According to Wade Keller, of PWTorch, in his new Front Page Article # 13 Yesterday:
Cena is scheduled to face Bray Wyatt at WM30 for several reasons, one being that physically he is starting to feel the mileage add up and WWE really wants to be identified as an ensemble and not have Cena become synonymous with the WWE and WrestleMania brands since Cena’s years as the centerpiece full-time reliable workhorse are coming to an end sooner than later. Add to it Undertaker’s in-ring days are coming to an end soon. Moving Cena to a spot where he can give a rub to a future top heel along with giving someone else the final match slot is win-win in their eyes...

I think it's good they realize the man is not 25 years old anymore. If they continue to work Cena at the pace they have in years past, he will be dead by the age of 60.
Dear god one can only hope. Living through Cena's decade of same old shit is much like Andy Dufresne crawling through the tunnel of shit to escape Shawshank. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel.

Except soon you'll be saying the same about Cesaro, Langston or Reigns.
The real problem is relying on one guy to carry a company.
We complain about Cena but we should be thankful he was a company guy and didn't have a dick personality like HHH, Hogan, Nash, HBK, who used their company positions to influence booking decisions. The past decade would have been 10x worse because Cena was a bigger star than all of those guys except Hogan and WWE would have no choice but to comply.
Re: Backstage Reasoning Behind Why John Cena Is Not Headlining WM XXX & Facing Bray W
the john cena rub: bray gets in some offense, gets to kick out of a few pin attempts, only to hit sister Abigail, (the finisher that pinned Daniel bryan) only for cena to be the first to kick out and then pin wyatt with a five knuckle shuffle.
the cena rub instantly catapults bray back to midcard.
Re: Backstage Reasoning Behind Why John Cena Is Not Headlining WM XXX & Facing Bray W
I was just thinking about this yesterday, Cena doesn't seem to be the entire focus of the show anymore. It made me realise that WWE themselves have probably (finally) realised Cena's time as the top full time star may be coming to an end.
Re: Backstage Reasoning Behind Why John Cena Is Not Headlining WM XXX & Facing Bray W
This is the first bit of light from a horrific 7 days in the wrestling world :lol
Saying that though, it's silly to suddenly think this when you decided he needed some 'big' moment last year against Rock which he didn't and now after years of putting him above everyone, lowering too quick is just going to make the show feel less 'special'
Taker/Cena should have headlined this years event.
Re: Backstage Reasoning Behind Why John Cena Is Not Headlining WM XXX & Facing Bray W
He's gonna win and Bray will drop down the card, to some extent, after the feud. It's just another redemption storyline for Mr. Cena and Bray is this year's heel lucky enough to job to him.
Re: Backstage Reasoning Behind Why John Cena Is Not Headlining WM XXX & Facing Bray W
I get what they're saying here and it makes total sense, but, uh...so they don't want him to headline Wrestlemania because they don't see as much longevity in him and want the younger talent to be recognized, yet a 45 year old and a man only a couple years younger than him are those most likely to headline Wrestlemania this year? What the frig, WWE. They should keep this mindset across the board for all talent and aspects of the company, it shouldn't be just applicable to Cena.

I know it's popular to hate Batista but Batista in the main event is way fresher than John cena and having a role in a major marvel movie makes this even sweeter for the wwe. What really doesn't make any sense is randy orton , why orton vs. Batista instead of Bryan vs. Batista or even Lesnar vs. Batista .

Took long enough for someone to identify that this story reeks of being 100% bullshit.
Still think Undertaker vs Cena should happen now, not later. Only other opponent undertaker maybe has to face, is Sting. That's it, then let him retire.
Probably because the WWE wants to do more with him as midcard heel and by the time he makes it bigger and to the main event, I'm 99% sure he'll be a babyface, which would make it kinda difficult for him to have a decent feud with Cena.
Re: Backstage Reasoning Behind Why John Cena Is Not Headlining WM XXX & Facing Bray W
Honestly I think it's getting too late for Cena-Taker. Cena's star is falling and he probably won't be the top face by next year. Cena/Taker at WM 31 just won't be as big in my opinion.
Re: Backstage Reasoning Behind Why John Cena Is Not Headlining WM XXX & Facing Bray W
IMO John Cena is going to be retiring sooner then we think. Cena might have the mental drive to do this for years but his body doesn't. IMO unless cena starts taking long periods of time off he is going to be forced to retire just like Austin & Edge. I see cena being full time for at least 2 more years. After that he will either be part time, or he will be done.
As regarding to Cena vs Taker. It should be happening this year but if they are waiting for Takers last match then Ill be fine with that. As long as it happens. I will not be happy with Cena or Undertaker retiring unless they face each other at a WM. Thats the only match left between those 2 I want to see
Re: Backstage Reasoning Behind Why John Cena Is Not Headlining WM XXX & Facing Bray W
cena is 36 so anybody thinking his career is winding down is beyond delusional. ric flair was 36 in 1985, hogan was 36 in 1989, sting was just 3 months shy of his 39th birthday when he climbed into the ring at starrcade 97.

This.
I wouldn't even be surprised if it came out a source in the WWE gave them this bullshit story legit just to take away some of the ugly attention they have on them at the moment due to current events.
Cena will be late 50's before he wraps it in. Yes I could see a break assuming Nikki gets her way and gets up the duff but he's THE company man, he's not retiring anytime soon.

Cena needs to work less...pull an undertaker schedule lol
