The August 2010 and May 2011 Mcintyre matches on Superstars are honestly as good as anything WWE put on TV in both years and are legit awesome matches. There's also one of Ziggler's best matches from 2010 built around The Masterlock vs The Sleeper and its amazing how such simple moves are built to as well as they are when you consider how wrestling has altered in terms of offence over the years.

I've checked out some of his matches on superstars, after reading your insightful paragraph. You're correct. His run on Superstars was pretty impressive as a baby-face. Watching some of the Masters/McIntyre matches, you recognize the great chemistry between the two in the ring. Their 2010 match was impressive as the crowd seemed pretty engaged.

Re: Tell The Truth
The 2011 match from May is even better imo. Mcintyre is slightly better in control and channels the transition from frustrated heel desperate for a win into cocky douchebag in control remarkably well (loved his kip up after the dropkick) and Masters sells even better here as well as incorporating the injury into all his offence, such as a beautifully timed one legged samoan drop and a really subtle but wonderful bit of selling when he tries to pull himself onto the top turnbuckle and audibly groans at the stain its putting on his leg. There's also a smart callback to a sub 2 minute match they had on Smackdown in February where Masters won with a variation sit out powerbomb.
Sucks the guy was basically unable to get a push because of his prior wellness violations and being seen as a liability in spite of his reformation inside and outside the ring. To think if he had half the talent he did back in 2005 when the company cared about making him a potential star to being saddled with no chance of moving up the card in spite of outperforming 99% of the roster in 2010-11..just sucks really bad.

Re: Tell The Truth
I had some great times scaring the OW section with my opinion that Masters was comfortably better than Davey when he was just teetering in terms of his popularity slowly sinking person by person. Pretty sure Crabtree in particular really didn't take to it well at all.

Re: Tell The Truth
That guy is kind of a moron though so it doesn't surprise me.
And I used to be BIG on Davey if you can believe it. If I break out the pic circa 2006 - I'll get some laughs.

Re: Tell The Truth
Funny thing is Crabtree has really soured on ROH judging by most posts I stumble across these days. Still, made for some irritating conversations back in the day when he just wouldn't accept I viewed Richards as lacking any substance in comparison to Masters.

Re: Tell The Truth
The egg is on his face then.
I know opinion is the common factor among everything here, but how there are some people who want to deny some things - which are more or less factual - is beyond me. Like someone can enjoy Davey Richards. Why would I care? But, to actually think what he's doing now for the most part is the idea of "perfect" or at least "great" wrestling is just...so far and away off that I'm not sure what they see in anything else. All of the psychology & substance a match could bring. Gone. In a flash, when Davey competes. If that's the route Indie wrestling will take over the next 10 years, well, I'm done. I don't want moves. I want a story. I want something FUN to watch.
