Re: ECW Discussion Thread 5/13/08: Sign on the Extreme line
I can't wait until I'm in attendance for the Smackdown/ECW tapings in Houston at the end of next month. Never gone so far out of the way for a show before (like 90-100 miles out of the way as opposed to the usual 15-20). I guess I can't wait for them to bring back another TV date closer to home.
As to tonight, I think Estrada will screw Delaney out of his contract. This is dumb to me in that if a guy keeps showing up on a WWE show as a part of the lineup, then he's more than likely a regular star with a contract and not some guy getting one overglorified tryout match after another on TV! What next, an undisclosed relation to Katie Vick?
I don't mind the prospect of Kane and CM Punk becoming tagteam champions. For one thing neither have held these particular titles before. It's one more notch in their careers if they get them. Miz and Morrison have been doing soft teases towards a breakup when one would lose a singles match anyways. It could lead to a build up for Punk's career even further and send Morrison and Miz on their way to much more prosperous singles scenarios.
Another Striker's classroom with Foley? Once was classic, twice is kind of pushing it. Though Striker does deserve an opportunity, I can't see where this is going to lead by feuding with a Smackdown announcer. Then again, Smackdown announcers are usually non-factor when it comes to involvement in everyday storylines, so it would be something new. Maybe Striker is bringing out Coachman to confront him. I kind of wouldn't mind Coach VS Foley over the announcing spot since the ESPN rumor wasn't true. Coach has minimal skills and I doubt Foley would refuse it what'd be an entertaining match. Perhaps Striker would wind up refereeing it. It beats doing nothing at PPVs and could lead in to something.
All in all, I look forward to ECW most of all out of the week and tonight's no different. Just something special about an hour long broadcast the night after the top priority show on a sister network that is somewhat live. Hard to say what.
