WWE.com has confirmed the release of ECW Superstar Colin Delaney.

Now that Delaney has gone, I have to ask what the hell the point of his run in the company was. When he came in, he looked ridiculous. I'm not a bodybuilder/monster fiend or anything, but I think we all accept that Delaney looked far too small, and far too unremarkable to amount to much.

In any case, he was shoved down our throats week in, week out, partipating in numerous pointless squash matches, before his angle with Tommy Dreamer. His heel turn on Tommy amounted to the only significant thing he did during his time on ECW, and even that angle quickly burned out as Tommy - ECW's jobber to the stars and just about everyone else - squashed him in no time.

My question now is, was was the point of the whole experiment? Creative clearly had little or no idea where they ultimately wanted to put Colin Delaney, and with a character like that, unless you have a really innovative and certain idea of what you wish to do with them, they are never going to get over on their own steam

So if that is it, why take up so much TV time with those pointless exploits, all the while several ECW and SmackDown superstars were in need of exposure?

It was definately a waste of the last 3 or 4 Months. Kinda made no sense having him "Fight for his Contract" Every week and then end up Firing him.

I was kinda shocked when I first heard this but not surprised. I just told a friend of mine last night that Delaney would probably be released soon and coincidentally, he got released today. He'll probably just job in tna now.

I think Colin Delaney filled his role well he was a glorified jobber. He was brought in to get beaten up by bigger stronger guys and he was week in and week out. It's much more effective to have a wrestler beat up on some little guy with a contract than some little no name wrestler. However the effect of Delaney was wearing off so they released him but he served his purpose he got people talking I mean check out all the Delaney threads on this site he put over heels and he gave Dreamer something to do for a month. Colin Delaney served his purpose and will make alot more money as an indy wrestler now than he would've had he never been apart of the WWE he should be grateful
