So everybody knows that appearances and contracts are done well in advance of when they're slated to happen. At the same time, swerves like Undertaker's Streak Ending are also done in advance. So imagine the laughter in Triple H/Steph/Vince's office when Sting calls up wondering about the possibility of doing WM with Taker after Brock. Now, keep in mind if you tell the Stinger that the streak is ending, it'll be on the dirtsheets and in the WWE 'verse at light speed. Keeping that secret is more important than all else.
So, let me get this straight. For the past month or two they've had to troll Sting with a possible Streak Match(more than likely Sting's retirement), complete with full-on negotiations with reps and a rumored Raw-After-Mania appearance. All while doing this, it keeps the dirtsheets and the office abuzz with the eminent return of Sting.
I thought Sting would never have a personal WM moment. But sitting there, watching the Taker/Lesnar Match, knowing he was getting setup to be next in the queue for the streak... and then.. BOOM the 3 count. I don't think anybody in the world had quite the same WM moment as he had when the streak ended.
Even more so with the RAW today, I really don't see where they fit in a 55-year old wrestler into the current show. He'd stick out of place like a sore thumb, at least as a wrestler. They've just influxed new talent from NXT(Rusev and Paige debut, Emma is a mainstay, and teasing more like Bo and Adam), and WM itself was built around a changing of the guard.
It would be like Barry Bonds showing up to play baseball again and finding out the Senior Circuit had been discontinued and having to take his bat and go home.
And I'm sure they'll find a place for him if he wants one.. but as Al Simmons would say.. DAMN!
It's crazy..the Observer i think even mentioned they were pretty sure Sting was a lock...every major site pretty much followed thru with the same idea that Sting was also signing or signed.
Even Sting "Trolled" fans at New Orleans recently..
Overall...i figured it was too good to be true, but if there was any chance...i mean any of him being in the WWE..this would have been it.
Now, it's over. And it won't happen. Oh well...Thank you Sting anyways.
In all honesty if Sting has a run in the WWE it should be Surfer Sting.... Debut at SummerSlam win the IC Title at some point. then feud with Kane and retire at WM31.
Maybe Undertaker was supposed to have a segment with Sting tonight and they couldn't do it with Taker in the hospital last night. Maybe Taker wanted to rest and didn't want to have an appearance. I know lot of people were expecting him to return tonight but maybe they'll save it for another time. And maybe that's why they didn't debut him because we kind of expected it. They might save it for another time and totally surprise us. The "31 is my new favorite number" speech might mean something. Or he's trolling all of us.
Maybe WWE saw that, as usual, the dirt sheets have gone out and spoiled their big surprise so they changed their plans. They've done it plenty of times before.
At this point, Sting's "debut" rumors are as interesting and believable as CM Punk's "return" rumors.
And I never really bought it anyway. If, and that's a big IF, he's signed or does sign then it will be for a DVD and a HOF Induction next year. No more or less.
It's a perfect set up, Sting shouldn't have shown up on RAW last night...yah really want a 1 year in advance build for WM?(Rock/Cena)
Any who now that the streak's over if Sting Vs. Taker happens it's less predictable now with no streak intact and both of them can have a final and farewell match at WrestleMania.
If Sting ain't there next year well then I am officially done with the BS rumors to him going to WWE.

There is only one match with Taker happening at WM31(if he's healthy).. and that's Taker's retirement rematch against Lesnar. He'll lose that one too.
And also remember that nobody under 20 knows wth Sting even is. He's just an old guy in clown makeup to the current generation of kids. He would have to be introduced and setup and beat up Daniel Bryan a bit before people would know who he was.
Literally, the only place he works is coming in as a replacement for a member of Hunter's faction. Its either that, or join Punk on the bench waiting for a spot to open.
Although he didn't show up I still believe Sting has signed and won't let it go until either Taker appears next week or whenever he is ready. Even before WrestleMania next year. After that I will let it go but even if he doesn't wrestle, I believe he's signed some sort of deal, maybe a DVD deal and some merch.
Still don't think Sting would troll people with that "31 is my new favourite number" quote. I think there is truth to it, I wouldn't out Sting down as a troll so I still have a glimmer of hope.
Regardless of what part he plays. He deserves a HOF spot and a DVD at the least. The state of both him and taker, I'd prefer that match to be the greatest dream match never to happen.
The streak ending increases the prospect of Sting v Taker at WM31 tenfold. It'll actually be an interesting contest without the inevitability of the streak in the way.
Most people on this message board couldn't book a wrestling promotion with long term thinking if their fucking lives depended on it.
Agreed. Been hearing rumors Sting has signed with the WWE for at least a decade now. I've not seen any indication from Sting that he has any interest in signing with the WWE nor has there been a hint of evidence that it's true in all this time. This is a "I'll believe it when I see it" situation. Otherwise, it's just people dreaming.
Do people still believe Undertaker can keep going until Wrestlemania 32? He can't. It was obvious before Brock gave him a SEVERE concussion from a single leg take down.
he should have come over during the invasion instead of sitting on his contract like a lot of the big stars, then he should have come in right after, so on and so forth, his excuse was the rock talking to booker t the same way the rock talks to every single wrestler on the roster and booker t at that time wasnt on the same lvl as sting. he blames the way guys like stiener when he had a terrible match after being sent right to the main event when he got there, whined about goldberg who beat the rock on his first match. vince wanted sting and prolly would have paid huge money for him. then all the dvds and blu rays over the yrs. hell he would have a better schedule than he had in tna i mean taker basically worked 10 days a yr for the last 6 yrs, sting being older and a connection to a different fan base would have gotten the same or better. SO if he really wanted to work with anyone in wwe and just didnt want to deal with vince. then its all on him and him alone
Undertaker's streak being beaten means nothing for a match with Sting. Sting's open to wrestling Taker because he's Taker--not become of the streak. Also is makes it more believable that Sting could realistically win. Makes the match more suspenseful and exciting.
Sting's easily the biggest wrestler to never compete in the WWE, and Undertaker is arguably the best competitor in WWE history. It's a no-brainer main event....with or without Taker's streak.
HOW DO PEOPLE KEEP SAYING STING/TAKER WOULD BE PREDICTABLE??? BROCK LESNAR BEAT TAKER. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
