will always resort in the end to him being the smaller guy trying to overcome someone bigger and stronger. Can you ever see him being a favorite to win in any program? That to me just seems like a recipe for another Cena-esque run where he's comstantly overcoming insurmountable odds to win. And don't get me wrong Bc I like him a lot. Along w Seth and Bray, I think he's amongst my favorites. But I could see the story getting stale over time, the same as ANY wrestling storyline gets if used too many times

Reigns did win the RR. The most appealing thing about him is apparently he has DA LOOK. We root for him to make it through his match without getting gassed, and we root for him to actually pull out a 4th move. So what else is there?

Furthermore, we know WWE wants him to have a long title reign. It will last for at least as long as CM Punk's for ego reasons, and involve a torch match at WM32 so that Cena is finally cleared out of the way. That dude is going to be cleaning out the company like a janitor.

Because they aint going quadfecta(Streak Rub, Title Rub, First Guy to Win the WWE Title from NXT Rub, Ended The Authority Rub) at WM31, without killing the roster and also taking John Cena out to the woodshed in Texas and beating the fire out of him come 2016. Everything is predictable. Everything is known. This is going to sell? REALLY?

Sorry. I Don't Believe That.

But who knows, the saddest part is that it just may work. We'll see.

He was like champion for less than a fucking month, he deserves a long reign....not to long mind you

That is not the WWE's fault.

He JUST got back. He's had what, 2 matches since his return from serious injury? You can tell that from his physique. He hasn't had time to get into prime shape. Bryan himself said that he isn't 100 percent yet and that he still feels effects from the nerve damage.

I'm sure he will be main eventing again, but people need to be bloody patient.

there are plenty of scenarios that could have been a lot better than this crap card that they are giving us

DB winning the title.. then feuding with Seth Rollin.. Ruseve.. Reign and even shamus...

wrestlemania card should have been

Brock vs bryan
Cena vs Ruseve
Reign vs bray
seth vs Randy
Ambrose vs Ceasaro/shamus.

Fueds w any of those 4 minus rollins (Rusev, Reigns, Sheamus) and btw sheamus even in that discussion is a reach too, is gonna be exactly that. Rusev is the "undefeated super athlete", Reigns is "powerhouse", and Sheamus is 6'5", shredded up brawler. Each pitts Bryan in the same spot. Cool for a while, bound to get stale though. Trust me I'm not a Bryan hater either. Quite the contrary, I was rooting for a great showing at the rumble and real pissed when he was tossed out like some jobber

First off, you don't know what you're talking about. Those are just things you assume. Bryan plays a good underdog but don't forget he was getting cheered over IWC god CM Punk outright at Over the Limit 2012 as heel and was getting cheered to such a degree that they had to create that Hell No tag team as a diversion to allow the Punk title reign to continue so fans wouldn't do what they did in 2013 for Bryan heading into Summerslam.

Bryan is the best performer In the WWE. That's why he's cheered as hard as he is. if he won the title, what do you do? Put him against Seth, Sheamus, Wyatt for the payback, and Cesaro. Easily can go 6 months of feuds with those opponents alone. It doesn't take a genius to do what they used to do for Austin and everybody else.

Oh yeah..if they took Bryan off of Raw, that would end Reigns. Simple as that. That's telling the fans he's not good enough to be around the fan loved star that is Bryan and that we are afraid to have them at the same place at the same time.

Ha We have smarks in the water! First things first, Bryan is GOOD in the ring. Not the best. Guys like Seth, Dolph, and heck, even Bray consistently surprise us w new stuff in the ring far more than DB. It's come to the point where I can script his matches w ease... He's getting beaten down 90% of the time, then he'll find a way to dig real deep and mount a comeback, that's when we get kicks to a kneeling guys chest, a run up the turnbuckle into a weak backflip, a dive through the middle rope, and then he runs real fast from corner to corner and hits flying knees. So stop. The idea that he's miles ahead of everyone in the ring is a farce. Secondly, I know this is blasphemy amongst the marks as yourself, but I'm not even totally sure if it's him being over as much as it is the YES chant being over. If that doesn't catch fire, who knows how the crowd interacts w him? I know that prob hurts your heart, but it's true. Look, he's solid in all areas and he deserves to be near the top of the card. Nobody's debating that. And don't get me wrong, I like the idea of the underdog raising up and toppling the bigger guy but how many times can we run that story before it gets corny? A champion is supposed to be someone who people believe is going to win. You can't go into literally every feud expecting lose. How is that a champion? I'll be honest I liked him a lot and really appreciated what he did a lot more until I got to reading in here and every post is reminding me how great he is, that he's a WWE God, and the company would crumble without him. It's almost like the Cena effect where I liked him till I was over saturated w him, and now I don't even wanna hear about him anymore. And btw he's not Austin, a 250 Lb ass kicker we never expected to lose. He can't be booked like Austin. And no matter how loud the building gets when he comes through the curtain, I saw almost literally EVERYBODY in an Austin 3:16 shirt in the 90's. I only see a few YES shirts scattered throughout the crowd, while Cena gear continues to be everywhere

I dont get some of these Bryan haters they say Bryan had his moment but fail to mention that guys like Hogan Cena Macho Man Bret Hart Stone Cold The Rock etc headlined more than one wrestlemania but lets forget that so you can suit your own agenda.

These are the same people that say let Roman have his moment now and want him to headline next year again with The Rock SMFH cut the crap already. Tell me then whats so wrong for Bryan marks wanting to see Bryan vs Brock if you guys basically want Reigns vs The Rock next year?

WWE has trained you so fucking well..

Well done sheeps.

Have him hold the title until he dies.

Marks won't want anyone else to win it so they HiJack his funeral and demand they bury the title with Bryan and retire it. They boo at the funeral and force Vince's hand.

The title gets buried with Bryan and the Fans Yes chant as the casket drops.

Dude that's awesome. And that's how it feels. I think we can all agree he's good. And he belongs in a prominent spot in the company. But the idea that he's the best worker/speaker/etc by miles kills me. Somewhere apparently it got cool to just rebel against them and find a way to be upset over anything the the WWE does so we'll hate everyone they choose to push, and push anyone they don't. And if he ends up at some point getting the push, it'll be those same people in 6 months who are over it, and booing til the next guys comes up. Don't like it, don't watch. But they will, every week, just like always

He wouldn't and shouldn't be champ past WrestleMania. The one thing where WWE is 100% correct on is that it's the Shield's time now.

If Bryan won the Rumble and defeated Brock Lesnar people wouldn't complain when Rollins knocked him off. What should of been done is Rollins gets from WM to Summerslam, Ambrose gets Summerslam to around the RR, then you could go with Reigns at 32.

Rollins wouldn't even be where he is today had Bryan not got injured. Why the hell would Bryan be a buffer to prop up Rollins? This is all insane. This is like spitting on Austin in 99. Doesn't work.
