We're all aware that there's plenty of debate over whether or not Roman Reigns is ready to win RR and headline Wrestlemania, with the majority seeming to be of the opinion that he is not yet in that position. As a Reigns supporter myself, I also think that another year or so as a singles competitor would definitely benefit him in the long run.
So, I was wondering who everyone thought would be the best guy for Roman to feud with in the meantime to help him improve as a wrestler and as a character. Big Show is obviously a no-go (retire already!). John Cena IMO doesn't seem like the right fit either, Randy Orton's already been done, and guys like Dean or Seth are also still up-and-coming where it wouldn't seem right for them to build up their previous ally.
My opinion? He should be sent back to NXT until his ring and mic skills improve a whole fucking lot.
The guy can't carry a decent singles match over five minutes and his promos are cringeworthy. He isn't main roster ready never mind ready to be the top guy in the company.
If it were me, I'd have Rollins take the belt from him at Mania due to a cash in and let Rollins feud with the other enemies he's made.
In the meantime, I'd send Reigns on a year long chase for the belt and have him work with a heel Sheamus, Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt, and maybe even Wade Barrett because those guys could really help him improve along the way due to being similar in height to him and being good ring workers. I also think wrestling HHH could help him along the way as well.
Big Show is the best opponent for him now.
He'll face Lesnar at WM - that's the match he is prepairing to.
Working with Rollins wouldn't help him in match with Brock. Working with Big Show may help.
:drake1? How is Big Show's fat ass going to help Reigns improve when he can't effectively use half of his already limited moveset on him? He needs someone he can toss around the ring.
A guy to help him improve as a wrestler:
That tends to be Cesaro's department. He said it himself, his greatest weakness is that he brings out the best in his opponent and they end up doing something that he didnt anticipate. Luke Harper would be a great choice as well.
A guy to help him improve as a character:
Bray Wyatt. A guy who thrives off of storylines and characters. I know Bray could come up with some type of weakness that Roman's character could have and cut promo's about it to get inside his head. They can start a storyline from there to further add depth to Roman's character.
Historically a youngster that was going to be pushed would be put in with a reliable veteran who knew how to show someone the ropes. Unfortunately there are very few options in that area.
Goldust would be perfect but a Goldust/Reigns feud would excite no one.
Heel Jericho would be awesome but he won't commit full-time.
Van Dam, Kane, Henry and Big Show won't work despite their veteran status.
Christian is probably retired.
Billy Gunn is in his 50s and couldn't headline in his prime.
Honestly their best option would be an outside option. If they could and would pick-up someone like Bobby Roode they could have a multi-match feud for the title. The problem with that is that very few people know who he is.
That leave you with one option of a still active wrestler who can headline, train and teach: HHH.
