Just finished watching Beasts of the Southern Wild. I'll do a proper write up in the Movie thread tomorrow as its late here and it'll be a half arsed effort to give a proper overview tonight. I'll say though I don't think I've seen anything like it before and its certainly left a truly lasting impression on me. The way it combines the magic and surrealism in the eyes of a child compared to how we the viewer as an adult see the community is startling and fuck me is it a hard watch. Some of those scenes were just too hard to try and process.

Watched Half Nelson last night. Gosling performance in this film was amazing, no wonder he was awarded an Oscar nomination. You were right, I was extremely frustrated with Gosling's character throughout most of the film. The young girl was really impressive and thought she added an interesting element to the relationship between her and Gosling. Love the title as its obviously is derived from a wrestling move in which you turn an attacker's strength back on him, which is a metaphor in regards to Dunn's (Gosling) lifestyle. Clever film.

Couldn't get a tomorrowland ticket and now they are abar 3 grand on ebay. FUMING. brows are fit though. spellings are rough.

Great to see you loved Half Nelson. One of Gosling's best outings although I'd put Drive & Blue Valentine ahead of it. His character really is fascinating and is written meticulously to carry the film alongside the pupil he takes an interest in. It is indeed a very smart film and I love the observation you made regarding the title of the film.
