Just because it's top tier on ECW and has the name World means nothing to me. If WWE doesn't treat it like a true World title, then it's not. I view it as a step above the IC/US titles and a step below the World titles.
Hell CM Punk was the first to admit that it wasn't a real World title when he called it "WWE's read headed step child" or something like that.

He was actually talking about the show as a whole, but yeah basically he was right. Last time the ECW title was really a legit world title was when Big Show had it, and had big matches every ECW with the likes of Flair, Undertaker, Batista. After that the ECW title was just a stepping stone used for midcard guys to be potential main eventers one day (IE: CM Punk) which isn't a bad idea. But as said if WWE doesn't even look at it as a true world title no way can you expect the fans to.

Re: Oh, you don't consider the ECW Championship a world title?
According to PWI, they only consider 3 titles in pro wrestling as "world titles." WWE, WHC, and TNA are all "world titles"
Once Morrison won it last year, it lost all credibility. Once Bobby Lashley was stripped of the title, the WWE stopped treating it as equal to the WWE and WHC. If you remember in 07, Lashley was considered one of the options of Taker's possible opponents for Mania. THis year, Chavo was in the Rumble, essentially proving that it was below the WWE title. You didnt see Edge or Orton in the rumble did you?

Focus on this Chavo thing all you want, but Hogan was champion the first time he won the rumble.
The way they treat the ECW title now is no different from how they treated the WHC compared to the WWE title in '06 after Batista's injury or, how they treated the WHC in '07 after they started the tri-branded PPV's up. The WHC took back seat to the WWE title. The WHC was a world title, it just wasn't quite on the level of the WWE title.

PWI now considers the ECW title a world championship. This mind you, is after everything people are say makes the ECW title less valuable.

And this can be found there:

With the victory, Cena earns a World Championship opportunity against the titleholder of his choice at WrestleMania XXIV on Sunday, March 30, in Orlando, Fla.
[...]
Cena will be looking to capture some gold in the Sunshine State at WrestleMania XXIV … but which champion will he choose to face? Will he go after the WWE Championship – currently held by Randy Orton – and look to regain the title he never lost in the ring from a man who never beat him for it? Or will Cena look to conquer a different mountain and challenge an old foe, World Heavyweight Champion Edge, or a new kingpin, ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero, for a title he has never worn?

So... officialy WWE.com is saying that the ECW championship is a WORLD TITLE!!!...
END OF THE STORY!!!

Re: Oh, you don't consider the ECW Championship a world title?
wwe may not seem like they treat the ecw title as a world title but it is obvious to me that they do other wise they would have made a big deal about cm punk and mention that his whc win against edge was his first world title reign

You mean the WHC ME RR06 is the same thing as the ECW champ being in the Royal Rumble? Or the WHC actually being defended in one of the ME of WM? Or in 07 when the WHC was defended at EVERY PPV? Or when the WHC Main evented the last 3 PPVs in 07? How about the WHC MAIN EVENTING at WM24 when the companys 2 biggest stars were in the other title match? Also how about them moving the WHC to the A SHOW? The WHC has been equal to the WWE title or at least very close.
It is this simple the WWE doesn't consider anywhere near the WHC or WWE title. They don't even put it on all of their PPVs. They don't even have any of their top 10 guys going for the ECW title. The ECW title is nowhere near a World Heavyweight championship.

Re: Oh, you don't consider the ECW Championship a world title?
They can call it a World Title, and I guess in the technical sense it is, but nobody gives a shit. Not even the WWE. I mean my God they put Chavo Guerrero, as ECW Champion, in the Royal Rumble. If that isn't proof that the title is meaningless, I don't know what is.

Re: Oh, you don't consider the ECW Championship a world title?
Yeah, WWE is treating the ECW title like a IC Championship version. I consider it a World Title, but apparently WWE doesnt. My opinion, ECW got screwed from the draft. They lost all main eventers, such as Kane, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston. I think ECW should just give up, honestly.

Ok... So giving Hulk Hogan the opportunity to participate in the Royal Rumble (as the WWF champion) in 1990 and actually Winning it doesnt count or you were just not aware of this?
Ohhh, thats right, there was not enough wrestler that year and they tought that Hulk Hogan was a better choice (!)...
Leading to Ultimate Warrior winning the WWF title at WM few months later (!) (!)
