WWE is reportedly no longer branding WrestleMania with numbers, at least with the logo. Instead, symbols are being used to distinguish each event.

It was announced last week that WrestleMania will come to AT&T Stadium in Texas on April 3rd, 2016 and "32" is nowhere to be seen on the logo. It instead features a star to represent the "Lone Star State." On top of that, the logo for this year's WrestleMania features a "Play" button. to represent Silicon Valley, which is near Levi's Stadium, in Santa Clara, California.

This is according to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, who said on Wrestling Observer Radio today that the events are no longer being branded with numbers "because Vince McMahon thinks it makes it sound too old.

:lmao

Remember when Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar for the title at the Wrestlemania with the play logo?!?! That was amazing!

"Makes it sound too old" Isn't that the whole point? To make the show come off as prestigious? fpalm

"Hey Paul, Roman numerals aren't cool with the kids anymore. What is?"

"Uh...twitter, Facebook, video games, music..."

"Music huh? Would they like Freddy and the Dreamers to perform at Wrestlemania? Or maybe Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs?"

"They were popular in the 50s and 60s dad. They like artists such as L'il Wayne or Nicki Minaj."

"Is that L'il guy related to Rock or something?"

"Wayne, dad. Not Dwayne."

"This is too complicated. You said video games right? Space Invaders is still popular right?"

"Not in about 40 years dad."

"Well god damnit, what's popular in video games then?!"

"Well, most kids are fans of Playstation 4 or..."

"PERFECT! Tell me about this Gamestation..."

"PLAYstation..."

"Yeah right sure, do we have one?"

"Yeah, I was playing it over lunch, come take a look."

"Huh, this controller is the damndest thing...how do you even hold it?"

"Its not a gun, dad, stop aiming it at the TV."

"Fine, fine. What are these little things with the icons on them?"

"Buttons..."

"There's a little box...a circle...hmmm, and a little triangle..."

"Yeah, you push them in game and they do certain things."

"Well maybe we take one of these symbols, kinda rebrand it and make it our own!"

"What do you mean?"

"Well Wrestlemania needs an update. What if we take this triangle, turn it on its side to be more oblong, and make this the number for Wrestlemania?"

"Dad, that's a terrible idea..."

"No wait, when we put it on its side, its like a little play button! That's it! Play, like on VCRs! And now its also this little triangle for Gamestation! How can anyone not make the connection, its genius! VCRs are still popular, right...?"

"Dad, we've been using DVD players for over a decade..."

"DVD...Death Valley Driver?"

"I quit."

And that's how this idea was born.

I don't think I can rep, like, quote and agree with this enough. Perfect.

His worried about "old numbers"? How about the old numbers that indicate how old 2 useless has been oxygen thieves named Kane and Big Show. Why don't you part fucking ways with them cause of their numbers being to old.

I really hope this is fucking bullshit, that's literally one of the best things about 'Mania, it's distinguishable by the number.

"Dude, remember the first MiTB at '21?!"
"Yeah but the one on 24 was best!"

how the fuck are we supposed to differentiate these ppv's from eachother without the numbers?
"Remember that time Cena won at Wrestlemania?"
"yup."

I always remember things by year and always screw up with the numbers of the shows, so I'll appreciate this. That being said I do think there's something to the whole number deal. For whatever reason people like to recount Super Bowls by number (with the whole Roman Numeral thing too) so given WrestleMania is often branding as wrestling's Super Bowl, they should probably continue with the whole Roman Numeral thing for the sake of branding even if I'm personally not a fan.

The Super Bowl, the World Series, the Academy Awards, they all highlight the number. Whatever lol.
