You know, when I sit back and reflect on what the WWE has given us in the last several years, I realize that there are a lot of things that go unappreciated. You constantly hear people complain about creative stifling talent, part timers taking away the spotlight, CENAWINSLOL, etc.. And while I'll admit that there are a lot of issues that plague the current product, it still amazes me to see all the good that we've had, especially when it comes to creative gimmicks that the PG Era has produced. So, i think it's time that we all discuss what it is we like about our favorite gimmicks that have come about since 2008. And just to specify, although gimmicks like "The Deadman" and "The Cerebral Assassin" have certainly been ingrained in the current product, bare in mind that I'm talking about gimmicks that were created during this specific time frame, a time frame where creative ingenuity can go unrecognized. Now, obviously, I can't name every single gimmick that's ever existed in the last 6 years in a mere 20 option poll so that's where the "Other" option comes in.
Yeah, I totally forgot about that one! Silly me! Funny how Dallas got over just because of his gimmick? Remember that EVERYONE used to hate him just like 8 months ago? That gimmick is gold! And to tell the truth, I'd be the first one that want to play it! It's just awesome!
How could I forget Conspiracy Truth? Great gimmick. Shame he didn't hold championship gold during that run. I loved it when he came out dressed in Confederate garb.
I would put BNB second probably after Bo. Sandow and Fandango's gimmicks would also be in my top 5 though, and they are also conspicuous in their absence from the list.
lol Bray Wyatt. Great character for a two hour movie or something, but as one I have to see every week and will continue to have to see every week from here on out? No. I'm already slowly getting bored and starting to lose interest in him, and it's not all entirely down to his recent shitty booking starting back at Wrestlemania either.
I don't know what I would call the best, but Bad News Barrett is pretty damn entertaining. Bo Dallas is starting to grow on me as well. Punk's SES stuff was pretty good, too. There really isn't one particular personality in the past six years or so that stands out as so much better than the rest imo.
I voted for the Wyatt Family, but I'd also give and honourable mention to "The Intellectual Saviour of the Masses" Damien Sandow. I thought that was a great gimmick he played perfectly. Shame they scrapped it.
Straight Edge Punk. Great gimmick and it really put Punk on the map. I think they could have done even more with it, but he still had a great run with it, at least until halted his momentum for awhile.
