Official History Forum Draft Sign-Up/Discussion Thread #2

The Official History Wrestling Draft is back for round 2! As the reigning champ, I am now hosting and not competing this time round (gives the rest of you a chance ) Most of the players from the previous draft are returning, plus we already have a few new faces. But there are still a few spots open! I’m looking for 20 players and thus there are 4 remaining spots. Though if there's a high demand, I'll allow more players in. Here are the rules, if you like the idea feel free to sign up!

Draft Rules:

The whole point of the game is to draft a roster of wrestlers to build a matchcard around. Once everyone has completed their card, I will pit players cards against each other and the Forum will vote on who advances to the next round. The winners of their matches get to take a wrestler from the losers roster while dropping one of their own they no longer have use for.

Obviously, once a wrestler is chosen in the draft they can no longer be picked up. For example, if someone picks Mick Foley, that means they have picked Mankind, Cactus Jack etc. They can use any incarnation of him they want. Also, if you pick Ric Flair for example, it is assumed you are picking him in his prime unless you state otherwise.

Each draft round will be randomized by me. They will be randomized in advance three rounds at a time, so there will be no waiting around. I will post each draft round order in the OP of the draft thread when I start that up. Everything will be easy to navigate so don’t worry.

After asking around, the majority decision was to lower the time between picks. You have a maximum of 8 hours to make your pick. If 8 hours passes and you have not made your pick, the next person can make theirs and you can make yours when you return. If you think you will not be around for your pick, PM me your next choice and some backups and I can make the pick for you. Also, if someone is comes online and it’s their turn and they fail to make their pick within one hour, then the next person can jump ahead of them. So remember to check the draft when you come online.

Anyone who has ever wrestled a match in any federation is eligible.

Tag teams do not count as one pick. If you want The Prime Time Players, then Titus O’Neil and Darren Young have to be chosen as separate picks.

There are 18 rounds. You do not have to pick a manager/valet, but can if you want to.

Trades are allowed, and don’t have to be one-for-one. For example, someone can give up five wrestlers for one if they want to. They must still have at least 6 matches on their matchcard though, no matter the size of their roster. Trades can be made at any time. If two players complete a trade, please PM me the details and I will announce it and make changes to the rosters.

For any returning players, you are not allowed to draft anyone in the first or second rounds that you drafted in the previous game. This is to ensure that everyone’s rosters are different from their previous one and should add freshness to the new draft.

Matchcard Rules:

Your card must contain at least 6 matches.

Only a maximum of three gimmick matches allowed per card (Note – tag team, triple threat, fatal four-way etc do not count as gimmicks.)

Each wrestler can only be involved in one match on your card.

When your card is complete, PM it to me and I will set you up in a match against another player.

You don’t have to write storylines/build up for your card, but you are very welcome to.

------------------------------------------------------

At the moment there are four definite spots available. However, since the popularity of the draft seems to be growing, if the demand is there I will allow more players in and lower the amount of draft rounds slightly. If you do want to sign up, please be aware that this game depends on all the players being active on the forum on a pretty regular basis. You don’t have to live on here or anything, but if someone signs up and then disappears it could derail the whole draft. Everyone in the previous draft had a lot of fun though, and almost everyone has returned for this one. So come and join!

These people have already signed up:

ABH do you think we should make a rule for the card, like I remember seeing someone having just put down the matches E.G lesnar vs benoit throughout his card but his opponent wrote out a description for each match and I couldn't help but feel that that helped him in the voting process?

I would encourage players to write at least a small description since I feel that allows them to give voters reasons why they put two particular stars together. For example, I had Tajiri vs Super Crazy as one of my opening matches in the previous draft. A lot of people probably didn't know about their epic ECW rivalry, but my description alluded to that and may have made the match more enticing to them. However, if someone doesn't want to write a description they don't have to.

Yup, I PM'd him earlier but he hasn't been on since yesterday. He'll see my PM once he comes online and probably come and sign up.

Re: Official History Forum Draft Sign-Up/Discussion Thread #2

This sounds exciting and seems fairly straightforward. Is there an old thread I could look at to further get a feel for this game?

Yes. This is the previous draft sign-up/discussion thread - http://www.wrestlingforum.com/games-...up-thread.html

This is the draft thread for picks only. I will post the new one of these once all the players are finalized - http://www.wrestlingforum.com/games-...ions-here.html

And here is the final match, where I managed to win and thus got the opportunity to host this draft - http://www.wrestlingforum.com/games-...ntyhunter.html
