I dont mean ending the brand split, but for the WWE to completley change the direction of ECW, still keeping the ECW brand, but giving it its own independence. Kind of like George Lucas' legacy being star wars, but making Indiana Jones too.
ECW back how it used to be, but owned by the WWE and not part of Smackdown and Raw.
Its admiral that ECW is now being used as a way to push younger stars and give them some TV time, but couldnt this be done with OVW if they put enough money into the place?

Re: Would ECW do better as an Independent promotion?
i think it would be much better so then it can go back how it was and they can hire all the ECW originals back and have a great product only problem with the whole kiddy thing WWE would not want to associate with something so voilent
Re: Would ECW do better as an Independent promotion?
ECW is fine as is. If the brand's purpose is to be a proving ground for young talent, then it's important for it to be associated with RAW and Smackdown. In an environment that's "independent" from the other brands, ECW stars wouldn't flourish as quickly. The talent exchanges have helped and will continue to help make the new talent more credible, all the while providing opportunities for interesting new feuds.
ECW being portrayed as separate from WWE would defeat the purpose of the brand, imo.

Re: Would ECW do better as an Independent promotion?
ECW for me was never about the hardcore violence, but about the awesome talent like RVD, Eddie, Benoit, Malenko, Scorpio, Mysterio , Jerry Lynn and Psychosis. If the New ECW's legacy is as developing fresh new talent, it'll be alright with me.
Re: Would ECW do better as an Independent promotion?
I'm fine with ECW as it is. Sure, the old ECW has had its sheer awesomeness, but it wasn't all THAT great aswell. I think it's overrated. Socko Claw makes a good point in the post above, to me it was also definitely about the great talent that arose from ECW, not about their "hardcore legacy".
I also see the current ECW as a lot better of a developmental system and proving grounds than FCW, as it actually puts the younger wrestlers on nationwide television and gives the WWE a good look of how the 'general' fans respond to their gimmicks, matches etc.
Re: Would ECW do better as an Independent promotion?
I've thought about this before and it would be a cool idea. I think they should try it out and if it doesnt work they could have a storyline where WWE buys ECW again.

pretty much how i view it. plus, i like it now, i dont want all the ECW originals back, if all of them came back then great young talent like Bourne and The Miz would just get pushed to the ground.
