What's funny is Sting is actually legit great from '88-94. Excels opposite Flair as the plucky, hardworking superhero and has unrivalled chemistry with Vader on and off from 92-94. The fucking strap match from Superbrawl III...amazing. Finish is heartbreaking and feels like you've been cheated out of justice, in the best possible way. Great American Bash 1996 vs Regal is also a top 20 match in WCW history. Tremendous Regal showcase but Sting gives him everything and really sells Regal as an unstoppable threat which puts him over ridiculously well.

Never understood why Cena didn't lift a few moves from Sting as he plays a similar heroic babyface to the kids as Sting was prior to his Crow alteration.

Sting was the man once upon a time. It's why I'm a fan. Series vs Vader is one of my favorites.

vs Regal from GAB '96. Hell yes. It gets TIME too. WCW did something right that night. And not just Benoit vs Sullivan which led to Dusty's GOAT reaction. (second to the Bicycle on Saturday Night I'd say)

Agreed. Sullivan/Benoit is brutal and pretty frightening at points. Benoit takes a number of lunatic and near crippling bumps and once you know the history of Benoit legitimately taking Nancy away from Sullivan it gets pretty uneasy to watch. Same with Butch Reed vs Dick Murdoch (awesome match) and their famous brawls, Murdoch being a KKK supporter is a longtime claim in wrestling and whilst its never apparent he let it prejudice his work or take liberties with a black man like Reed, it does add a bit of unease when seeing him stiff punch him square in the jaw.

I never knew that tale about Murdoch before. Almost makes me not want to root for him anymore so such a negative stance. Guess that was a different time he grew up in though. I could choose to look at it like that.

Benoit vs Sullivan was absolutely personal. I got into a conversation with my brother about how you work with someone in a capacity like that. You just do I guess. Or you get booked in a match like how they worked. Simply, and I feel off about using this term, killed each other. Great matches though. Regardless of the real elements behind them, they're always great for a watch.

Only caught the start of the final set, though I kept in touch with the 4th set via text alerts. Murray played well and seems to be maturing with every game now. Time and time again Federer would have walked that final set and capitalised on swinging the momentum but Murray looked assured, calm and played the bigger points much better. Serve was also deliciously consistent in the final set and by all accounts was much the same throughout. Djokovic will almost certainly win with Murray playing far longer, but it'll be a good match and with the way Murray's playing you can't truly count him out.

In fairness by all accounts/talk Murdoch was never one to enforce his beliefs/cause a stir. It was heavily speculated and judging by stories the man was no saint, but its not like Reed had any fear of being taken advantage of by Murdoch. Different era, unsettling to hear but ultimately Murdoch is still a once in a generation talent.

Yeah apparently Benoit stated in interviews Sullivan was professional in not completely endangering Benoit during their violent matches. Still some brutal bumps on his part. Story of his career though.
