Is 2014 the worst year?

I keep changing my mind. I think objectively there has been worse but what changes my mind is the begging for Orton to come back. When Blandy Boreton is meant to be he saviour things are BAD REALLY FUCKING BAD.

I actually kinda think 1995 gets an unnecessarily bad rap. Yes, I'm not defending the fact that it was a bad, bad year. However, I dunno if its the absolute worst. In ring, there was some really strong stuff.

This year...there's no excuse, as you said. 1995, wrestling was in a funk all across North America. WCW felt it just as bad. In 2014, not only do they not have competition, but they've had the experiences of seeing others and themselves fail so they don't make the same mistakes. Yet things are still just terrible. I can't remember a time when match outcomes meant less, titles meant less or anything generally going on meant less. Yes, there have been a few break out stars, but injury, bad booking and atrocious writing have just killed them. I'm sorry, but the only reason for this occurring is incompetence, and for the so called #1 wrestling promotion in the world, that's inexcusable.

2014 was better than all those 3 years(1995, 2009, 2012) combined.

1995 had a poor roster and poor storylines.

2009 was very poor.

2012 only had Rock/Cena going for it.

Too many significant moments happened this year, this year will go down as a very important year in WWE history, and best year overall for the current era.

I'd maybe say so. The first half was frustrating, a lot of steps forward and so much more taken backwards. It seems for every right the WWE did, they decided for no reason to add on a ton of more wrongs just to fuck with us.

The theme of this year was "We don't care, just buy the Network." Wrestlemania was great, so was the Summerslam. MiTB was good also, maybe so were some other PPVs. Other than that even the PPVs were half-assed. The second half of the year was brutal. Just awful. But we had NXT PPVs to get us through it.

I wouldn't know where to rank it, I'd rather just not, but personally speaking it was tough to sit through this year - as tough as ever. Outside of Daniel Bryan's WM moment and the 21-1, I'd like to pretend that this year just simply did not happen.

For people saying it's the worst year, please explain how 2014 was worse than the following years:

1995, 2002(WWE took a nosedive after Rock left and we got Triple H ruling over Raw)-2011.

2014 was a near perfect year,

- underdog babyface overcomes unlawful authority figure at Wrestlemania(Daniel Bryan overcoming The Authority at Wrestlemania XXX), they gave us the biggest possible babyface moment.

-developmental system is working(NXT),

- a storyline which got everyone who was apart of it over(Authority Storyline),

-shocking moments(Streak ended, Brock burying Cena at SS),

- Huge Hogan era & Attitude era like Segments, Pops & Moments(Occupy Raw/Yes Movement, Daniel Bryan overcoming Wyatt's, Rock returning in brooklyn, Shield vs Wyatts, Shield overcoming Evolution, Shield breaking up going solo.)

What more do you want?

Some of you are serious drama queens. The first half of 2014 was excellent. The second half has been mediocre. It's nowhere near the worst year ever!

This year we got
1-Daniel Bryan winning the title at Mania after winning TWO matches.
2-Shield vs Evolution twice.
3-Shield vs Wyatt Family
4-Great Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins matches
5-Brock Lesnar doing something no one thought anyone would ever do!
6-Dolph Ziggler having a career comeback year.
7-A new breed of superstars making names for themselves.

If anything, 2015 is positioning itself to be much worse based on the bad ending of 2014 only due to the possible plans to overpush Roman Reigns and ignore everyone else, basically John Cena booking.

3/10 before Extreme Rules and -5/10 after. Vince's brass ring comment might be the lowest point in WWE history.

Honestly if it wasn't for D Bry and Punk the WWE might have been at an all time shit level for the last 5 years. How 2013 was so freaking brilliant might be the greatest anomaly in human history.

Obviously some of you aren't old enough to remember 1995, that was the worst year be a distance in terms of the product. In terms of numbers and revenue 1996/7 was the worst as they were close to going out of business, but the in ring product was fantastic with the likes of Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart, Canada vs USA, Emergence of Steve Austin and The Rock etc.

I give a 4/10 to this year. It could have been worse if Bryan wouldn't have won the championship on WrestleMania30, if Lesnar wouldn't have destroyed Cena on SummerSlam, if Sting wouldn't have debuted and if we didn't saw the ascension of Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose(early, then WWE screw him later). It had good things, but unfortunetly, there was more negative things.

Yep,very boring and bad year. Most matches ended by DQ which sucks and also 2014 saw pointless Evolution return(One of the best and my favourite faction returned just to job to Shield :/)End of the streak,Daniel Bryan 2 victories 1 night, boring Bellas storyline,CM Punk quiting. The only good thing that happened in this year is propably Paige debut in main roster, all other things basically sucked.Never saw worse year

When did you start watching wrestling? 2014 had one of the highest drawing Wrestlemania's of all time and one of the biggest draws of all time(Daniel Bryan), storylines were awesome, we got alot of legends who returned and new talent was put over.

As a guy who watched the Attitude era but missed the Hogan days in the 80s, my favorite years of wrestling are the following:

1999-2001(stretch to early 2002)

I rank 2014 up with those awesome years.

The worse years in wrestling are the following:

1995(wasn't watching then, but looking back it was bad), 2002(started great but took a nosedive after Wrestlemania, started getting turned off as a viewer), 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.

It got so bad in the mid 2000s that I stopped watching wrestling on a regular basis in 2005, I didn't get back into it until 2008, in which since then I kept feeling as if I was forcing myself to watch it.

Rock comes back in 2011 and I start to want to watch it, 2013-2014, especially 2014 have been some of the best years. even though I have a job now and need to sleep early, I still want to watch Raw.

WWE has finally, for the first time since the early 2000s gave me quality entertainment.

Just Imagine if we had sheamus vs Draw Bryan, HHH vs Punk, Shield Triple Threat in a rubbish 5 minutes midcard match to put over Rains and Orton vs Batista AT WMXXX or Brock Lesnar squashing Daniel Bryan for the title at SummerSlam. Damn we missed some big shit.

But it's still a horrible year. WMXXX felt so big and cool, everybody was talking about htis new era and then it fell so bad and so deep it's just... RollerCoaster!

First half was decent and looked like a new Era was about to begin (cuz of 2013 2nd half )

We had SHIELD vs Wyatt showdowns ( RR : Daniel vs Wyatt )
We had Cesaro winning the memorial b-royal with a slam on Show
We had the streak broken by Brock
We had the rise of Daniel Bryan
We saw a dim light of hope in the tag division when Rhodes brothers, Usos, Wyatts were fresh on the division but they messed up
Cena was slowly backing up ( so i thought -.- )

then came the 2nd half of the year

Aftereffects of Wyatt brutal burial
Authority angle fuckery
Damien Sandow stupid gimmicks
Cena re-burying the Wyatts on the night after Brock whooped his ass
Kane ruining too many matches
Dean vs Wyatt too soon with no build up whatsoever

and the worst:

a 1 match card PPV only, yes because this last PPVs card are weak as fuck, it shows how much they care about the rest of the roster when u only have a decent(still shity) Match as your main event and dont have anything else and have to make Hornswoggle, Heath Slater,Matadores and other jobbers waste our time...

Still i didnt like 2012 either...
