On Facebook yesterday, Mick Foley linked to part 2 of his Global Force Wrestling video blog and wrote the following:
"The first part got some great feedback, and I think this one will too. As long as we live in a world where Dolph Ziggler can't get a push, there need to be options for aspiring wrestlers."
Foley later wrote a follow-up on Twitter:
"The purpose of my post. I'm not to suggest that @HeelZiggler join @GFWWrestling - just using him as an example of how subjective @WWE decisions can be. I do agree that #DolphZiggler is a terrible ring name. A couple years ago, I sent a very detailed e-mail to the powers that be with a suggestion of how he could get out of the name, and simultaneously garner some mainstream media attention...but never heard back from those in charge
I've got no problem with Ziggler's name. Hell, I don't even have anything against his gimmick. He had the exact same name and gimmick a year ago and he was one of the most over wrestlers in the company.
In any case just another instance of a former WWE employee saying that Ziggler deserves a push. Sadly his position on the card remains the same.
Honestly though, when he first came to WWE I just laughed at his name and gimmick and I still do. However back then, he was getting some crowd reactions, nowadays he doesn't even get that.
Let Ziggler die....bury him and send him off to GFW or whatever
Surely it's too late on in his career to change his ring name though? I had never thought about it at all before but now it has been mentioned Dolph Ziggler isn't the best of names.
It's not even like he can drop the Dolph and just become Ziggler like Cesaro did, Ziggler sounds pathetic.
And to think the guy's real name is Nick Nemeth. That's a freaking awesome name! It's like a stylish supervillain or something. I know they don't want to use names they don't own but for quite a while I didn't even want to buy into Ziggler's act because of how much the name irritated me.
Reminds me of indy wrestler Mike Quackenbush - I vowed never to verbally speak that name or to become a fan because gah it just sounded so stupid to me but at least that was the intention with him!
Nemeth reminds a lot of people of Billy Gunn. Well Bill Gunn is someone with a kickarse stage name and a weird, awkward sounding real name (Kip Sopp) while Ziggler is the opposite! What were their other choices? Ziff Philpott? Fingus Liptoid?

Dolph Ziggler is a pretty bad name cause it's generic. Then again, WWE has run out of creative names (IE: Daniel Bryan, Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt). Most WWE wrestlers I could see their names appear in every day life. Gone are the days of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and The Ultimate Warrior type names. it's actually really sad.
I have thought that for so long. His name is terrible. It puts a ceiling on his success for sure. It is too late for a change now though, as he's probably halfway through his career.
I have no issues with his name although I think the lack of push for him is pretty much on him. He spoke up when speaking up isn't received well. You have to be either a Yes man or you have to sell a shit ton of merchandise. He deserves a better fate and so does Sandow but we'll see how things evolve.
They should have called him by his real name - Nic Nemeth and had his amateur wrestlign background and had him dye his hair back to its original colour.
I like Foley because it tells it as it is and doesn't suck up to the powers that be, it's just a pity that they take no notice of him.
Ziggler really is a weird one. He seems to get a pop wherever he is. He's not bad at anything really, is he? Plus he has a brilliant physique that Vince surely creams over and was an amateur wrestler.
I'm perfectly fine with Ziggler's name. He's had it for years and even if he goes to another company he'll never shake it off. Meh, I wouldn't mind seeing him pushed but there are other names higher up the totem pole I think deserve it more.
To be fair, Dolph Ziggler is a terrible name. First 3 or so years of him using the name I hated it. I kind of just got use to it, really. He does need a push, though, Ziggler is one of the best on the roster.
cry about Ziggler's name all you guys want, but he was over fine with the crowd a year ago. the name is hardly the problem. also dudes have recovered from getting berried before. if Ziggler doesn't then he didn't have it in him.
They probably put his ass on spam filter. And it's not a bad thing, you can't allow these pathetic and desperate IWC mark representatives to bully the WWE machine. If they listen to Foley now, he will make this regular thing and maybe other has-beens would follow this tool as well.
