No, no one is stupid for believing this, because last year and so far this year Lebron has put on a display of dominance that we have never seen any man put on since the Wilt Chamberlin days. You can certainly argue that Lebron's better (at least at this point in his career in comparison to Magic at his prime, I don't necessarily think it's true, but it's arguable and doesn't make you stupid by any means).
Ok, Walking Dead is gone off, I will go back to this:
This is seriously off topic, but I will say this. Different eras, but Magic played in a FAR tougher NBA. LeBron really and truly gets babied, and shoved down the publics throat. Compare the players, but dont just use stats, you HAVE to compare Legacy. leBron physically is a freak, but he isnt the be all end all, he is guardable, and he CANT play any position. Magic could.
But since you brought it up, look at where they are in their careers and parallel them:
Magic came into the NBA around the same age, despite that he went to college and won a national title, not just won it, but was key to it. Also becomming one of the only players in league history to win an NCAA and an NBA in consecutive years.
-Magic won an NBA title in his rookie year, and he wasnt only a key member there, he was the MVP, a ROOKIE NBA Finals MVP, only one in history, and he was around 20 years old. What was LeBron doing then? just putting up 25 ppg, thats it, he wasnt the force he is today because he couldnt play defense for shit.
-Magic went to FIVE NBA finals in his first 6 years in the league. Then 7 out of 9, then 9 out of 11, and 10 total in his 12 years in the league. Do you understand that at all? Magic Johnson, played for an NBA title in TEN out his entire 12 years in the league. Imagine anyone doing that today.
-5 NBA Titles, and the ones he lost were game changers, in that it revolutionized the NBA, Lakers-Celtics is the reason everyone under the age of 30, is watching the NBA today. Without the exposure that Magic-Larry brought, there wouldnt be a Jordan and so on and so on.
-Legacy as a clutch player, LeBron isnt even the best in the league at this today, let alone near Magic. Magic also got his 3 regular season MVP awards, and he got them against Bird, Hakeem, Jordan, Kareem, Ewing, Malone, Barkley, etc. LeBron is the Peyton Manning of the NBA in the sense that every year the AP decides "OK, unless someone has a substantial year, just give the MVP to Manning." NBA does it with LeBron.
-Remember the Nike Puppet Kobe and leBron commercials? when lil Dez would say "LeBron you got so many triple doubles can I have one?" Yeah:
Magic - 905 Games - 138 Triple Doubles
LeBron - Already at 765 games, 30 triple doubles.
-Magic is an NCAA champion, 3 times Finals MVP, a 3 time League MVP, a 5 time NBA champion, 10 Finals appearances in 12 years, All time assist per game leader, a legacy that rivals Jordans.
-LeBron is a 2 time finals MVP, 4 time league MVP, 2 time champ, 4 finals appearances in 10 years, and climbing.
See, you cant compare eras, but you CAN compare stages in careers, your argument said that based on one year it can be argued that LeBron is in Magics league, if not better. By my argument, LeBron HAS to win the next 2 championships to even be considered. And in the next 140 games, he needs a triple double in 100 of them, since he fancies himself more of a game manager than a scorer now.
Again, get the fuck out of here with LeBron is better than Magic shit. You have my numbers, now tell me, HOW is he better? How can even be argued?
