Historic Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Match to determine No. 1 contender to Universal Title

At Extreme Rules, for the first time ever, in a battle that could change the course of the New Era, an Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Match between Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Finn Bálor, Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe to determine who will compete with Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Bálor vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Samoa Joe - Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Universal Title No. 1 Contender’s Match

Who will be the first Superstar to challenge The Beast? This is a question that will be answered in historically chaotic fashion.

Raw General Manager Kurt Angle announced the historic showdown on the May 15 edition of Monday Night Raw, and speculation is already running rampant as to who will emerge victorious and get the chance to tangle with The Beast for Raw’s top prize.

Though Reigns’ unbreakable determination helped him overcome The Undertaker at WrestleMania and put Braun Strowman on the shelf for six months, it remains to be seen whether The Big Dog will be able to simultaneously conquer four of the best Superstars in the business under such extreme circumstances.

In addition to the absolute bedlam that such a showdown promises, Rollins and Samoa Joe will both need to get past the enormous animosity that they have for one another in order to concentrate on the entire field of battle in this epic free-for-all.

Lest we forget that the first Universal Champion, Bálor, was never beaten for his title, but was instead forced to surrender it due to injury and is now hungry for an opportunity to challenge The Beast Incarnate.

And one must never count out Wyatt, arguably one of the most cunning competitors in the contest, who continues to show time and time again why he is The New Face of Fear by thriving in the very mayhem that the Fatal 5-Way Match will unleash.

Who will triumph in the Fatal 5-Way Match and become the first Superstar to attempt to conquer The Conqueror? Find out on June 4 at 8 ET/5 PT, steaming live on WWE Network

Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz (if Ambrose is disqualified, he will lose the Intercontinental Title)

Dean Ambrose retained the Intercontinental Title against The Miz after a disqualification ruling on the May 15 edition of Monday Night Raw. He won’t be so lucky if the same thing happens at Extreme Rules.

Following the controversial conclusion to Raw’s title match, where Ambrose’s overly aggressive style got him disqualified, The Miz successfully petitioned Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to strip Ambrose of one of his advantages as champion in the rematch, meaning The Lunatic Fringe will lose the title if he gets disqualified when he and The A-Lister meet at the upcoming pay-per-view event.

The move represents a culmination of Miz’s tactics and a stark difference in the philosophies of the two multi-time Intercontinental Champions. For Ambrose, who defeated The Awesome One for the title in January and has defended it in a no-frills, old-school manner, it means he’ll have to pick an even more judicious strategy than he usually does when it comes to retaining the coveted championship he has come to love for its lineage. It also means that the intensity that has helped The Lunatic Fringe win many of his biggest matches must be tampered here, or it could end up losing him this one.

For Miz, who claimed to have revitalized the illustrious title after winning it by hook or by crook multiple times over the course of 2016, the stipulation is his latest and most cunning maneuver to dethrone The Lunatic Fringe, who he sees as unworthy of holding the championship that he views as a marker of his own accomplishments. Whether you love or hate that strategy, it’s difficult to argue that it hasn’t worked for The Miz. Nor is it difficult to imagine that it might just end up working again.

Tune in to see if Ambrose can survive Miz’s maneuvering to remain the Intercontinental Champion when WWE Extreme Rules streams live Sunday, June 4, at 8 ET/5 PT only on the award-winning WWE Network.

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley (Kendo Stick on a Pole Match)

The Raw Women’s Championship is about to get taken to the extreme when Alexa Bliss defends her title against Bayley in a Kendo Stick on a Pole Match. The painful showdown will stream live on WWE Network at Extreme Rules.

Since the self-proclaimed “Goddess of WWE” defeated Bayley at WWE Payback, tensions between the two Superstars have grown to perilous levels. This was on full display on the May 15 episode of Raw, when Bliss used a Kendo Stick to teach Bayley a “lesson” in the ways of extreme. The titleholder’s cutting remarks have seemingly gotten under the skin of the usually upbeat Bayley, and her Kendo Stick attack clearly struck the final nerve.

After having The Wicked Witch of WWE verbally question her toughness and physically test her limits with the foreign object, Bayley was adamant that her rematch with Little Miss Bliss at Extreme Rules live up to the event’s moniker. As a result, Raw General Manager Kurt Angle gave Bayley her wish, and she will challenge Bliss in the first-ever female Kendo Stick on a Pole Match.

