Re: General Fantasy Sports Thread
My main team is off to a good star, 88 points so far, +27 compared to my opponent, I still have Rodgers in-play and A.J. Green & Law Firm to play.

Re: General Fantasy Sports Thread
Ok so in the non-WF league I'm in with my friends, my team got off to a dominating first week.
Had 127 total points, the most coming from Rodgers with 23. A.J. Green was my only starter other than my kicker that didn't give me at least 10 points. But yeah I'm feeling really good about this team, hopefully none of the key players get hurt.

Re: General Fantasy Sports Thread
You have to assume at least a couple miss time. By that time other teams should have guys missing time though so apart from the yearly super unlucky team (there's always at least 1) it should all balance out.

Re: General Fantasy Sports Thread
Not in any leagues this year and I'm glad. Fantasy Football changes the way I watch games. I'm more likely to watch the gamecasts than the actual game on tv. Now I can just enjoy football....well at least as much as I can being a Chargers fan and having Norv Turner as our coach.

I can see your point, and I'm sure many others agree with your view point, however, I'll counter and say I think fantasy games in general make you pay attention more to the league as a whole. Besides Cardinals fans, how many people would know about Ryan Williams and Beanie Wells fighting for the starting job if they weren't playing fantasy. I'm generalizing of course, but I feel it makes me pay attention to more teams besides just The Bears, Bulls, and Red Wings.
There is nothing wrong with not playing any this year though.

Feel like I jinxed my team. Hernandez, Maclin and Bradshaw all go down with injuries, Hernandez & Bradshaw provided me a total of 1 point this past week, my team as a whole scored only 50 points. Went from 1st place to 10th place. Sad life.

Re: General Fantasy Sports Thread
Should I start Wes Welker or Brandon LaFell in my non ppr league? I was leaning towards LaFell with how few looks Welkers been getting, but with Hernandez out, that might change. On the other hand, Lafell is looking good on his own...
Thoughts?

LaFell.
Here's why, while Hernandez will be out, that might actually turn out to be irrelevant for Welker. The Patriots have gone from a 3 WR, 1 RB, 1 TE base offense into a 2 WR, 2 TE, 1 RB offense. What that means is that their playbook that the team learned this year is based off of the new set, not the old. Welker plays in the slot position, or 3rd WR in the old set. In a 2 WR, 2 TE set. Welker becomes a rotational and package player. He is out of place as the outside receiver in a two TE set. Because the TE is out, a new TE will most likely take that spot instead of Welker. Will NE run more 3 WR sets with Hernandez out? Probably, but the slot WR spot will still remain shared by Edlemen and Welker.
LaFell will remain the number two guy in the Panthers offense behind Smith.
Also remember, Fantasy Football for WRs often comes down to who is more likely to score a TD, and I think LaFell will have a better chance because he will be on the field more.

Re: General Fantasy Sports Thread
That makes perfect sense. I also feel more comfortable having the 2nd WR for a team that will get lots of chances, as opposed to someone who has a top QB tossing to him, but might not even start or get chances.
Do you think Hernandez's replacement will get much action?

Re: General Fantasy Sports Thread
Kellen Winslow Jr was signed by the Pats. I guess it all matters how fast he can learn the offense. So it's almost impossible to answer sorry.
Winslow is a decent pickup off waivers if you have a bum rostered still.
