I am aware it's still an overpay. I'm just not crazy about many of the early players. There's still value to be had later on. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's how I see it.

When I want something specific, I don't mind overpaying for it.

If anything, Heyward is the face of the Braves now. No Chipper, no Bourn, and no Glavine. I think he's ready for that. Plus he's getting better.

There are a few of us who are pretty high on Heyward. Is he worth Beltre and a guy that may or may not perform well? We can't know. We can't even know who will be there at 11 in the 6th. The simple answer is no Heyward won't be worth Beltre and whoever is drafted there, but we also can't know who I will get with a later pick and what he may or may not do. If I stumble into a Medlen, things even out.

Heyward is ranked 13th overall in the most recent pre-season rankings.

Heyward is a five tool player. He can do it all. I'd rather have a package of Beltre and somebody like Jordan Zimmerman than Heyward and a lower level pitcher like Marcum, Vogelsong, etc,. That is totally personal preference and I don't have a problem with the trade. Adding Kinsler was a bit much, in my humble opinion, but overall, I can't see the league vetoing this one.

You guys handled the process the right way.

Beltre for any sample we have is better than Heyward. Kinsler was never really a consideration to me because he wasn't going to be kept. That being said, if Aid flipped him for more picks then it just makes the trade worse. If you want to take a loss on a trade then so be it. I don't agree with the trade but I'm just a vote.
