The keeper rules really aren't that hard. For example, Ho Ho, your available keepers right now are:

RB - Willis McGahee
FLEX - Miles Austin
D/ST - Eagles
K - Sebastian Janikowski

BN - Joe Flacco QB
BN - DeAngelo Williams RB
BN - Owen Daniels TE
BN - Brian Quick WR
BN - Mario Manningham WR
BN - Cowboys D/ST
BN - Santana Moss WR

You are not allowed to keep anyone drafted in Rounds 1-5 regardless of whether you drafted them or not. Any player kept is kept 2 rounds before they were drafted the previous year. So Miles Austin would be a 4th round pick in next year's draft if you kept him because you drafted him in the 6th. Any free agent is automatically a 16th round pick or 14th round keeper next year. If you traded for Jay Cutler from me, he's still a 9th round pick and 7th round keeper next year. If you pick up Cutler off free agency, he's a 14th round keeper.

It's because we can keep them for several years. MrMr got RG3 in round 7. That means he'll be his round 5 pick next year and his round 3 pick after that. If it doesn't advance, he would keep RG3 at round 7 for years. The only way to really counter that is to have a limit on the amount of years a player can be kept. A contract so to speak.

if you are keeping 2 players in the same round one advanced a round like aid said. alternatively you can acquire a second pick via trade of some kind.

the 2 round ahead thing is an added twist which I think makes it more interesting...

True, but I don't think the Pats D is nearly as bad as it's made out to be. They were ahead a lot, so other teams had to throw a lot.
