Re: Wrestler going off-script
Mr. Kennedy was supposed to win the briefcase, he dropped it to Edge later because of an injury.
Verbally, it's heavily discouraged to go off the script, supposedly only Cena is allowed to get away with it usually. There have been accidental changes in the ways matches played out or concluded.
Crash Holly was supposed to retain the Hardcore title in the 15 minute battle royale at Wrestlemania 2000, but that was screwed up when Hardcore Holly was given a victory just seconds before the timer went out, so there was no way for Crash Holly to reclaim it lol.
Rey Mysterio was always the intended victor at Summerslam 2005 as far as we know, but the ending was also messed up when Vickie Guerrero missed her cue, she was supposedly supposed to interfere and cause Eddie to lose. I believe we mostly only know about that because of Eddie's angry outburst after awkwardly dangling from the briefcase for quite a long time. "GOD DAMMIT, WHERE THE FUCK WAS VICKIE!? GOD DAMMIT, YOU STUPID MOTHER FUCKER!" lol
At Summerslam 2010 the finish was as it was scripted, but John Cena wanted to go all Super Cena after being DDT into a concrete floor, Edge and Chris Jericho told him not to do it, but he did it anyway. Cena allegedly later admitted he was wrong to have done it.
Bret Hart was in a ordinary midcard match against Dino Bravo in the 90s, he ended up with a cracked sternum midway through the match and couldn't do jack shit. Apparently Dino Bravo wasn't the smartest tool in the shed and kept on going without realizing Bret was hurt, and ended up awkwardly maneuvering him through the ring until finally letting Bret just get counted out.
In the 2005 Royal Rumble, Vince McMahon blew his quads while storming into the middle of the ring. Everything still played out as it was intended, but there was a hilarious pause where everybody is just standing there not sure what to do.
Similarly, in 2010 during a segment with Triple H and Shawn Michaels, John Cena was supposed to interrupt them, but ended up being late, for one reason or another, the two of them couldn't seem to improvise so they kind of just stood there for a while doing nothing.
In 2007 Mark Henry was supposed to interfere in a multi-man steel cage match by storming to the ring and ripping off a chain and ripping off the door. It would seem the chain and door were both supposed to be rigged to break off easily, but somebody obviously screwed up and the chain was quite solid. Mark Henry struggled getting the chain off for several minutes before just deciding to literally rip it off for real, was actually pretty damn impressive. Meanwhile everybody but Batista was just laying on the floor the entire time because Mark was supposed to get through the door in seconds as opposed to minutes.
Just a few examples of shit going wrong with hilarious results.
