I don't get marking out over Roman Reigns

Recent months an influx of Roman Reigns fans have been appearing. But I ask, why?

What exactly is there to mark out about?

Roman Reigns is a guy with a lot of potential in this business and could very well be the industry's next top star. Then again, I can say the same exact thing about Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, Cesaro, Titus O 'Neill, Big E Langston, Sami Zayn, Finn Balor, and even Sheamus. The key here is POTENTIAL, as all the guys I listed including Roman Reigns are all missing something right now that is preventing them from being in that top spot just yet.

Roman Reigns on the other hand is way behind on a lot of things. Anyone who has been watching wrestling all their life...nah, 2 years actually can tell there is many cracks in Roman Reigns as a performer. It's been 2 years since his debut at Survivor Series, and even longer including his time in developmental, and the guy simply hasn't changed all that much.

Since then, he's learned how to do a lot of gimmick spots like the Superman Punch and that kick thing he does and managed to get them over. This is a great thing and pretty much translates into cash if the crowd continues to get into it, but even before his return at TLC a couple of weeks ago the crowds were just wanning down on Roman Reigns each and every show he was in, which is happening yet again.

Roman Reigns simply put, does not have the ability to carry his momentum right. Here's a guy who's getting the keys to the kingdom and every opportunity to do so, and he can't even carry a solid reaction in each town he's in. Every show continues to have Reigns becoming less and less over outside of Smackdown cause Vince tells the producers to edit in crowd noises.

Roman Reigns however does have a good look, and has some solid spots in his matches with the superman punch, his spear, his kick thing, and all three of those will continue to be over. However I feel like he's ending up like a lot of guys Vince tries to push hard in the past like Del Rio and Sheamus for example...he's getting too much he's capable of carrying, and that's nothing but a story to backfire on him.

But that's it. He's very limited in-ring, gets tired very easily, his promos are legitimately awful with constant botching, he has no charisma, his gimmick is literally "Superman," there's just nothing here for me to get all excited for.

There's nothing about Roman Reigns that is telling people to purchase a ticket to see him, or buy his merch cause his merch is terrible looking. I see more Ambrose, Punk, Bryan and Ziggler merch in audiences than Reigns merch, and this is supposed to be the next top guy...

I can understand being a fan of him, considering I actually like Roman Reigns and wish him the best, but being a mark aka getting excited and pumped to see him...I'm just not seeing it, sorry. Nothing about him makes me excited or wanting to turn the channel to RAW to watch. Roman Reigns is not "must-watch" for me on RAW.

So I ask again, why mark over Roman Reigns?

I just want a legitimate answer to this.

I'm not trolling just more confused than anything. If anyone here marks out for Roman Reigns, tell me why. I want to know what makes him appealing to you that you'd get excited to see him or pumped to see him. Cause I sure ain't doing it, so maybe you can fill me in and what's to mark out for.

the best part about reigns threads is seeing the tags on them. I agree with you op, I have yet to see a good reason other than "he looks cool/like a badass". I think he has a shit ton of potential, but I don't think that's mark-out worthy. I would like to see legit reasons other than "he has IT"

I think it's bad for wrestling as well. There's nothing wrong with the prettyboy look by any means, but making it associated with the look of "world champion" is bad for business and very limited on what you can market and what you can't market. Back in the day of territories there was all sorts of drawing wrestlers and champions and none of them had a similar look. But nowadays WWE has tailored it so everyone must be attractive to be a top guy or a draw, which I find silly.

Everyone has something to offer, even Roman Reigns. WWE just doesn't take advantage of people's strength and markets only certain guys as the total package.

Bring Back Russo is neither a girl or gay.

I guess people are fascinated with the way he looks.. People seem to talk about it a lot.

Because people like him. I never understood the "I don't see the appeal of *insert wrestler here*. Now try to convince why he's your favorite even though I won't really change my opinion because at the end of the day, *wrestler* does nothing for me." threads.