This extreme showdown not only has the coveted Raw Women’s Title on the line, but the perceived toughness of both competitors at stake. Bliss certainly talks a big game and proved she can swing a Kendo Stick like she’s competing in Home Run Derby, but what happens if Bayley gets ahold of the unforgiving weapon?

As was the case in their previous encounters, the first woman to pick up the pinfall or submission will be the Raw Women’s Champion. However, with a Kendo Stick within reach, Bliss and Bayley will have to go the extreme and back before they can walk out of Baltimore's Royal Farms Arena with the title.

See who prevails in this highly-anticipated Raw Women’s Championship Match on Sunday, June 4 at 8 ET/5 PT, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network

Raw Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz vs. Cesaro & Sheamus - Steel Cage Match

At Extreme Rules, Matt & Jeff Hardy will attempt to withstand the wrath of Cesaro & Sheamus when the two explosive tandems go to war for the Raw Tag Team Titles inside a Steel Cage on WWE’s most extreme night of the year!

Though mutual respect was the name of the game when The Hardy Boyz squared off against Cesaro & Sheamus at WWE Payback, the camaraderie quickly flew out the window during a vicious post-match attack. Just moments after the seven-time Tag Team Champions successful defended their titles, The Swiss Cyborg and The Alabaster Gladiator unleashed a brutal surprise assault on the extreme brothers and sent a definitive message that they are nowhere near done with Matt & Jeff.

Armed with their newfound ruthless aggression and a determination to prove The Hardys are nothing more than a “novelty act,” Cesaro & Sheamus went on to triumph in a Tag Team Turmoil Match to determine the No. 1 contender to the Raw Tag Team Championship, eliminating Enzo & Big Cass, Heath Slater & Rhyno, Golden Truth and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson on the May 8 edition of Raw in a dominant performance.

But Matt Hardy would win momentum back again when he overcame Sheamus two weeks later to win the right to name the stipulation for their Extreme pay-per-view showdown, the daunting Steel Cage!

Will The Hardy Boyz once again rise above their brutal No. 1 contenders among the unforgiving steel? Or is the curtain destined to come down on their “novelty act?” Find out at Extreme Rules, June 4 at 8 ET/5 PT, streaming live on WWE Network

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville vs. Austin Aries (Submission Match)

Neville vs. Austin Aries - WWE Cruiserweight Title Match: WrestleMania 33 Kickoff
Austin Aries is hoping that the third time is the charm, as he again has the opportunity to dethrone Neville and claim the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Extreme Rules in a Submission Match.

The rivalry between Neville and Aries began when A-Double returned from injury – clubbing The King of the Cruiserweights with a microphone and making his intentions to win the title clear. This altercation led to their first meeting at WrestleMania 33, and it was the closest Neville has come to losing his coveted championship. That victory did not come without controversy, as The King of the Cruiserweights attacked his opponent’s surgically repaired eye socket to secure the win.

Refusing to accept defeat, Aries won a Fatal 4-Way Match on the first WWE 205 Live after The Ultimate Thrill Ride to earn another opportunity for the Crusierweight Championship at WWE Payback. With his focus squarely on ending Neville’s reign and proving that only he is on the A-Double level, Aries once again gave The King of the Cruiserweights the fight of his life.

The battle at WWE Payback was intense, and Aries once again took the fight to his opponent, leaving Neville desperate to maintain possession of the championship. With The Last Chancery locked in and victory within A-Double’s grasp, Neville grabbed the official and was disqualified. Although Neville lost the match, he still retained the title.

At WWE Extreme Rules, Aries will have another chance to claim the championship and defeat his nemesis once and for all. However, there’s a caveat. Since WWE Payback, Neville has used his new ally TJP – who has his own machinations to reclaim the title – to weaken Aries. Repeatedly targeting and injuring Aries’ knee, TJP may have given Neville the advantage he needs to decisively defeat A-Double.

Can Aries lock in the Last Chancery to win his first WWE Cruiserweight Title? Or will Neville continue his reign off the strength of the Rings of Saturn? Find out at WWE Extreme Rules, streaming live Sunday, June 4, at 8 ET/5 PT on the award-winning WWE Network

Looking forward to the main event. Probably be between Balor and Wyatt, IMO.

The stip on the Miz/Ambrose match is still LOL considering the overall nature of the PPV.

Oh look, another f*cking PPV. And don't get me wrong I like the card overall but dear God this is draining at times.

Anyways, I expect the Five Way to be a great clusterfuck match. Picking Balor to win.

