Why is "bitch" allowed?

Stephanie McMahon seems to be using it a lot and of course Brie used it to insult Stephanie which they replayed like a thousand times. So why is "bitch" allowed, but words like fuck and ass gets beeped?

I think it's kinda like the rule in PG-13 movies where they get away with saying 'shit' or 'fuck' once in the film. Bitch is the tamest curse word behind damn and it exists in a lot of programming. My guess is as long as they put 'L' for language when they know for a fact 'bitch' will be in the script, then they'll let it slide that time. I think that's why unscripted 'bitches' are censored.

'Ass' doesn't get bleeped, and it is said pretty much every other week now. Jericho even said something about kicking Wyatt's ass last raw and it was uncensored. Bitch isn't as "bad" of a curse word as shit or fuck, so it's used a lot more liberally on television, however you wont find any primetime show saying the word 'fuck' unbleeped or uncensored.

It's weird, is it not?

FUnny enough, I'm watching SSeries 98 now and Sable says "pissed off" and that's bleeped out. That's less offensive than bitch imo.

I always found it hilarious when WWF would censor the word "asshole" - they wouldn't bleep the whole word, they wouldn't bleep the 'ass' part, they bleeped the 'hole' part! I understood their backwards reasoning as well - an ass is a mule, even if you're talking about kicking it (you might be threatening to attack their donkey..), but "asshole"? Well there's no room for equivocacy there.

For those who don't understand why/how some words are considered profane: every language needs profane language, otherwise we couldn't express certain harsh feelings. You could equally ponder "how can a word be impolite/unfriendly/rude? It's, like, just a sound man" but this is the function of language - if you met somebody you had profound respect for, you'd need a way of expressing humility and reverence; likewise you need a way of being rude otherwise your language doesn't work.

Nobody actually truly lives the "words are just words" nonsense - if we explode with anger or frustration, we use different language to when we're calm: I've yet to hear somebody step on an upturned plug and yell "AW SHUCKS".
