I think a great gimmick would be a guy who lives in a Trailer Park and likes to fight. I personally think Chris Hero would be great in this gimmick since he has the build and look of someone who lives in a trailer.
A genius "villain" who always outsmarts his opponents, who will do anything to reach his goals, even if it means damaging everyone and everything around him.
Mercenary Tao: an hire-gun, merciless and sadistic guy who would do anything as long as the Powers That Be offered him big money. I would have Wade Barret playing this gimmick, being english would add more fuel to his gimmick.
Actually, Bray Wyatt is pretty much the gimmick I've always wanted to see. Chaotically evil mastermind with flair and grandeur and poetic promos. I never pictured the gimmick as a hillbilly, more like a Joker, but Bray definitely contains the same spirit and charisma I've always wanted to see, especially back when he was feuding with the Shield. It's the only time the Shield was completely overshadowed in awesome.
I found this gimmick on the forums a year or two ago.
A prisoner gimmick would be awesome where he has guards escort him to the ring, unchain his handcuffs and he then proceeds to near kill his opponents in the ring until the guards restrain him. This would have so much potential. Hell, they could debut one wrestler as being a guard for him and feuding with him. The feud could either start by him attacking the guard and challenging him to a match or the guard treating him poorly leading to a face turn.
Luke Harper or Eric Rowan would fit this gimmick perfectly. They could possibly but reintroduced but I don't see it happening. Kevin Owens would work, but he is fine how he is. Baron Corbin might be the best option that we know of but there must be someone down in NXT with a better look for it.
Politically Correct Wrestling Person "Competes" in the WWE as not a wrestler, or even an entertainer, but one who serves to enlighten the WWE Universe. So politically correct that he refuses to identify with any gender, and so skilled that even though he would rather that everyone win (or lose), he can't help but defeat his opponents. It's his curse, but also his weapon when he goes up against those who refuse to be enlightened.
Bray Wyatt as a southern slave master who whips his opponents after matches and has a small stable of slaves in rags and chains.
It'd never fly but I'd love it. I'm an African-American btw. If they can release stuff like Django in theaters then wrestling can do a slavery gimmick. In theory...
The Chameleon. An idea I remember having when i was a little kid.
Wears a full body suit of sorts, completely masking his identity. His gimmick would be copying his opponent exactly, from taunts and signature moves, all the way down even to the mannerisms. In a sense would be like the wrestler wrestling a form of himself.
It'd require a talented wrestler, and one with great versatility to perfect the wide variety of styles seen across WWE.
Granted it would end up kinda goofy most likely in today's WWE, but I always thought it was a neat concept.
Hitman character, where superstars can "hire" him to take out their competition (kind of like APA).
I think Cesaro could fit the character since it wouldn't require much mic work, just let him have an office backstage, put him in a suit and sun glasses.
Really enjoyed reading everyone's responses to this one.
I wouldn't mind a nostalgic gimmick, Like what Eugene did by borrowing finishers and catchphrases from other and past wrestlers, I think it could work quite well if handled correctly.
Mr Kennedy......Kennedy would probably be my pick as I think he was great at being kind of tongue in cheek and having that kind of sarcastic humour about him.
That I think you would need to really pull off a gimmick of this style without it just being cheap and stupid.
Maybe some crazy like..
An Ku Klux Klan stable than are never seen without the white uniforms on and on one occasion they get unmasked and it is revealed that they are The New Day, lol that would be the ultimate swerve.
Sami Zayn playing a radicalised muslim.
Rosa Mendes playing a alcoholic whore.
Ryback playing a parody of himself where he is always hungry and is eating food during matches.
Jack Swagger turning his back on America and becoming a Russian joing Lana & Rusev.
Big Show becoming a porn star.
John Cena becoming a corporate machine and is constanly plugging the WWE Network and Make a Wish.
Heath Slater & Titus'O Neil developing a homosexaul relationship with each other.
The Bella Twins having a sexaul relationship with each other.
Luke Harper becoming a satanic cult leader with Paige.
I want to see a hardcore Liberal PC guy, he'd be gay and anytime he loses he'd blame the refs for losings, anytime a black wrestler loses he comes out and does a promo about how it's discrimination and how white wrestlers should let black wrestlers win. Anytime someone does a promo against him he calls them a homophobe and that they're uneducated and hateful. He'll preach tolerance and acceptance but then rip on everyone for not sharing his beliefs and being successful. He'll be a complete hypocrite and asshat. He'll preach about how Obama is good and anyone who disagrees with anything the president says or does is racist.
Me personal would love to see them do a modern cocky black athlete. They kinda did it with MVP but I mean go full in to it and put fake stories on WWE.com of him getting DWI's and fights in clubs then he does a press conference where he has hipster glasses and a bow-tie on like alot NBA players do where he apologizes for his bad behavior but then he does it again. Then when he is in the ring and he hits a big home he hams it up like TO or Ochocinco does with dumb stunts like taking someones drink from the audience and splashes it on his head resulting in "fines". Then with promos have him go trash talking like Sherman "Im the best wrestler on this roster when you try me out what a sorry jobber like Ziggler that's the result you gonna get". But the key to his character has to be he win alot this gimmick won't work with some mid-card jobber. Plus if they're going to stereotype black wrestler at least keep it modern.
I'd like to see a Sabu clone. Arabian gimmick, but more of a focus on being completely crazy than Arabian.