Miz will piss off Ambrose to the point where he gets DQ'ed so Miz takes the title.

Alexa retains with shenanigans.

Hardyz win after Jeff tries to kill himself.

And Aries finally gets his moment.

This PPV falls on a public holiday for me so I can watch it live and talk with you guys yay!! I've been missing that a lot lately.

Oh no. How dare they advance their current feuds by giving them their rematches rather than just have one-off matches and move on with the next person.

Although with that said, this is a poor card all things considered. The fatal five way does have potential but none of the other matches apart from the submission match are in anyway intriguing. The stipulations for Miz/Ambrose and Bayley/Bliss are pretty stupid too all things considered.

Isn't there supposed to be a mixed-tag match on this PPV too?

This card is shaping out to be a better than any other PPV of 2017 with Payback being a close second place.

Sucks that Vanilla Midget is going to win this.... poor Bray will probably eat another pin as well.

It's difficult to have great matches when it goes beyond two.

This card is shaping out to be a better than any other PPV of 2017 with Payback being a close second place.
:kobelol

It's a one match card with a predictable winner, their is literally shit all on the rest of the card.

Unless you consider the tag division relevant or a women's pole match interesting.

A lot of people are predicting Balor, which is interesting, because I would have thought it's easy to program him with Bray Wyatt coming out of the show. If they are going to save Reigns as challenger for WrestleMania, Rollins would actually make sense as the challenger. Reigns and Joe can have a match at the next PPV and keep building him up.

There's no reason to put that stipulation in the IC Title match if Miz isn't winning the belt. That being said, logic and the WWE aren't exactly best of friends at the moment. Ambrose could "Eddie Guerrero" to keep the belt because he's a ha-ha wrestler now. It'd be a pointless exercise, but that's how things often work these days. But yes, common sense says Miz feigns illegal actions by Ambrose and screws him out of the belt.

You've turned Sheamus & Cesaro heel -- it makes no sense to have them lose.

Bayley grabs the kendo stick for a moment over Alexa, but the heel keeps her belt when Nia gets involved and helps her out.

I guess Aries wins the belt, but for some reason I don't want to see him as champion.

You can't see what's wrong with that statement?

Of course we're going to ignore it! There's very, very few matches that deserve the hype of MOTY. Can anyone remember a fatal 5-way that came close to being a MOTY candidate?
There's literally no reason to think this will be MOTY. It's important to have standards. :)

Main event will most likely be quite fun.

Not having too much hope for the rest. Submission match for the cruiserweights? And Neville tapping this week makes me think he definitely won't on Sunday. Kendo Stick on a Pole match is such a joke; this has been the worst women's title feud in a long time. Steel Cage matches are usually quite awful in WWE so I am not expecting much; one of the Hardyz will probably jump from the top of the cage. Miz vs Ambrose has the worst stipulation ever, especially given it is Extreme Rules which should go into the opposite direction.

I just noticed that Dean & Miz's match doesn't even have a topic in this section :( :lol It's so unimportant and forgotten, nobody made a topic for it. I'll make one later on when I'm back on my laptop lol.

EDIT: There's a topic now :D

Pros:

Fatal Five Way - this match is gonna be a clusterfuck of excitement and chaos

Bliss vs Bayley - the build hasn't been too amazing, but I'm looking forward to what this entails for the future if Bliss/Jax become entangled and we involve the basis for Sasha's heel turn.

The Hardys vs Shesaro - I'm loving the feud. I hope Shesaro come out with the title and we inch a little further into BROKEN territory

Neville vs Aries - the feud has been subpar and bland but these two will put on a clinic.
Cons:

Ambrose vs Miz - both guys are great, but I hate the stipulation. The pay per view is called Extreme Rules, but Ambrose can lose the title by DQ?! That's ludicrous.

Swann/Banks vs Fox/Dar - fuck this rivalry. It's filler for Sasha and I just don't care. Just put it on the preshow and get it over with

The 5 Way should be a great clusterfuck main event.

But it’s like every other match they’ve just given up on the build up for. Ambrose vs. Miz is still going after being on Smackdown for months and they haven’t really done anything significant to keep the build going. Alexa vs. Bayley are building to a Pole match….ok.

The Hardyz vs. Cesaro & Sheamus had something good going but they limped to the finish line. Neville vs. Aries is dead in the water and needs to end after Sunday. And the mixed tag feels about as pre show as you can get.

I do think that every match besides the Pole match will deliver but God WWE ain’t helping any match here.