I'm not a huge fan of Sandow. But I won't go out there questioning folks on why they like him. He's had funny moments, but I don't mark for him. But it's cool for those who do. If something entertains you, then something entertains you. Same goes for any other wrestler. I may not be entertained, but someone else is and that's fine.

That's the beauty of having variety of talents. There's something for everyone.

I don't understand why people are so fascinated with Roman and why he has fans. Roman is a boring piece of shit according to most on this board? Then why are there always an influx of threads about him? Why do the same people rush to his threads to post about him?

For a guy no one gives a shit about, he surely gets talked about waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than the more talented wrestlers on the roster.

I, for one am very entertained by Roman on and off tv. I, unlike most people it seems, don't wait until a wrestler becomes something to hop on a bandwagon. If I see potential, I'm very willing to go on the journey. I don't' look at a green guy, shit on him and then hop on his dick once he shows improvement cough Ryback cough.

I'm very fine in seeing how the Roman saga plays out throughout the years. I like to watch his matches. I just wish he didn't sell so much. But I very much enjoy when he's on offense and gets hyped up. I like Roman outside the ring too. His interviews more times than not are very fun and chill. I'd like to see that personality turned up to 11 on the shows, but I think that will come in time. WWE is hell bent on pushing him in an unnatural way character and script wise for now.

All in all, I see a guy who I believe can and will be something in WWE. I'm sorry I'm not here to shit on the guy like most want to do because they're really pissed at WWE, but immaturity makes them lash out at a guy simply doing his job.

Problem with his push? Cool, I get it. I"m very vocal on him needing time. But that won't stop me from cheering him on and watching him progress and see where he goes.

I'm invested in the journey and evolution of Roman Reigns :shrug It's simple as that. I have high hopes for him and he entertains me at the moment. There are other wrestlers on the roster who you can mark for. Roman barely gets screen time at the moment anyways. You all will live lol

Da STRONG Look will be on your screens years from now, doing his thing after fulfilling his potential. Belee Dat :D:

I'm not any sort of Roman fan but honestly this thread and others like it are stupid as hell, why make a thread about how much you don't like a guy and then ask his marks to explain why they like him?; seems like a waste of time.

Plenty of straight guys like Reigns. I dont see why fans have to explain their choices. Different strokes for different folks. Its not hard to see why though. He appeals to females a lot but He's also a guys guy. No, I don't think he's just a pretty boy. He's a badass and he carries himself that way. Hes dominant and a man of few words (most of the time). He's not yet been cheesed up like a lot of the other faces. He's from the Shield & whether you like him in the ring or not he brings a lot of energy when hes out there performing.

Not everyone will agree with his appeal. To be honest a lot of Reigns fan don't even overrate him. We see his weaknesses. It's usually the people who don't like Reigns that completely shit on everything about him, from his look, to his voice, to his gestures....etc.

I think people hate on the guy because of what they think he will be rather than what he actually is. I don't really care for the guy but I've began feeling sorry for him. He's just another victim of bad booking. He hasn't been given any character development whatsover. What's his motivation? How can I or anyone else relate to him when we haven't a clue who he is?

The only good thing about the, apparent, big push is that it could end up with a heel turn which would at least require some kind of character development. And then maybe the guy will be able to evoke some sort of emotion from me other than apathy.

If you going to get over the royal rumble and get over :brock ofcourse people will talk about you! I dont know if that 435 reign is true but Reigns is awful and cant hold his own for 10 minutes in the ring that will be an epic fail he doesnt have the mic skills and charisma to interest me for such a ridicolous reign pun intended.

He has shown me nothing for the push his going to get other than da look most of his fans are unreasonable are fake and only cheer for winners i dont take them seriously some idiot called him the goat they dont deserve to be taken seriously excluding that wynter guy or a rare few.

He is a future goat.

Whenever I see someone write "BLEEE DAT" as an actual way to compliment him, I'm reminded of those idiotic youtube celebrities. Like that PewDiePie guy.

...Reigns is PewDiePie confirmed.
