Re: Tell The Truth
Forgot about the Firm, pretty good. Not seen I.D .
Yeah Hanoi hearing Fields of Athenry live in person by thousands of Irish was a pretty special feeling. Made my testes tingle. Welsh Anthem was pretty stirring as well, no bastard Opera singer trying to drown out the crowd was a massive plus.

Don't bother with Green Street. Laughably over the top and pretty piss poor outside of the final fight. If you want to watch a film that tackles hooliganism, either Rise of the Footsoldier (which tbf covers a lot more but hooliganism is touched upon) or Football Factory. Football Factory is more comical and thus easier to watch as it doesn't present itself as seriousy. Stuff like them being chased out of a club by rival fans, attacking other hooligans they recognise at a motorway services and two rival hooligans fighting at a kids match because they taunt each other all game. Not too serious, rather funny and thus is much easier to take in.
Yeah Rugby is a violent and tough sport yet with a relaxed and passionate atmosphere with very few hints of trouble whilst Football is far softer but the derbies and general rivalry makes for a more foul and tense atmosphere. Like I said I love the varying atmosphere you get in both sports, especially football when you're being abused all game, crapping yourself you're going to lose to your most hated rivals and be laughed out of the ground only to get a late winner and just explode with relief and jubilance.

Now I have a real reason to be envious of you. Should have used the sorrow of the game to be your ticket into a conversation.
I've seen it before. So, I've gotten my fill for at least one time. Funny you mention Football Factory. That often gets thrown around as a lesser version of Green Street b/c it isn't as serious. Should that really matter? I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Don't know/hear of many loving that type. More often than not my pale appeal doesn't seem to be reciprocated so I wouldn't say it's any "new" or "big" thing.

Re: Tell The Truth
On this subject of national anthems, old whatshisname in the kilt singing Flower of Scotland at Hampden is fucking awesome. Being there in person, that shit just rallies every soulless cunt in the stadium. The Italy game during the qualifiers for...shit, might've been the '08 Euros, was unreal.

Re: Tell The Truth
tbh these days youre probably more likely to see smokin hot polish and brazilian girls than freckley types around here, which suits my tastes nicely.
@woolcock - fields of athenry when we were getting slaughtered by the spanish in the euros was probably my most moving sports moment last year, that and hearing it between rounds when Katie Taylor was BOSSING shit in the olympics.

Tbh hooliganism over here has petered out aside from the odd scrap, especially in and around grounds and in the public eye. The amount of times the media report on some violence and the worst thing is a bottle being lobbed astounds me. They jump on any bit of shoving and hassle with stewards/police as a sign the 70s and 80s are returning. Pretty hysterical.
Therefore I prefer something like Football Factory that's more satire and tongue in cheek than Gree Street which tried to be serious. Between Elijah Wood being presented as an enforcer who could take on the best of 'em and 5 guys being some sort of reputable firm I just tuned out and found it unintentionally comical. Not to mention how thick the sister is taking her child to a fucking firm battle. Bah.
Jake Moon from Eastenders having a cameo as the Barman was pretty hilarious though. Especially when he just smacks the shit out of someone with a fire extinguisher.

I recall those renditions. Hair raising stuff tbfranksinatra. Only time I've generally been exposed to it is Liverpool's altered version of 'Fields of Anfield Road'. Lets just say I prefer the way the Irish sing it .
The Olympics in particular was truly special. Ireland vs Croatia was a great game in the Euros. Both passionate fans but for completely different reasons. There's the Irish pissed out of their heads singing their hearts out and opposite them is the flare wielding, bare chested skinheads of Croatia. Hell of a game.
The rendition of Land of My Fathers to rally Wales deep in the second half last week was pretty exceptional as well.

It definitely is a thing. Now, at least. Might not always have been, but it is now. I wouldn't be surprised if Hayley Williams has something to do with it, actually. Most people that go gaga for the pale red-headed woman see her as a demigoddess.
Nothing wrong with pale redheads, of course. I work with a redhead that is pretty gorgeous (she's also a swimmer! Oh fuck, maybe I have a thing for chicks that SWIM!), but the pale skin and the freckles and the red hair aren't the kind of things that I'll always dig about a woman, you know?
Although:
"I don't care how many girls you've dated, man
You ain't lived 'til you've had your tyres rotated by a red headed-woman"

I got yelled at at work (well my boss had to set me aside and talk to me) for getting pissed off at the end of the day on Monday. I was ready to blow up by the end of the day. One of those shit days where everything is fucked, and everybody sucks. and you don't really know why but you wanna justify ripping someones head off.
And yeah I just quoted Limp Bizkit. Blow me.

Re: Tell The Truth
We've all had those days McQueen. I don't generally care for Limp Bizkit in general, but 'My Way' still makes rattles my testes when I hear it and immediately think of watching Wrestlemania 17 as an impressionable pre-teen and hearing that in the video package for Rock/Austin.
rush thoughts on the possibility of Leonard now having a crooked jaw to match his crooked wang?
