WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Randy Orton will have to scrap their original game plans for Extreme Rules’ previously announced title contest and start anew, thanks to two huge stipulations hand-selected by the champion and challenger.
Each given the opportunity to pick the stipulations, Rollins declared the RKO will be banned on April 26, while The Viper chose to place the match inside the barbaric confines of a steel cage.
Both Superstars had similar reasons for picking their stipulations. Whereas Rollins sought to eliminate what he dubbed Orton’s greatest weapon, Orton added the cage in the hope of neutralizing J&J Security, who have repeatedly run interference for the self-proclaimed “Future of WWE.”
Orton, a 12-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, used the RKO to great effect at WrestleMania, when he unleashed a high-elevation, highlight-reel-worthy version of the move to pin Rollins mere hours before Rollins’ cash-in heard ’round the world. Without that arrow in his quiver, will The Viper be unable to achieve the same result?
Just as important, how successful will the cage be in preventing The Authority’s henchmen from aiding their golden boy, Rollins? And how will news that Kane will be the “gatekeeper” of the cage affect the showdown?
With chain-link fence surrounding the squared circle, the WWE Universe can be guaranteed one result: that Orton and Rollins — whose longstanding grudge dates back to November, when Rollins cruelly drove Orton’s head into the announce desk — will find new and creative ways to brutalize each other on sports-entertainment’s most extreme night of the year.
Watch the chaos ensue when the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match is decided inside a steel cage at Extreme Rules, which airs live on WWE Network Sunday, April 26, starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Yeah, pretty obvious that was the way they were going. I imagine we'll get Reigns/Ryback vs Show/Kane at Extreme Rules too. Boy that Chicago crowd will looooove that match. :lel
Re: Stupid Stipulations **cking Ruined The Main Event
The inability to spam finishers and a cage match stipulation are reasons why the match wasn't as good? I thought spamming finishers was why some shit on WWE*cough*Cena*HHH*cough* matches?
Cage matches are made to fail? What about LMS where guys lay on the floor for 9 counts for near falls?
how this two can have a Good Match without their Finishers?!the crowd was dead because of this stupid booking .
why would you limited your two best wrestlers on the roster ?! to make Roman Look Strong?! (you saw those fans with the "Roman Empire" - so scripted right where Roman is making his entrance i hope you're happy Vince) .
don't Blame Seth and Randy 'cause this two can go, but how in the world can those two could ever had a good match with those stupid stipulations?!
they took a very exciting and good match-up between two of the best and completely ruined it.
just think of all those RKOs Randy could have or all those Sick curb Stomps, where is a phoenix Splash tease?! this match felt so rushed! They could do so much more ...
Cage Matches are made to Fail!
The Funny thing is this match was so bad that i really want to see this two in another match, they deserve to have a great 25 minutes match!
you know nothing about ring psychology, they could tell much better story if the crowd was expecting a RKO or a Curb Stomp .
crowd had nothing to look forward to .
i am not hating on Reigns he had very good match, all im saying is the Main Event was an afterthought . all they care about is making Roman look strong that's why he pinned Seth clean on SD. that why a "Roman Payback" video was aired before the main event making this match even more Pointless .

Most of the great matches have a good finisher tease into a counter sequence like they had at Mania and they could do so much better .
without the RKO or the Curb Stomp there was no story .
in a LMS you could do so much more spots like they did with breaking every table possible.
i wasnt blaming Roman i just blamed the booking that was in favor of Roman .

What the hell are you going on about?! Don't blame what you don't like on Reigns, he had not one thing to do with the main event. So they banned two moves, it's not like Orton or Rollins can't wrestle without them and still have a good match! Some people just want to bitch and think it's the big thing to do to blame it on Reigns!
Exactly. If those two moves are all that defines Orton or Rollins then they neither one should be main eventing. Luckily they can both put on a hell of a match with or without their finishers.
The main event was a mess because Rollins isn't allowed to win a match clean, a pointless steel cage, Randy banned from using the RKO, J&J Security and Kane's turn which everyone saw coming. That had nothing to do with Roman Reigns.
Re: Stupid Stipulations **cking Ruined The Main Event
All that just to shit on Reigns?
What I will say is the formula for tonight's main event is straight from old school booking (and has been occasionally used in the modern era) where the deck is stacked against the challenger, due to his finisher being banned.
Not saying that was the right call for tonight but I don't see how lack of an RKO or Curbstomp took this from a classic to a dud because with all the bullshit surrounding it, it never had potential to be a classic with Kane anywhere near it.
And I damn sure don't understand how the booking of the main event is due to them wanting to make Reigns look strong. That's irrelevant. Nothing more than yet another round of questionable booking.

Re: Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton - WWE World Heavyweight Championship
^Agreed, a clean win should just get this out the way and let Rollins proceed as champion. Hopefully he can then get another good win under his belt before he has to take on Brock again so that he is at least presented as having something of a shot.
Re: Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton - WWE World Heavyweight Championship
I want Seth to have classics but they keep overbooking the fuck of his matches. Ever since he turned heel last year , all of his PPV matches have been overbooked to protect all of the faces. Orton doesn't need protection , he already beat Rollins clean at Mania , it's the perfect opportunity for them to establish Rollins as a real champion by having him go over clean.
I smell a whole load of sweet fuckery coming in this match. No way Randy wins, but can't see Rollins winning clean either. Randy is too hot right now to eat a clean loss and Seth's character can sustain a win of the fuckery kind. My guess is Seth wins thanks to outside interference from Kane or Wyatt starting a feud with Randy.
Good, wonder what Reigns does next though? No way Vince will just let him not go for any title right? Bryan has heel Sheamus and Cena is most likely doing a rematch with Rusev so...? I'm going to take a stab at saying...
A. Roman and Ambrose tag team for the tag team championship; Roman works with someone people like and it begins the set up for Roman vs. Ambrose vs. Rollins for title at next year's WM
B. Roman gets into a feud with the authority for whatever reason
They bungled the build up to their WM match so fucking badly...and now we have to sit through another month of it?
Oh joy.
I'm sure the match itself will be good, but its the weeks of TV leading up to the match that worries me. I mean, we've already seen Orton beat the shit out of Rollins for an eternity on Raw, and turn on him, AND beat him in his match at Mania. Do we really need to see more? I'd have saved this feud for Payback or whatever the July PPV is so we can have a breather in between and maybe something fresh that doesn't suck.
I hate steel Cage matches. It is always being said the Cage prevents people from interfering in matches, but then they do anyway. You can even have a closed Cage with a locked door, and still people manage to interfere. That is a stupid reason for having a steel Cage match, I think.
And banning the RKO?!!! Orton can still win by using any kind of form for a d.d.t. He can also win by escaping the Cage. So to me banning a move isn't making a match extreme rules. I mean, the title of the event is: "Extreme Rules, where every match is being contested under extreme rules".
