WWE sabotaged Batista on purpose?

When Batista first came back it was pretty cool. A big star coming back to help this shitty era of wrestling. But WWE in their infinite wisdom (sarcasm) not only decided to bring him back as a babyface they decided to go with him as THE top babyface going into Wrestlemania despite the obvious fact the fans wanted Bryan (at the objection of Batista himself).

You know how the rest of the story goes. Batista wins the Rumble and there is immediate backlash from the fans. But why would WWE do this on purpose? Who were the last two people in the Rumble? Batista and...Roman Reigns. You'd have to be some of the biggest idiots ever in the wrestling business to not foresee this backlash. But perhaps WWE wanted to use the backlash to put Reigns over as the lesser of two evils for the future when they shaft Bryan.

Batista was used as a scapegoat. WWE sacrificed their biggest mainstream star (bar The Rock) because they thought his movie would bomb, (hah HHH) not knowing Marvel films always do well (because common business sense has escaped them) for the sake of Reigns because he's pretty.....:lel

Ha ha fucking ha WWE. Good decision retards.

:heston

I don't think they intentionally sabotaged him. They were just really out of touch. What really makes it pathetic is the fact that they had Batista back in October. This means they knew pretty much who was winning the Royal Rumble at that stage. They then rushed the unification of the Championships, screwed over Bryan who was red hot, all just to build to Batista/Orton. It was just a terrible screw up and they spent months pissing off fans without any intention of a pay off.

If they were smart, then Bryan would have regained the title in October. He would've gone onto beat Big Show, another of The Authority's stooge, at Survivor Series, end his issues with Orton at TLC in a last match, and defeat someone else at the Royal Rumble. Around January, it would seem The Authority doesn't know what to do and this storyline is seemingly put in the background.

The unification hasn't happened at this stage.

Batista returns and wins the Royal Rumble. He then inserts himself into the Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship on the night of the PPV and becomes champion. The next night on Raw, he announces his intention to challenge for the WWE Championship using his Royal Rumble shot and unify the titles at Wrestlemania. Then Batista turns on Bryan and joins The Authority. You learn that The Authority brought him back to end Bryan, and they only want one World Champion and one face for the WWE, that's Batista.

That's your main event set-up.

The unification of the titles with the greatest World Heavyweight Champion WWE has had, Batista, challenging the hottest WWE superstar, Bryan, who is the reigning WWE Champion. At the same time, it's the final clash between The Authority and Daniel Bryan. It all happens at Wrestlemania.

Batista wasn't sabotaged, he failed because he came back at the wrong time; if he had returned the year prior or this year (or if Bryan had won the Rumble or some shit) he wouldn't have been as hated as he was.

Ah the old secret genius fallacy. Yeah it's a comforting theory but regular old incompetence is nearly always the reality.

Think about it, if they could be so masterful in their booking and character progression here then why would they be so certifiably godawful the rest of the time?

Maybe the WWE is just grossly incompetent and they screwed up because they can't book returns and special events to get themselves out of a wet rice paper bag...

No, Batista sabotaged Batista :vince5

Nope, they're not smart enough to do so. It's just another example of those in power being out of touch with reality.
